This video argues that tribalism and selfish interests are the primary reasons people support politicians in Nigeria, rather than their capacity or qualifications. The speaker contends that this tribal politics prevents states like Edo and Benue from developing, as only one tribe controls the government while others are excluded. The speaker uses examples from successful states like Lagos, Delta, and Rivers to demonstrate that capacity-based governance leads to better outcomes. The speaker concludes that detribalization is essential for Nigeria's progress, warning that supporting tribal politics will result in corrupt and greedy governance.

WOWđ±100% CORRECT NOR BE L1E BECOS NOR OF DEM DEY WORK 4 NOTHING BITTER TRUTHAjoutĂ© :
There's two reason why people support politician.
Number one, tribalism.
>> [clears throat] >> He come from our state. He come from my village. He come from my senatorial district.
Number two, benefit. If this man win, it go it go benefit my my sister husband.
It go benefit my husband wife.
It go benefit my sister. It go benefit my papa. It go benefit my mama.
They go give me position. That's Number three, which is supposed to be the only reason why we support politician, their capacity.
What they represent.
But unfortunately, because of selfish interest and because of tribalism, we now support people that we are not supposed to support.
That's why things are not working in Nigeria. That's why you see state economy feast, e.g. Edo state.
We need to be fighting for capacity rather than tribalism.
If our place if Edo state is rated as the best state in Nigeria, we will all love it.
If we are rated as the most developed state in Nigeria, we will all love it.
Look at Lagos state. Look at Delta state. Look at Rivers state for instance. These states, they think about capacity.
Let me give you example of in our region.
E.g. like Benue state.
Do you know in Benue state, it's only one tribe that is bringing governor?
We have Tiv, we have Igede, we have the Idoma.
But it's only one tribe that is bringing government.
Go try these states.
Fulani has destroyed that state. You know why?
Other parts of the state are joining us to say since these people say we do not belong, we will wreck these states.
Are you getting my point?
We need to be careful.
We travel abroad.
If these people are playing nepotism politics, tribal politics, we will never be here.
And I see no reason why you will be living abroad, giving birth to your children abroad. Your children are going to good schools here, receiving good education, receiving government support here. Back home, you are saying it must be from my region.
Enough.
If these people are playing tribal politics, you will not be giving your sisters money and say come. You will not be telling your brothers to come. What we run from, let us stop supporting that nonsense. You can't go home simply because the state is not in good shape, but yet you are still playing politics of nepotism.
My side, my region.
If we do not fix things, nothing gets fixed.
As a human being, we need to be consulting our brain.
My brother has to be in office whether he's qualified or he's not qualified.
But so far he's from my place, he must be in office. Does that make sense?
Anyone that is performing, wherever they come from.
Drop sentiment aside, it won't work. It has never worked and it won't work. I live in a foreign country.
If I'm in Nigeria, I don't know what I would be doing and I will not look good as this.
Sometime when I look at my classmate or my mate that we grew up when I see them, I see difference between them and I.
Sometime we look ourselves, we can't guess our age because we're doing well.
We're living in a good environment.
Sometime when you see some people, you call bigger age for them which they are not up to that age because of the economic crisis in Nigeria.
Let's be realistic. Let's be detribalized for things to work for us.
After all, we all need good thing. What is your prayer?
Your prayer is for good things to happen to you. Then why are you supporting bad thing and then you expect good thing?
Whatsoever you sow, shall you reap.
If you are fighting for tribalism government, you will get a corrupt and absolute government of greediness.
There's still a reason why people support politician.
Number one, tribalism.
