Weather systems evolve through distinct phases, with precipitation patterns shifting geographically and intensity changing over time; as moisture sources move away and drier air moves in, showers transition to scattered thunderstorms and eventually clear conditions with rising temperatures.

Best coverage of showers shifts east by Wednesday morning...drying trend by Thursday.Added:

Ramos Law. What makes us different makes us better.
All righty, crew. Our pattern is admittedly a little bit messy. And while there's a main weather feature over the western United States, our driving feature locally over the next 36 hours is an area of low pressure that's kind of out ahead of that that's been splitting up in two with a piece over western Colorado Tuesday afternoon and a more significant piece kind of the main energy with that system over central New Mexico. And that is going to rotate north across the region here as we move through Wednesday. So, the scattered showers will continue to be most numerous over the mountains this evening. And while I can't rule out a shower or a storm over the interstate, you just see that a better coverage here exists over the mountains. That will change a little bit overnight as we bring that main wave up from the south.
And so by the time we hit Wednesday morning, maybe even a couple thunderstorms kind of straddling the plains and then out eastward toward Highway 71, especially south of the Arkansas River. That activity as we begin the day will even up high for the most part be in the form of rain with the clouds around and the moisture. Uh anything that is snow will be up on the highest peaks. We begin the day in the 40s and 50s and especially east of the mountains tomorrow with clouds around and some showers will be a little bit cooler with temps in the 60s. Couple spots over the mountain valleys will get to around 70. I think through the first part of the day we'll break the showers up a little bit but not get rid of them completely. Then we head into the afternoon and here's what I mean by the messy pattern. We're kind of shearing that system apart a little bit. So, we won't totally get rid of the showers, especially kind of east of the mountains and south of the Arkansas River. But you see, as we head toward the evening, things tend to break up a little bit.
Heaviest rain will be with any thunderstorms that can form. As we move into early Thursday, we start to draw in some drier air. So, we will begin the day with sun over the mountains. And if there are any showers near the Colorado Kansas line, I think with time on Thursday, those will break up as well.
The sun over the mountains will build the chance of a thunderstorm or two through the afternoon on Thursday. These will have drier air at the surface. So, there will be some VGA that could produce some pockets of some gusty wind.
The strongest storms will produce some quick bursts of rain over the area. But you see how the storms are kind of falling apart here a little bit. That is a trend that shows the atmosphere is in the process of drying out and so do the high temperatures on Thursday as with lots of 70s back to around 80. a lot of us get a bump from what we'll have out there on Wednesday. So, still a little bit unsettled here over the next day or two before we see a trend emerge into the weekend. And I'll let you know what that is coming up in the extended forecast. You're on Peaks to Plains Weather, our weather together.
