South Florida residents can expect rain starting tomorrow afternoon, with showers developing across the Everglades and coastal areas, potentially causing localized street flooding; the weather pattern will shift to more typical midsummer humidity, with storms continuing through Friday and Saturday before tapering off, as the region enters the start of hurricane season with a surge of tropical moisture.

Rain could be coming as soon as tomorrow afternoon in parts of South FloridaAjouté :
Always tracking, always alerting. This is Next Weather.
>> All right, we know the rain is coming our way. Next weather meteorologist Nick Marianos is tracking it for us. We're looking into the afternoon tomorrow, >> I think. So, yeah, for the most impacts, at least in the metro area with some of the heavier rainfall rates and some cloud lightning strikes at this hour, seeing the changing pattern starting to take shape here and some gusty showers coming in across parts of the Keys right now. We're also watching uh areas across portions of coastal Broward County.
Mainly for just showers at this hour, some brief downpours. These were all lifting off towards the north though.
Right now, we haven't seen any lightning strikes, but again, occasional lightning strike out of this activity. Not impossible as we go through the rest of the overnight hours. And then down to the Keys, you can see there from Long Key to Marathon, some gusty showers.
These are capable of producing gusts between 30 to 35 miles per hour. some of the buoys just off the coast there near the Keys reporting that as they have been pushing off toward the north. So, this is just a leading push of all that moisture that we're just about to tap into that'll lead to a start of a pattern change here in the days ahead.
It will feel a lot more on the humid side. Now, it's been muggy in the last couple of days, but as we get through tomorrow, it's going to feel like typical midsummer South Florida humidity later tomorrow. So, let's time this out for you hour by hour. We'll start the clock here at 7:00 in the morning. A few light showers, not impossible, but they they'll be fairly brief and light. As we get toward the lunch hour, we'll begin to see a lot more of this activity develop across the interior portions, especially across the Everglades, whereas our coast mainly dry at this moment. But as we get into the evening hours or even late afternoon, say between 3 to 6 o'clock in the afternoon, that's when we'll begin to see some more of those showers developing just off the coastline. Uh especially across the Everglades, I should say, and then those will drift east toward the metro. So, as many of you may be heading home from work, say 4, 5:00, 6:00, that's when we expect to see some of these moving through with some of those producing some heavier rainfall rates. So, if we get that and these storms begin to kind of build on each other, then we may have some pockets of localized street flooding. So, we'll keep you posted on that for tomorrow as those storms begin to develop. Those move off the coast.
Fairly quiet night tomorrow. Then Friday, we'll see a few more storms beginning to develop as well. Just like tomorrow, Friday, storms will develop and then move toward the coastline uh as we roll through. The change though where we're seeing some of the trends in our forecast on Saturday. A bit of a change in terms of aerial coverage of these showers. Not as many. Still going to see storms around here on Saturday, don't get me wrong. So, keep your certainly keeping keep in tuned with the latest there uh with Saturday into Sunday, but getting into next week, we're still holding on to that surge of tropical moisture as we get into the start of hurricane season. And Lauren, as we get into the middle part of the week, we're still going going to stay active. But the days where we have fewer storms, our temperatures get closer to the lower 90s, a little bit warmer, >> heating up. All right, Nick. Thanks so much. And join us Monday night for Survive the Season, Hurricane 2026. The next weather team will bring you important information to make sure you and your family are prepared and safe during a storm. It's at 700 p.m.
