Digital R&R height gauges are sensitive to mechanical shock, and when snapped, they can produce erratic readings that jump in increments of approximately 0.100, making them unreliable for precision measurements; therefore, gauges that exhibit this behavior should be condemned and replaced.

HOC Gage Shock Error
Added:And here is a different uh like uh digital R&R height gauge.
I started out at zero.
And now I've got positive 400 at the home position.
And that happened because I was snapping it. Okay, let's do it again.
Okay, looks pretty good.
There.
But if I snap it, now I'm at positive almost 200.
Now, I don't recommend snapping these, but this this that's going to happen in the field. People are going to snap them.
It's at this in the same position, but it's reading positive 200.
And it mm jumps around in increments of about 0.100.
Now, it's 300.
400.
500.
600.
800.
Almost an inch, and it's in the same position.
Again, I do not recommend snapping it, but when I calibrate these, I snap them because that's going to happen in the field.
And I'm simulating real world um conditions to when I test them and calibrate them.
So, I'm going to condemn this gauge.
This is the third R&R gauge that I've condemned in 2 days.
