When a small number of billionaires own major news outlets, the news media may prioritize protecting their interests over serving the public, leading to conflicts of interest where companies building surveillance systems embed their AI directly into newsrooms that are supposed to cover them, making it difficult for citizens to distinguish between legitimate journalism and corporate propaganda.

Comedy or Corruption?追加:
Mainstream news is now just a handful of billionaires deciding what you see. And honestly, the headlines have gotten so ridiculous, you can't even tell if it's corruption or comedy. James Murdoch, who was a part of the Murdoch media empire, just bought Vox. And this is the same outlet running pieces titled data centers could actually be good for your hometown. Jeff Bezos already owns the Washington Post. And under Bezos, the post has been running headlines like why you may not want lower prices as much as you think you do. A paper owned by one of the richest men on earth telling you you don't want cheaper prices. And hundreds of thousands of people [music] have already canceled their Washington Post subscription. And these examples don't even include some of the people like the Ellisons who own a huge chunk of American media. And here's the part where it turns dystopian. Palantir, the surveillance company tied to military targeting in Gaza, just embedded its AI directly inside of Fox News. OpenAI is doing the same thing [music] running journalism programs with major outlets.
The companies building the surveillance state are now sitting inside the newsrooms that are supposed to cover them. So now ask yourself why, while there are genocides unfolding, mass surveillance becoming the norm, and billionaires pouring money into elections, your feed is full of celebrity gossip and manufactured outrage. It's not an accident when a handful of billionaires own the news.
The news stops being about you, and it becomes about protecting them. The hardest part is that the more they consolidate, the harder it gets to even know who you're listening to. I use the Conscious app to see who owns the media I engage with, so I know whose interests are behind the story before I trust it.
We are publishing data on almost every single major company every single day, and are not stopping until people can finally see who is behind the information they consume. If you don't see a news company we have on the app, you can easily request one and we'll get to it.
