House Speaker Mike Johnson and Senate Majority Leader John Thune are planning a separate push to secure about 70 billion dollars more for ICE and CBP through budget reconciliation by June 1st, a process that bypasses the Senate filibuster. The vote comes as DHS officials warned emergency funds were nearly exhausted, raising concerns the department could soon struggle to pay staff and maintain operations.
