Three senators sworn in on Monday

[00:00:04]Three senators including a new appointee took their oath of office on Monday before Senate President Dato' Awang Bemee Awang Ali Basha. Among them was International University of the Federal Territory Islamic Religious Council Chief Executive Officer and Vice-Chancellor Dato' Sri Professor Dr. Noor Inayah Yaacob who was appointed as Senator.

[00:00:30]The other two senators sworn in were Husin Ismail and Dr. R.A. Lingeshwaran who were reappointed after being reelected by the Terengganu and Penang State Legislative Assemblies, respectively. Noor Inayah would serve a 3-year term from May 14, 2026 until May 13, 2029.

[00:00:46]Lingeshwaran would also serve for the same period. While Husin's reappointment, effective April 23rd, will end on April 22nd, 2029. In his speech, Awang Bemee hoped that all appointed senators would use their experience, expertise, and wisdom through active participation in debates, raising quality questions, and contributing effectively in Senate Select Committees for the benefit of the people and the nation's progress.
