The Real Story Behind Gurgaon’s Growth | Ft. Rajesh Khullar Principal Secretary, CM HaryanaAdded:
How do you look at Gurgaon growth? How do you look at Gurgaon as a case study?
Are you happy where Gurgaon is at today?
Oh, certainly. I have directly worked in this city twice. Once as additional deputy commissioner, later as commissioner of the newly set up municipal corporation for a couple of years before going to government of India. Have you been to Aravalli Biodiversity Park ever? I want to.
Please do. You will change your opinion, right? So, we see only, you know, this gap that you said. But then, there are good things that have happened. When I went there as commissioner one day, this is about 564 acres of land, if I remember correctly.
And it was getting encroached. The whole damn marble market there. And then, you know, solid waste being >> [music] >> reprocessed, reused, recycled there.
Some huts and tenements. I went there, had a walk. There was a architect [music] here, Atul Kapoor. And there was a lady by the name Latika Tokhran. They had set up an NGO called I Am Gurgaon. So, we went around.
And, you know, that place was the way you were describing, worst places you've [music] seen. And then, that day I decided that okay, we have to change it.
