This video demonstrates how weather forecasters predict precipitation patterns by tracking the movement of weather fronts across a region. The forecast explains that a slow-moving front will bring morning showers that gradually clear by afternoon, with warmer temperatures following. Forecasters use specific timelines to predict when and where precipitation will occur, noting that showers will move from west to east across counties like Sussex, Pike, Warren, Hunterdon, Sullivan, Ulster, Orange, and the five boroughs. The forecast also includes safety information about rip currents, emphasizing that if caught in one, individuals should swim parallel to the shoreline rather than fighting the current.

Soggy start, then drying out later for Memorial Day本站添加:
You're hard-pressed to find any of them as the sun continues to rise. Not really going to see much of it throughout a good portion of the day, but later on this afternoon, I'd say around 2:00 to 3:00, even 4:00, you'll start to see from north to south there'll be a gradual clearing. So, we still have the morning showers though.
Right now, it's kind of a light, misty, and there is a batch that's going to be coming through later on this morning.
We're going to time it all out for you.
Also, we got warmer temperatures ahead.
Just be careful, there still could be some ponding, and the roads are a little slick, so and along with that, the visibility still a problem. So, these showers are moving through now. It looks like Sussex, Pike County, down and toward Warren, Hunterdon County, and that's going to continue to push further east.
We have that warm front that's going to supply us with much warmer air, and not too far along, we have a cold front. So, we do have another round of rain by midweek, but we're focusing on the now.
Here's a timeline. So, this is what it's looking like. This 5:00 hour, if you're in Sullivan, Ulster County, down and toward Orange County, may notice a few showers at some point this hour, and then it continues to progress further east. Now, by the time it gets around the 6:00 half hour, good part of the Garden State, with the exception of Yeah, along the coast there, it's pretty quiet, but elsewhere we have a light to moderate rain with winds out of the southwest, and then we have a little bit more coverage across the five boroughs, Nassau, Suffolk, southwestern Connecticut, the rest of the Hudson Valley. 9:00, so figure by 10:00, we clear out across the city. It does come a little bit earlier across parts of New Jersey, and then it continues to stretch further east. So, between 10:00 and around noon or so, much more quieter conditions. And then we have breaks of clouds, breaks of sunshine, parts of New Jersey, Orange County. It's hard to see, but it's there, and it'll be a gradual clearing thereafter. So, by the time we get to around 5:00, 6:00, remember the sun is setting a little later, so you will see a little glimpse of that sunshine at some point, but then the clouds return. It will be a mix of sun and clouds tomorrow, and then we anticipate a cold front to come through, and this next frontal boundary, that's going to stir things up again by late Tuesday to Wednesday. We could be talking about some more showers, and then by Wednesday afternoon, it clears out, and then we have another batch later on during the pre-dawn hours on Thursday. So, close to a quarter of an inch when all is said and done as far as totals are concerned. Right now, temperatures mainly in the 50s.
Remember, quick reminder, dangerous rip currents. You want to swim only near lifeguards. Very important. If you do get caught in a rip current, you will you should just relax and swim parallel to the shoreline until you break free.
And you notice it when there's like a little white caps happening, and it just kind of comes together. It's very, very difficult to predict when it's going to happen. If you get caught in it, just don't panic. That's the most important thing. Temperatures in the 60s, 70s mainly, and then tonight we're more likely in the 50s once again, low 60s in the city. Then a big warm-up in store, really feeling like summer tomorrow as well as Wednesday. Gradual cool-down, but still warmer than average. So, definitely, definitely, wait until a little later on to be able to uh enjoy the outdoors.
