From severe storms to super nice days - Update Wednesday May 27, 2026

[00:00:00]All right, couple of cameras. Then we have some watches. Right now, I don't think we have many warnings outside of some flood warnings, but you can see the tail end of one group of storms as we look back down toward the South Ridge area. Oh, that's an interesting view right there. We're kind of catching these on the fly. This is a little downpour it looks like trying to come out of that cloud. Have a nice updraft.

[00:00:20]This is in Grayson looking back up toward the Ohio River. Be out that direction. And that's an up and down shower right there. And then we're just watching the tail end of some heavy rain that worked its way on through the Pomeroy area. And look at that fog in that area too already south of Parkerburg and up around Ravenswood. All right, so very busy radar, severe thunderstorm watch in the yellow and nearby. And there actually is one warning. I'm going to go over and click on that. That's one warning that just came in. That is going to be for the area south of Palm, the backside of that storm we were just looking at that's moving away. So let me click on that for you here real quickly. It's this area.

[00:00:57]Severe thunderstorm warning for Mason County. It's moving into Mason right now. That's the cell. Little bit of Galia. It's already just moved through Point Pleasant. So, it's coming right down toward Brighton, Grims Landing, eventually. Uh it'll be going through Apple Grove there by the steel plant.

[00:01:12]Eventually, Buffalo. Uh so, we'll keep an eye on that. We'll see if it makes it all the way down to Windfield, Eleanor.

[00:01:18]We'll see if it does. It's not exactly going at a at a really rapid pace. Uh some more storms up here to the north around Weston, north of Spencer. And then we'll check out a couple of other views here in motion that we did have a severe thunderstorm just south of Charleston earlier. And that was about an hour and a half ago or so. And that has kind of turned into just some plain old thunderstorms. Look at all the lightning here. 624 cloud to ground lightning strikes in the past 5 minutes in this zone. And that doesn't count cloud to cloud. So there's probably in thousands of flashes. It's real flashy.

[00:01:49]Golf, baseball, softball. No. If you hear the thunder, no. Take a time out until that last rumble. Wait 30 minutes.

[00:01:56]Yeah, it's just not safe when it's like that. Real electric today. Not as much electricity here now in Logan County.

[00:02:01]Just a big downpour. And again, this is where we've seen some flooding problems.

[00:02:05]We'll watch out up here in Calhoun, Gilmer. Uh looking here again, Pomeroy, man. Again, back into Mason County.

[00:02:12]That's where all the big action is right now. So, here's your severe thunderstorm watch. Good until at least 9:00. Goes all the way over to Virginia Beach. And after that, we deal with the flooding.

[00:02:20]This may get extended time-wise. This was until 4:30 for Calhoun County and also up by Gilmer. Flood watches until 2 or 3 in the morning. Could easily be extended. This is where you had two inches of rain up around Spencer. And then we had again another pocket back here, Galla County. We want to watch out back toward Rio Grand. Once you get off at 35, there's some low spots down there that tend to fill up. Our temperatures are coming down a little bit. Great high pressure to work in. Pause for dramatic effect. This is going to be pretty nice.

[00:02:49]Like really nice for days. So once we get through all this nonsense here today, we can relax and we can enjoy it for days on end. Okay, so let me take you through predictor here real quick.

[00:03:02]Look at the storm. They're still cooking here until about 10 and then they move to the south and really really start to fizzle pretty quickly. And then after that, maybe a teeny little shower right there. What? 2:00. Whose house is that over? Is that mayor? There's that over your house at 2:00 tomorrow. Like just a little bit maybe somewhere in county.

[00:03:20]That's about it. And then look at this.

[00:03:21]We're good. We're good for days. There's that little front that comes in Saturday from the north. Poof. Gone. Nothing. So we're good. Tonight we're going to go with about 62. The storm's early. That's now. And then we have fog late. Count on that. Also, this is going to be a foggy week ahead. When you get these cool nights, would you look at those temperatures? The weatherman should get a little accolade for that. Come on now.
