This video demonstrates how meteorologists analyze and forecast weather patterns, including wind speeds, temperature deviations, and precipitation probabilities. The forecast shows gusty conditions with winds reaching 50 mph, temperatures 4° above normal, and a low pressure system moving through the region. The meteorologist explains that while today was breezy with gusts up to 50 mph, the weekend will be calmer with only 20-35 mph gusts, and no severe weather is expected. This illustrates how weather forecasts combine real-time observations with predictive models to provide accurate weather predictions for upcoming days.

Winds approaching 50 miles per hour!
Added:Uh, just hanging out by the garden. We were talking about the farmers market, so I was uh, showing you our very own farmers market for WNEP. Everybody has access to the garden, so if you are interested in peppers, Scott, or some tomatoes, they'll be ready in about a month. Uh, they're really looking great.
We got a good deal of rainfall this morning, but the rest of the day really turned out to be a great day for the exception of the winds. We were just talking about Wilkes-Barre at the farmers market. Here's what it looks like at the Diamond City right now, uh, with a beautiful uh, sky, but it still is a breezy one. It's still breezy this evening, even though we had those gusts up to 30, 40, 50 mph today. Gusts are still anywhere in the 20 to 25 mph range. Live view right now of Wilkes-Barre showing you 73 is the current temperature here in Scranton.
Winds west-northwest at 13 mph sustained, but these are down. Mount Pocono had winds sustained to 25 up until just about the past hour, so it has been a breezy day in the wake of a low pressure system that brought some severe weather to the southern tier of New York. Luckily, we missed out on all that activity, but we did see the winds and they were sustained up to near 50 in Williamsport, up to 43 in Scranton, up to 41 in Mount Pocono.
So, it was certainly a gusty day.
Temperatures today really warm. Normal high temperature 81, so we were 4° above average here in Scranton. We got up to near 90 in Williamsport, high temperature of nearly 80 in Mount Pocono. Now, that's off the heels of a 4-day stretch of temperatures below average, so really was a nice change in the script, but I want to point out we did have a pretty warm stretch of weather last week this time.
We're not going to see big fluctuations now for the next 7 days. I don't see any 90s in our forecast, and I don't see any 40s in our forecast, either. So, no big temperature swings as we go throughout the next 7, which is nice. It's nice to be in that Goldilocks zone as we head into the first week of summer, which officially begins on Sunday. We got a beautiful view right now with uh, satellite and radar, nothing but uh, mostly clear skies. Some shower still lingering there in parts of the Hudson Valley.
But the low pressure system now sliding up into Canada and bringing its axis of rainfall to Nova Scotia and Newfoundland. We had the wind filling in behind the low. That just goes to show how strong that low pressure system was bringing lots of severe weather as I said to parts of the southern tier of New York. We're not going to see any severe net weather now all through the weekend. No rain really through the weekend. Maybe just a stray shower late Saturday. Otherwise, it looks great. So here's future clouds and radar mostly clear tonight. Tomorrow maybe a few clouds further south in the morning.
Otherwise, it's a mostly sunny day. Just a few cumulus clouds in the sky throughout the day. Those are those puffy looking ones. The ones that look like cotton balls. Then throughout Friday night, mostly clear into Saturday morning.
Watch how things change slightly though Saturday afternoon. See more cloud cover and maybe a spot or stray shower in western and central Pennsylvania.
Clinton, Lycoming counties maybe 20% chance of a shower. If you live in Monroe, Carbon, Pike, Wayne counties, no risk of a rain shower at all on Saturday. This looks like it primarily is contained in central Pennsylvania and it happens between 3:00 and 7:00. If you don't see one, you're not going to see one. If you do see one, it'll be very passing.
Maybe a bit of fog early Sunday morning, but Sunday is looking like a very dry day. Now both Friday and Saturday will be basically highlighted by its winds. Just like we had today, only dialed back a notch. I'd say winds gusting tomorrow afternoon 20 to 25. They do die back somewhat tonight, but by the afternoon once again, they're gusting 20 to 30 on our hilltops.
I don't think we're going to have gusts 40-50 like we did today, but still a breezy day. And then into Saturday, dying back overnight Friday into Saturday. Saturday afternoon, a renewed potential chance of 25 to 35 mph gusts.
And then we go pretty calm for Sunday.
Humidity's going to be nice and low.
It's going to be comfortable all the way through the next 5 days. It's really going to be a fantastic stretch of weather for the exception of Monday.
Looks like more widespread rainfall activity. But this weekend looks great.
Sunday is both Father's Day and the first day of summer, the summer solstice.
Temperatures right around 80°, lots of sunshine and low humidity. There's a look at your 7-day forecast. It's going to be nice for the exception of Monday, just a few showers expected. And maybe a few showers again on Thursday.
Otherwise, this is a really nice stretch of weather, Scott. We are very lucky because down in the south in the gulf, they are dealing with post-tropical Arthur. Anywhere from 1 to 5 in of rain. So we're very lucky to be here in Pennsylvania.
>> Yeah, we'll take it. All right. Thanks, Jeremy.
