'The Devil Wears Prada 2' premieres at Lincoln Center

[00:00:00]last night at Lincoln Center, the stars of Runway hit the runway at the world premiere of The Devil Wears Prada 2. And look at this legend right here, Meryl Streep and Anne Hathaway stunning in red back as editor-in-chief Miranda Priestly and Andy Sachs in this chic yet cutthroat sequel. Oh, who who is that?

[00:00:17]Is that Lady Gaga? Okay, she's even gracing the red carpet last night. Yes, with a special little cameo in the movie and we'll leave it at that. Ahead of the premiere, I sat down with this iconic duo, Meryl Streep and Anne Hathaway.

[00:00:33]Hello. Well, look what TJ Maxx dragged in. We all have a connection to this film. So, what was it like for the two of you reuniting not just on camera, on screen, but also in person as [music] friends? Yeah, well, we had been in touch over the years and I had made a movie, maybe a couple of movies with Stanley. I can't even remember. Certainly with Emily a couple of other movies in the interim. So, we were all kind of connected in that way, but to get the band back It's special, right?

[00:01:06]>> the leather on.

[00:01:09]Yank it up, yeah.

[00:01:10]That's [laughter] right. We cracked it up. It was really fun. Who is this? Do you know her? Do I know her? I'm Andy Sachs, Andrea. She was one of the Emilys. One of the what?

[00:01:22]>> I feel like these two characters really need each other more than they realize.

[00:01:26]So, did you feel that through the film and and maybe in in real life here with this legend? I mean, I need Meryl far more than she needs me. That's [laughter] 100%.

[00:01:35]>> that ends up not being true.

[00:01:38]That's true. [laughter] No spoilers, no spoilers. I'm talking about us more.

[00:01:42]Right, right, right, right. No, and then and then you're right. In the in the movie, no spoilers, but [music] if in the in the in the first movie, Andy's heroic action was throwing the phone in the fountain and walking away, well, maybe she's at a stage in her life where she wants to be on a team.

[00:01:56]>> [music] >> Maybe maybe she doesn't want to quit.

[00:01:58]Maybe she wants to be in it and fight from, you know, inside the castle. I am the new features editor at Runway. No, you are not. Yeah, we are all so thrilled.

[00:02:06]>> It looked like the most fun. Like, how many outfits were you trying on and do you get to actually keep any of the threads?

[00:02:11]>> didn't keep them for for good reason.

[00:02:13]So, um we're auctioning them off actually. So, the costumes are being auctioned off for benefit the Committee for to protect journalists. Which is so important. And my favorite line in the movie was, "Journalism is an important."

[00:02:26]>> [laughter] >> And I felt it. You are here to help us through all our current scandals. Click, click, click, click everywhere.

[00:02:33]So, guys, how cool is that? The benefits of this auction for all the costumes going directly to benefit journalism, which is a big part of the movie, The Devil Wears Prada 2, in theaters on May 1st. Next hour, we'll have a little more fun with Miss Hathaway and Meryl Streep.

[00:02:46]All I'm saying is a layer of clothing is coming off. What? Yours or hers? Well, it ain't Mike Woods, so must be me.
