In this hadith narrated by Abdullah ibn Umar, Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) dreamt of being given a cup of milk, which he drank until he was fully satisfied, then gave the remainder to Umar ibn al-Khattab. The Prophet interpreted this dream as symbolizing knowledge, explaining that milk represents knowledge because it is pure, wholesome, and nourishing—just as knowledge nourishes the heart and mind. The Prophet's complete satisfaction from the milk indicates the perfection and completeness of the knowledge granted to him by Allah, while giving the remainder to Umar ibn al-Khattab highlights his great share of understanding and deep insight in religion. This hadith teaches that knowledge is one of the greatest blessings from Allah and a means of elevation in this life and the hereafter, and that every Muslim should strive to seek knowledge as it is nourishment for the soul and a path to guidance and success.

Milk as a Symbol of Knowledge本站添加:
Narrated by Abdullah ibn Umar, may Allah be pleased with them both. He said, "I heard the messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, say, 'While I was sleeping, I was given a cup of milk, and I drank from it until I could see the satisfaction flowing through my fingernails.
Then I gave my remaining share to Umar ibn al-Khattab.'
They asked, 'How did you interpret it, O messenger of Allah?'
He said, 'Knowledge.'
Reported by al-Bukhari.
This Hadith shows the great status and virtue of knowledge in Islam.
The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, compared knowledge to milk because milk is pure, wholesome, and nourishing, just as knowledge nourishes the heart and mind.
The fact that the Prophet drank until he was fully satisfied indicates the perfection and completeness of the knowledge and revelation granted to him by Allah.
Giving the remainder to Umar ibn al-Khattab, may Allah be pleased with him, indicates his great share of understanding and deep insight in religion, and that he would be among the most knowledgeable and firmest in truth among the companions.
The Hadith clearly shows that knowledge is one of the greatest blessings from Allah and a means of elevation in this life and the hereafter.
It also highlights the high status of Umar ibn al-Khattab in wisdom and understanding.
Therefore, every Muslim should strive to seek knowledge, as it is nourishment for the soul and a path to guidance and success.
