In pigeon breeding, physical appearance and racing performance do not always correlate with breeding quality; some of the ugliest pigeons can become the best breeders, as demonstrated by the breeder's queen 84, which despite having loose vents and the weakest wing, proved to be his best breeding hand.

[music] [music] I remember when it all [singing] began.
You couldn't keep your body from my hand.
I remember nights [music] we felt so [singing] close.
How we got [music] so distant? I don't know.
>> What's up, guys? This is Jose [music] with Bara Family Loft. And for this video, I'm here in my young bird loft, guys. I'm going to share with you guys a couple of the pigeons in here and talk about some big news, guys. Now, all these young birds have different destinations in life, which is beautiful. Some of them are going to be in my auction, so they're going to be breeders for some of you guys. And my auction is going to be in October, November, and December of this year, 2026. It's gonna be big, guys. They're from my top genetics from my loft that I've bred specifically for the auction.
And there's going to be different type of birds, guys, for you guys to pick.
Any bird that doesn't get selected is going to be racing for me here, homing pigeons. But I have a feeling all the birds are going to sell, guys. I got a lot of you guys asking about my auction, and it's going to be huge. It's going to be huge. So, for that auction, it's going to be October, November, December.
October is mainly going to be youngsters. November is going to be a mix of youngsters and one loft race birds that are returning. And then in December, again, youngsters and ORR birds that are returning. It's going to be three big big auctions, guys. And uh yeah, that's the majority of these birds are going to be for that. Some of these birds weren't selected for the OLRs because I didn't like them at the time.
I didn't like their body or, you know, to go compete out in the money races.
But that doesn't mean they're going to be good breeders, guys. That doesn't mean they're going to be good breeders.
My quoteunquote ugliest pigeons have been are my best breeders. My queen 84, one of the ugliest pigeons I have in my loft. Not a pintail. Um, loose vents, the weakest wing, but man oh man, she's my best breeding hand. So, some of these birds are going to be in the auction, you know, if they come from great genetics. And guys, every bird in my auction is a bird that I will keep myself in the breeding program. I'm not going to give away or put up for sale anything I wouldn't keep. Now, those birds that I don't like are going to be proving themselves here as homing pigeons. And now, also, some of these youngsters are staying for stock for me.
For example, some of these little recessive reds that I've shown before, they're staying for stock for me. Other ones are going to still be going out to one loft races like the Florida Pigeon Derby. And if you guys want to partner up with me for the Florida Pigeon Derby, feel free to reach out, guys. I'm still taking people. They're accepting until the end of June. So, we still got time, guys. We still got time. I got about four teams that I need to send birds to.
I have birds, guys. You guys can see I have birds. And a lot of these are really nice that are ready to go out next week. Now, let me share with you guys some of the birds. Now, to start things off, I have this little dark check that I just separated today. And man, she is beautiful. You guys can see it. Just separated her today. This girl is directly off my 47.
Now, the mom of this bird is my 47. She was first placed in average speed at the Martinez Classic before the final race by over 10 minutes. There was over a thousand pigeons at that race. And man, to be over 10 minutes in average speed is crazy. And this is a youngster off that hen. And the father of this bird is a GFL bird. Now, this bird in two weeks is going to be going out to a one loft race in a partnership team. Most likely the Florida Pigeon Derby, guys. So, you guys can see the quality of my partnership birds, guys, from that 47.
Beautiful, beautiful hand. Next up, I got this beautiful grizzle. This is from the lines Bareras Grizzles. Now, this beautiful grizzle is already sold. It's actually going out to its new home in two weeks.
This comes from my Princess Wanda and white pearl Porsche double granddaughter of my base breeding grizzle hen.
