Walleye keep hope alive, beat Fort Wayne Komets to take game 5

[00:00:00]Inside the Huntington Center where the rink is now transformed getting ready for Perrysburg's graduation later today but on the ice last night the Toledo Walleye doing it again. Often times it's said that closing out a series is the hardest game to win and well Fort Wayne experiencing that reality in a big way.

[00:00:17]The fish trying to stave off elimination in back-to-back nights fans ready to play their part and the hero from game four Riley Funk locked in and hungry for another win. Momentum may or may not have carried over into game five but the Walleye setting the tone once again first period Cam Hausinger forces a turnover which leads to Kyle Gaffney one-on-one with the goalie. He goes top shelf and that gets the bank tank rocking.

[00:00:42]Less than 2 minutes later Toledo working the puck around eventually it bounces open in front and Jacob Truscott there to put it home his first of the playoffs and the fish double the lead.

[00:00:53]And they would continue to light up the scoreboard which helped out Carter Gielander who stood on his head tonight just in case 27 saves for him including this two-stopping sequence. The Walleye not going down without a fight. They net the win 4-1 and force a game six in Fort Wayne on Tuesday.

[00:01:10]We built ourselves some momentum and let them know that we're not going to go down without a fight and you know our mindset doesn't really change it's it's one game one shift at a time and we just keep chipping away at it. I feel like we did a great job limiting their odd mans and limiting their their grade A chances.

[00:01:25]We're getting great blocks especially on the kill there in the second period helping myself out to make it easier on me and you know that's when we play strong defensively like that you you see the result. They're going to be they're going to be pretty mad too coming out and you know they're going to have an edge through the game. You know they're trying to end their season so you know we got to play with the same fight and be ready to go. It was awesome. No better place to do it at.
