"I remember Sudoku. In the Mountains" : BremSter without BremSter

[00:00:15]Hi and welcome to Premister to Puzzles and back to another puzzle by full deck and missing a few cards. This one is called Blue Ridge Region Sums. Um, and I'm assuming because this looks a bit like a mountain range. And I am going to try this one as a BMster without Bremster. So, I'm going to try solving this one without doing full explanation.

[00:00:37]Um, on the last one I did, I got a few people commenting that it was like, but you have to explain. It's like, and then I got quite a few people saying, I love these videos. So, I'm not sure on the best way of dealing with this, but I'm going to do another BMster without Bremster because the feedback mostly from full deck and missing a few cards was excellent. So, um I'm going to stick with that. Um I don't know anyone else who's done this as a video. If you do know someone another channel who's done this as a full explanation video, um leave a comment below and I will absolutely link to that in the description. But until someone else does it as a video, eh, we'll see how it goes. Um okay, let's quickly go through the rules. Um so we've got normal sudoku rules apply which means in every box in every row and in every column the digits 1 to nine must be placed without repetition. We have region sum lines. So box borders split blue lines into sections and the digits on those sections must sum to the same value. So for example if I pick this line the digits on that section must sum to the same as the digit in that section. Um and the same is true on all of the lines. And then crop key pairs digits in cell separated by a black dot are in a 2:1 ratio. digits in cells separated by a white dot are consecutive. They're the rules. Remember, I'm not going to be explaining, but I will be talking aloud my thoughts. Um, but I'm not going to go back and explain what I've seen. I'm going to restart the puzzle to restart my timer. Let's give this a shot. So, uh, does one of those have to be 36?

[00:02:04]I'm not sure. Ooh, but this column has three black dots on it. So, those are 5, 7, and 9. So, this is 46. No. Uh, yeah. 468.

[00:02:21]And this can't be an eight. Could it be a six? No, it can't. That's four.

[00:02:27]So, this is at least seven, but can't be seven. That's eight. That's four. That's awesome. Which means those are one and three.

[00:02:38]Um, that's cool. So, if this is 48, these are 1 2 3 6. I'll put that in, but I don't know why.

[00:02:47]Now, does that Now, it doesn't have to be 36 anymore. Uh, in fact, ooh, no, this is interesting cuz the minimum here, this is now 7, 8, or 9.

[00:02:59]Not sure on that one. In fact, what can that be? Because this can't be one or two. This is three. It can't be four.

[00:03:07]This is three or six only. So this is 3 six.

[00:03:14]Could that be three? Would that be one, two?

[00:03:18]We put three up there. But if this is 36, what's that? That is one or two.

[00:05:05]And these are six and eight, which puts six down here. But the four means this is an eight because it's not a two. And six is in one of those two.

[00:05:21]That's done nothing here. But these Well, this can't be a four or an eight anymore. So that's 6 three with that being 1 2.

[00:05:28]So the six here means these can't sum to six. And this is 1 2 or three. And it can't be three. So these can't be nine.

[00:05:36]And now where is yellow? Cuz it's got to be seven or eight.

[00:06:44]What about this? Well, actually this is a bit restricted. I've got to put two in one of those. If that's a two, that's a four.

[00:07:08]Well, this is seven or eight. So, what's this?

[00:07:14]Must I have a two on this? I must have a two on this line. Cuz if there's no two on this line, I'd need a three on the line, and I don't have it. So, there's a two on this line, and it's either 124 or 125. And that can't be a five. This is a 1, two, or a four. And it's not a one.

[00:07:34]If this is a two, this would have to be a one or a four. If this is a four, this would be a two or an eight.

[00:07:40]But this can't be a one. So 2 4 would work. Four 8 would work. Uh, not sure.

[00:09:04]This isn't a nine. So, the nine is in one of those two. So these are from two uh two five seven one 1 2 3 4 6 8 there two has to be there. So this is only one or four and it's not one that's a four meaning that is a two and there's no two there and this now has to be four cuz it can't be one. So it's two four and this is three or five and the four comes out of there. This is 215 which means these are eight. Get rid of the coloring. And now where's eight?

[00:09:44]It's not in any of those. It's not there. It's in one of those two. Could that be an eight? No, because that's a three-digit number. Oh, actually it could be something to a two-digit number. That could be an eight.

[00:11:40]And that's very powerful because now that digit is one less than that digit.

[00:14:14]So, these are six, seven, and eight. The seven means that's the seven, which means that's not the seven.

[00:14:28]That the five. That the three. That the nine. That the seven. That the five 9 7 9. 1 2 3 4 and 7. That was very fun.

[00:14:43]That was a really nice region some puzzle. I really like the way you could kick off with the 579s. I definitely got lost in the weeds with the way that particularly this line worked, but the way this resolved with those two threes was really cool. And finding those eights um using I think it was this um the way this resolved was very very nice as well. I definitely got a little bit lost and missing the consecutive dots for as long as I did was a little bit dumb, but you know, sometimes I'm a little bit dumb. That was a lot of fun.