Beautiful, beautiful grizzle. Now, this is the type of quality of grizzles that I'm going to be offering in my auction just like that. But from that specific pair, they sold out like this this year, guys, which thank you guys so much for the support. Go check out my website and check out the Vera's Grizzle section so you guys can see all the pairs that I have right now at the moment. The first pair is that the parents of this bird and they're sold out. Look, she wants to fly. Is she gonna fly? But they're sold out, guys. They're sold out. I If I could get an extra two, that'll be great. But they're pretty much sold out.
Now, here's another one of my grizzles.
Now, this bird is going to be available.
It's a really nice bird. This is from my grizzle line times another line, which I'm not going to say. You guys have to wait and see. But you guys can see this bird is really active, really strong bird. This is a what I could say is this bird is a half brother or sister to baby boy. My equal first at the apple cup.
Beautiful grizzle. Now speaking of baby boy, you guys can see the grizzle I just had is fighting up there. Look at that.
Now here is a daughter of baby boy. This girl came out blue bar white flights.
Now this girl is off baby boy my equal first at the apple cup. And you guys can see single white flight only. And the mother of this bird is a daughter of Prince Porsche. So the genetics on this blue bar white flights hen is absolutely insane. From a first place ORR winner times a daughter of a famous famous European pigeon. Very active hand. You guys can see. Look at the quality. This bird's going to be available in the auction, guys. Man, this is going to be one super super hand. This is a granddaughter of Prince Porsche. You guys can see she does not like to be handled, man. Beautiful. Now, here's one of the older birds that I did not select for an OLR, but man, how he has changed.
Feather quality is amazing. Man, I might end up sending him. Now, this guy is directly off a first place OLr winner, Central Valley Queen.
And this bird will most likely be in the auction directly off an ORR winner.
Beautiful eye.
And the father is from the lines Picasso. Here I got another grizzle.
This is a double granddaughter of my shiny Eevee. This is going to be a really nice little hen that will be available, guys. Super super body on this girl.
I mean, really nice solid hand, guys.
Wow. Double granddaughter of my shiny Eevee.
My first place winning Grizzle. And she's also a double granddaughter of my Jen Ardan Dark Knight.
Beautiful, beautiful hand. Really nice.
Solid one. Now, here I'm going to share with you guys a recessive red that I'm keeping for stock. This bird is directly off my two recessive red imports from Airy Dystra.
The mother of this bird is my Eevee, who is the mother of my shiny Eevee, my first place winning Grizzle. And man, I'm just going to grow my recessive red line. So, I'm keeping all the youngsters from this pair. It's a brother and sister mating. I got the mother. She did very well for me. And I was like, I need a brother or a relative. And there was a brother available. I picked them up, placed them together, and their first two are staying for stock. And this is one of them. You guys can see the stance on this bird. Now, I'm going to try to get at least six youngsters from this pair and and have them breeding next year. And then their youngsters are going to be going out to OLR partnership teams and also for my future sales, guys. So, that's how it is. That's how it is. That's how it is. Now, if you guys really like that one, I really Now, if you guys really like that recessive red and you're like, "Jose, I want some recessive red from your bloodline this year, are you gonna have any available?"
Yes, I am. Look at this bird. Pintail recessive red. What a wing, man. I might have to keep this guy. Like, look at that. Now, this bird comes from a full sibling of my shiny Eevee. So, this is a granddaughter. No, this looks like a This is a grandson of my Eevee, my recessive red base breeder, my import.
But listen to this. His parents are two black pigeons. Two black pigeons. The brother of my shiny Eevee is a pure black pigeon. He's a son of my recessive red hen. Now, the reason why he came out black, the father of this bird, is because his father is a white and black pigeon, a grizzle pigeon, but white and black. And so, it came out pure black like the genetics of the father. And the red comes from the genes of the mom. The reason why this bird came out red is cuz of his grandmother, Eevee, mother of my black pigeon. Hope that makes sense, guys. Hope that makes sense. Um, I'll explain it one more time. A just a little simple. The father of this bird is a black pigeon. And that black pigeon is a son of my recessive red hen. And that black pigeon got placed with another black hen. and they produce this red. The only way to get a red is through the genetics of the grandmother.
