[00:02:04]These words and actions of welcome spoken across cultures are far more than polite formalities.

[00:02:14]They carry within them respect, love, blessing, and a deep desire for connection.

[00:02:24]When we greet one another, we affirm relationship.

[00:02:30]We acknowledge that we belong to one another.

[00:02:34]Our cultural greetings remind us that communion is at the heart of being human.

[00:02:42]As stated in Laudato Si, we are linked by unseen bonds and form a kind of universal family.

[00:02:53]Yet today, we are invited to move even deeper.

[00:02:59]Can we extend this same spirit of love, respect, and blessing [music] beyond one another to all of creation?

[00:03:10]Francis of Assisi showed us a way of seeing the world not as something to dominate, but as family.

[00:03:20]Brother sun, sister moon, Pope Francis echoed this vision in Laudato Si, inviting us to rediscover a loving awareness that we are not disconnected from the rest of creatures, but joined in splendid universal communion.

[00:03:46]All creatures are linked by unseen bonds to form a universal family reflecting the mystery of the Trinity.

[00:03:58]Such awareness, however, does not grow automatically.

[00:04:04]It begins when we slow down.

[00:04:07]When we allow ourselves to be silent and to listen.

[00:04:13]If we listen attentively, we may hear something disturbing.

[00:04:19]The groaning of a wounded earth.

[00:04:23]Forests stripped bare.

[00:04:26]Oceans polluted.

[00:04:28]Lands eroded by rising sea levels.

[00:04:32]And land scarred by violence and exploitation. [music] The suffering of creation mirrors our own restlessness and pain.

[00:04:46]When nature suffers, humanity is wounded, too.

[00:04:51]We lose touch with who we are as creatures, deeply connected and dependent.

[00:05:00]So, what might conversion look like today?

[00:05:04]Saint Marcellin Champagnat offered a simple, yet profound wisdom.

[00:05:12]Stay close to the land.

[00:05:15]Turned turned a garden.

[00:05:18]Touch the soil.

[00:05:21]When our hands enter the earth, when we watch seeds slowly break open into life, we witness the quiet mystery of growth and interdependence.

[00:05:36]Nothing [music] exists alone.

[00:05:39]Everything belongs.

[00:05:42]Perhaps this is where compassion for the earth is born.

[00:05:47]Not in grand gestures, but in attentive presence.

[00:05:52]To be present to creation is also to be present to God.

[00:05:58]It is a gift we can offer, not only to people, but to all that God [music] has made.

[00:06:08]As brother Francis once was stated, God in everything.

[00:06:14]God everywhere.

[00:06:17]God alone.

[00:06:19]We learn to see God everywhere, in one another, in the soil beneath our feet, and in the fragile beauty of our common home.

[00:06:32]And may our lives become a gentle greeting of love and respect [music] to all creation.
