[00:00:03]Bengal's new BJP government has [music] got off on the wrong foot with Muslims.

[00:00:07]But what if I told you that there is one seat in Kolkata which it could not have won without Muslim votes? [music] Okay. Okay. Hear me out. Last week I wrote about the bizarre case of Rajarhat New Town.

[00:00:20]At the end of the last round of counting >> [music] >> on 4th May, the Trinamool Congress was winning it by 316 votes.

[00:00:27]But the next day, this result flipped thanks to a [music] mysterious extra round of counting.

[00:00:32]The margin of victory was still 316 votes, but the BJP was the new winner.

[00:00:37]The extra votes seemed to be from just one EVM.

[00:00:40]Where did it come from? And why were its votes considered [music] after counting had ended?

[00:00:48]The Election Commission may not have an explanation, but my colleague Ayush Tiwari [music] does. He found that mysterious EVM buried in this document.

[00:00:57]Five votes for Trinamool, 637 for BJP.

[00:01:01]Enough to flip [music] the final outcome. These results are from polling station 164, located in Musalmanpara.

[00:01:07]Going by these numbers, at least 94% Muslim voters must have supported BJP here.

[00:01:13]Interesting, isn't it?

[00:01:17]Usually only 5 to 7% Muslims vote for it in Bengal.

[00:01:21]And 5% votes is what the BJP got in polling station 165, also in Musalmanpara. So I suppose the BJP owes a big thank you to the Muslims of this neighborhood.
