When institutional leaders engage in inappropriate behavior toward vulnerable individuals, those individuals have the right to publicly confront the institution and demand accountability, as demonstrated when Hannah Campbell, a Tennessee high school student, confronted the Washington County School Board after board member Keith Ervin called her 'hot' during a public meeting, criticizing the board's failure to remove him despite his 2006-2023 tenure.

UPDATE: Student CONFRONTS School Board Member Who Called Her ‘Hot’ at MeetingAdded:
student confronts the school board member who called her hot. Here it is.
>> I am Hannah Campbell, a resident of Jonesboro, and I'm here to comment on the April 2nd meeting. To begin, I want to address Irvin's actions, which were not only unwelcome, but sexist and derogatory. I know this because he has not behaved this way with any of our male members, nor do I believe that he ever would. I do not wish to beat a dead horse as everyone here has clear context as to what happened was wrong. The failure to act on the board's behalf was and is equivalent to his actions as it has hurt me just as much. To watch the chairperson be so quick to bang her gavvel to control the public yet not use it once in order to control her own peer was disgusting. I understand the shock.
I was there. But it is her responsibility to control and represent this board. You all have done a poor job at that representation. Gaining global attention for sexual comments and assault is not the reputation that Washington County deserves. Everyone on this board shares that blame just as every voter who put you into office shares that responsibility.
I believe that you are all cowards, especially those who use their god as a copout or forgiveness.
Just as religion is not allowed in schools by authority figures, it has no place on this in this boardroom or any professional setting.
If you choose to forgive him, that is your right, but own it. What you lack is accountability, and that just might be the most disturbing part. I do not forgive you and I do not for and I do not accept your fake apologies used to protect yourselves. I do not believe that you deserve that peace of mind. So every time that you feel a little bit of discomfort from the public, I want you to remember that it isn't even a fraction of what I felt on April 2nd.
That's Hannah Camp, student who became a victim by way of a board member calling her hot.
Um, Hannah, not only am I proud of you, I'm thankful for you. You see, you have moral clarity.
You have integrity about systems and protocols.
You're not just um justifiably upset.
you are categorically um within your rights to call out that entire damn board because see they are the ones who protect the corrupt actors.
You are the leader that you've been looking for.
And thankfully, you will be our future leader of this nation, not cowards um like the ones you're addressing. Put it up full.
It's a damn shame that they could not force this guy to resign or remove him immediately, but Hannah Campbell faced her villain.
In an update, Hannah Campbell, Tennessee high school student, never should have been in this situation. She never should have to address adults and be the voice of moral clarity.
High school students spoke out against the school board member a month after he called her hot during a meeting. Also slammed the board who only voted to send him cowards at a Washington County board meeting Thursday, May 7th. Hannah Campbell described board member Keith Irvin's actions on April 2nd as unwelcome, sexist, and derogatory.
During that meeting, which was live streamed, Irvin touched the student and remarked, quote, "God, you're hot.
You know that.
Where do you go to school at?"
end quote.
The board called for uh an emergency meeting. Now, this this was a big enough deal for them uh to get off their lazy cow ass to have an emergency session.
Um not because they cared about Miss Campbell, but because they needed to do damage control.
Okay.
Um so they discussed Irvin's remark which resulted in a vote to um c him.
Iran who has been a board member since 2006 previously defended his remarks. Now here's what he said. He claimed that by hot uh he meant that Campbell was um um on a roll due to her questions during the meeting and had quote nothing to do with her appearance. Quote, "Obviously, I've seen the clip. Look, I get it. If that's all you're seeing, I understand why people are reaching the way they are, but that's not the full conversation. Not even close." End quote. He said in the statement, um, now when you hear him read like he reads the statement like I meant what I meant was she was on the row. It's it's ridiculous. You could tell he he don't believe what the hell he's right. Somebody type that for him.
After the fact, okay, that's pro probably what they discussed in that emergency meeting.
There's more. At Thursday's meeting, Irvin was present. Campbell said that all the board members did a poor job in representing the board. Quote, gaining global attention for sexual comments and assault. She's a and she's a student, everybody. She's a student, not a coworker, not a colleague. That would have been bad enough.
She's a student.
Um, for sexual comments and assault is not the reputation that Washington County deserves. She said, quote, "Everyone on this board shares the blame, just as every voter who put you in office shares that responsibility." Quote, "So every time that you feel a little bit of discomfort."
Um, yeah.
All right. So, um, let me just zoom out for for a moment.
So she's a student. The the remark she said it was unwelcome.
She she can't she's a student. You can't you can't welcome it anyway. There's no scenario where that's okay. Period.
Uh you know Hannah if if you run for office uh let me know so I can send you a contribution. if you run against him in particular. Um, I make sure uh that senator attorney said you want to. All right, Senator thoughts here.
>> Absolutely, Doc. I wrote down Hannah for school board president. That's what I wrote to you and I on the same you can't even see my notes, but definitely big ups for to her. She should not have had to defend herself like that. I don't know where her parents >> were. I mean, maybe she she's an upper classman in high school, so maybe she felt like she wanted to do this herself.
But I tell you what, if I was her mother or her father, I would have been right there, right there. And uh Mr. Irvin, let's just say I'll be waiting for you outside. That's what's going to happen there. And if he doesn't comports himself like that in a public meeting towards Hannah, this is not probably probably not the first time that he has comported himself like that. And he felt he had no impulse control and he felt very comfortable in that public environment. got to say that about Hannah. So, most likely she is not the only one. Dirty old man comes to mind for me. And that board as Hannah laid out absolutely failed her and they fell in other students and the adults, not just only in that room, but the adults of that community should push for that man to be off the board. You said he was there since 2006. This No, 20 I think 20 years is good. Go and retire him.
>> Yeah. 2006.
>> Yeah.
>> Uh so so he's comfortable in that position. And here's the irony, Senator.
>> He governs the behavior of teachers.
If a teacher said that exact same comment to that student, that teacher is gone by way of his vote, but he's still there. That's the irony.
