Mixed bag of weather for Mother's Day, pleasantly warm thoughAdded:
All right, one more look at that Mother's Day forecast everybody. Happy Sunday. We've got you know a little bit of everything for everyone today. We start the day with fog. We're going to end with a couple sunny breaks here through the afternoon and then maybe even a straight shower or rumble of thunder with temperatures topping out low 70s, low to mid 70s.
Hey, even if we don't even if we do end up with some rain today, at least the temperatures are starting to feel a little more May like across the area.
So, morning fog again giving way to some breaks of sunshine and then maybe a straight shower or storm as a front goes through. Tomorrow that front moves far enough offshore that I think our rain chances go to a minimum, 20-30% chance.
That's about it. Mainly to the east as well. I do think the clouds will stick around, but by Tuesday, check this out.
Tons of sunshine. This is going to be the pick day of the week. It's a beautiful afternoon with high temperatures getting back close to 70°.
So, rain chances really don't shake out to be that impressive. 40% chance for this afternoon. They drop off tonight.
Tomorrow again 20-30% shower chance.
That's about it. And then totally dry Monday night getting into Tuesday. So, here's Futurecast. We'll stop the clock at noon. So, again, all of that fog starts to burn off. The one exception will be eastern Suffolk out towards the Twin Forks. Notice the fog kind of hangs on a little bit longer. Keep that in mind also if you're a boater. I think the closer you get to the city through New York Harbor, the better off you're going to be. Up the Hudson Valley, more of the same. By the afternoon, a line of downpours may develop. That's your 40% chance. Models are going back and forth on this. I don't think it's a wash, but hey, definitely something to keep an eye on if you have anything going on this afternoon. And then that's out of here by dinner time. Maybe a stray shower chance through South and Central New Jersey as we get to the evening. Jumping ahead now to Monday, a lot of cloud cover. A front far enough offshore that I think most of the rain chances are gone. Just a 20 or 30% chance across the board. Otherwise, mainly cloudy with temperatures in the mid 60s. So, yeah, mid 70s today, mid 60s tomorrow.
Back near 70 on Tuesday and then cooler [snorts] for Wednesday and Thursday. So overall a below average temperature week. We do turn a corner though by the end of the week and I think as we get into the middle and the end of May, we are going to trend warmer than average across the area. So there you have it.
75 for today, tomorrow mainly cloudy, a shower chance south and east 64 your high temperature. Back close to 70 on Tuesday with lots of sunshine and again shower chances stick around we are unsettled on the cooler side in the 60s for Wednesday and Thursday, but by Friday we turn a corner. Lot of clouds clearing, drier, 70 your high temperature and then back close to 80° as we get you into next weekend.