And man, here he is. Now, his nestmate is a black hen is a black pigeon and she's here as well. And she would be offered as well in the auction. But don't get it twisted, guys. The black genetics are great. Now, the hen now, the mother of this bird, which is a black pigeon as well, she produced my fourth place at the Royal Cup, winning $5,000. She, that hen was paired up with Elfe. They produced a grizzle and they got the $5,000 bird. Fourth place in the final. So, she's a great bird as well, guys. It's a great pair on paper from a fool's brother to a first place winner to a proven breeding head. But, I hope that makes sense. I just I'm very excited because this guy is very nice.
Very, very nice, guys. So, this recessive red will be available. I did have a total of six youngsters from this pair and so far two came out recessive red and the other four came out black.
The first recessive red was shown at the beginning of the year. Already sold, already left. But, uh, I'm gonna keep this one. I got a couple people asking for reds. I'm gonna keep this one because I need to have some for the auction. And so far, this is the only one. And oh my god.
Oh my god. This guy's going to be nice.
This guy is going to be nice. So, if you guys are looking for a quality red, he's going to be really nice, guys. And I just separated him today. A lot of these youngsters, so that's why I'm making this video. Here I got another one of the older birds. Beautiful, beautiful hand. This girl comes from my daughter of Prince Porsche as well.
Her feather quality is amazing from this hand.
Absolutely beautiful.
Directly from my daughter of Prince Porsche. This hand just amazing. Wow. Let me share with you guys the nestmate of the red from the two black pigeons. And this one came out black so you guys can see. Now here is another one that will be available. This is a Grizzle Splash. Absolutely beautiful.
This Grizzle is a half sibling to my 47, my first place in average speed at the Martinez Classic. This is also a granddaughter of Elfe, my best breeding grizzle at the loft. And her father is from the lines of best kiddo. So beautiful, beautiful hand. Great genetics on this girl does not like to be handled. You guys saw I just got slapped. But um that hand is going to be nice as well. There's so many nice ones, guys. And I'm literally just grabbing the ones that are on the floor. Like, let me grab this guy as well. Right.
This blue check comes from my winning lines of the Gabby.
Jesus. This guy is nice. This guy is solid. If you guys want some winning genetics for OLr, this is the one right here. I won with my partnership with that with this line. I've won with my partnership with this line. It's just done very well. The ORR race is especially for the final race, guys. And that's what we want to win the final race.
Beautiful, beautiful bird. Now, let me share you guys Now, let me share with you guys a couple more. Actually, I'm going to share with you guys one more because the video is getting kind of long and I do not want this to be any longer. And the last one is another blue check. Beautiful little blue check. Oh, let me grab her again. All right. Now, this blue check hen looks like a hen.
Her feather quality is insane. That's the first thing you feel when you grab a pigeon. She's directly from my first place winning ORR winner, my boy. First place at the America's Average Speed Championship. And the mother of this bird is from my Grizzle Genetics.
But you guys can see the blue check from my first place. Yeah, another really solid choice for the breeding. Great, great little hen. And uh yeah guys, you guys just see a little preview of some of the birds that are going to be offered in the auction, but also um some of the birds that might be going out to OLR like that first dark check that I shared with you guys for sure going out to our partnership team in the Florida pigeon derby. So if you guys want to partner up, contact me. Very excited, guys. We got big plans ahead after the breeding season. you know, we're going to produce all the birds here, get them here, raise them through the molds, through their first molds, get them all healthy and ready to go when it's time for the auction. And uh yeah, and then they're going to you guys are going to get your birds and they should be ready for breeding because birds that don't race mature faster. If you guys don't know that, for example, if you keep a bird here in the loft, like a hen, she'll mature way faster than a bird that's focused on racing, that's been racing. It's just it's just how it is.
But yeah, guys, hope you guys enjoy this video and I'll see you guys on the next
