Riddarholmen Church in Stockholm houses the tombs of Swedish monarchs, with two medieval kings—Magnus Ladulås (who donated the land for the Franciscan monastery around 1270) and Karl Knutsson Bonde (a 15th-century king)—buried in the center of the nave, commissioned later in 1574 by King John III to celebrate the antiquity of the Swedish throne.
