Weather Impact Alert in Northeast Ohio: Severe storms possible later TuesdayAdded:
We do have [music] a chance for some severe storms tonight. Chief Betsy Kling is in studio looking at this for us.
Hey, Bets.
>> Hey there, Kristie. We're keeping a very close eye on the radar off to the west.
That's where a line of storms currently resides and will continue to move eastward. These are packing a bit of a punch not only with the heavy rain, with the gusty winds, but possibility of hail as well. If we zoom the picture out a little bit, we even have a few showers that are starting to pop down to the south of Tuscarawas County. So, heads up for you folks in places like Uhrichsville and over toward Carrollton.
This is all going to start to move off to the northeast. But, the main line sits out just to the west of Sandusky and as this all continues to move from southwest to northeast, the entire line is making some eastward progression.
There is a severe thunderstorm watch that is in place right now. Our only county in our viewing area that is affected by that is Erie County, but the storms really kind of just seeing what's going to happen with these as we head through the rest of the evening. As far as the forecast goes, we are talking about those storms continuing to move to the east. So, we're kind of putting up our weather impact alert for the rest of the evening as these rain and storms have developed and now they'll be moving through the area. Here's the National Weather Service our-by-our forecast. We are still sitting with plenty of heat, plenty of humidity, and now we're going to bring those thunderstorms in. As you can see, we're probably going to see some scattered storms along that same line through 7:00. We move eastward by 8:00, 9:00, 10:00, even more of these showers and storms will be crossing the area. So, again, biggest threat going to be heavy downpours, maybe some gusty winds, and hail as well. We'll have updates on what the rest of the night looks like and Kristie, a big change in the air coming in tomorrow in just a few minutes.
>> Yeah, I'm aware, Bets. I listen to you.
Thank you. We'll talk to you more about that in just a moment.
