The update delivers a noticeably more fluid and human-like driving experience, finally moving past the hesitant behavior of earlier versions. However, gamifying safety with "streak tracking" is a double-edged sword that risks encouraging driver overconfidence in a system that still demands total attention.

Tesla Self-Driving 14.3.3: First Drive with New Update!Ajouté :
All right, we're here in Los Angeles and we've got a new build of Tesla self-driving. This is 14.3.3.
And this also includes a spring update which has a bunch of cool features in it.
So, let's get started.
We're going to be in Mad Max mode and we're going to ask it to try and park on the street.
And we're going to go grab a burger for lunch.
So, right away you can see there's a little new piece of information here the streak.
It's been 43.3 miles since my last intervention.
Tesla now keeps track of that for you and they've got a little bit of a self-driving app here where you can see some of that data and see some of those statistics.
So, you can see I've been using Tesla self-driving every day for the last 3 days. I've got a 3-day streak.
I'm 98% on self-driving.
And 43 miles on 14.3.3 since I've intervened.
So, this is my first drive in the daytime, but I was pretty impressed by what I saw on my nighttime drives last night. After I got it, I went to see a movie and had this thing drive me home.
And it felt much more refined than 14.3.2 did or or really any other build of 14.3 did.
14.3 was very good in many ways.
Most of the middle part of the drive felt very smooth and very human-like.
But, it definitely suffered from the same issues as early versions of 14 where it would be a little bit jittery, little bit hesitant, you know, sometimes you see the wheel moving left to right or you see it kind of braking kind of hard for something that it didn't need to.
And I've noticed that tends to happen in the model when they increase the reaction time it tends to get a little jittery.
Most of that seems to have been worked out now in 14.3.3.
This is kind of the first build of 14.3 that has the level of polish that you saw in something like 14.2.2.5.
So, this is really ready for everybody now. Ready for mom and dad.
Um, I think it's time to send it wide and there's a bunch of other cool new features they've added in addition to the self-driving app that I showed you.
You can now activate Grok by voice.
So, I could say for example, Hey Grok, uh Hey Grok, oh wait, maybe I need to turn it on. Yeah, because I'm in a I'm in a different profile here. So, I can actually show you guys how to turn it on. So, it's off by default so that you don't accidentally, you know, turn it on if if you don't want to. You can see right there in the Grok settings at the top.
Hey Grok.
And then it'll ask you for permission.
It's going to need to listen to your microphone.
Some people might be creeped out by that, but I think it's okay. It's all happening locally.
And now that feature's enabled. So, all I have to do is say, Hey Grok, you know, I I actually realized I need to pick up some printer paper for my office.
Is there any way on the way to my destination where I could pick up some printer paper?
First, destination? Then I can check for printer paper spots on the way.
Uh, my destination is Burger She Wrote in Los Angeles.
Yeah, there's a Staples just 0.3 mi away on Wilshire Boulevard. Open till 6:00.
Perfect for printer paper. Super close to your route to Burger She Wrote. Want me to add it as a stop first? Yeah, that'd be great. Please add that as a stop.
Got it. Added The Staples on Wilshire Boulevard as your first stop, then Burger She Wrote, about 4 minutes away total. Grab that paper quick. Okay, goodbye.
Cool. Safe drive.
All right, well, I'm going to remove that destination quickly.
Well, that's nice.
I was planning to turn right, but when I removed the destination, it very quickly rerouted and kept on route. I like that.
But, you can see basically that's how the feature works, and it's pretty awesome.
You can literally just be sitting here without lifting a finger, you can ask your car to take you somewhere.
Just ask it what you want. You don't even have to know where you're going.
And then you just say goodbye, and it goes away.
So, it's a really cool feature that actually makes the self-driving experience even cooler.
And yeah, you can see here it's just driving phenomenally.
I don't think Waymo or Zoox or any other self-driving system on Earth comes close to the level of comfort that we're seeing out of this thing here with Tesla self-driving.
All right, uh let me suggest this route because I think the restaurant is on that side.
But, yeah, you know, um it's interesting that they've started showing the streak.
I wonder if this means they've improved a lot on parking because parking is really the one reason I disengage.
Okay, that was some good uh caution there that it showed as there were some other cars approaching and turning left.
But yeah, parking is really the one reason I might take over. Sometimes it struggles to find a place to park in situations like this are often pretty challenging where we're just going to uh a burger restaurant in the middle of Los Angeles and there isn't necessarily a parking lot there. There's street parking, but most of the time all the street parking is going to be filled up.
So, it needs to look not exactly where the restaurant is. Oh, that was good.
This guy's pulling out of the parking lot here and it slowed and made sure to let him have his space.
I didn't even see that guy, but it noticed him before I did.
Very impressive.
So, yeah, situations like this where, you know, if I were driving to this restaurant, what I would do is I would really start looking for parking now. We're about 0.3 mi away. If there are any spots anywhere on this road, which really there aren't, you can see it's pretty packed, but even something like that, I would just go grab that spot and I would park in there and then I would just walk the rest of the way.
But, it doesn't seem to quite have that logic mastered yet. This is the first time I've really asked it to park.
So, let's see what it does.
But, yeah, in past builds, even with 14.3, it's kind of struggled to figure out what to do in a situation like this if there isn't Oh, guy ran out into the middle of the road and handled that well.
Yeah, um so, let's see if it's able to find parking.
The other thing that it can do now is smart summon can now go up to 8 mph instead of 6.
So, your car can actually operate driverlessly in a parking lot, come pick you up, and it's about 33% faster now.
So, it's really actually gotten very good. It's now using the same self-driving model that drives the car, but you don't have to be in the driver seat. You just push a button and your car comes and drives to you.
It's definitely going to turn some heads if you use it in a in a public place.
Okay, looks like there is maybe a parking spot here. It says no parking reserved for Open Sesame pick-up only.
But, it looks like it's actually just parking in a red zone.
So, this is obviously illegal.
I'm going to have to move it.
Um so I'm not going to break my streak and intervene. I'll let it put itself into park.
And then I'll have to go move it myself.
So, good park job bad parking selection.
Definitely needs to get better at uh knowing what areas it can park in.
But, overall pretty good drive. So, that's my first daytime drive with 1433.
Thanks for watching.
And I'll make sure to run some more tests and post a video for you guys.
Take care.
