Warmer weather today before wet & cool system moves into New Mexico

[00:00:00]Uh if you're going to be doing any gardening this weekend, the soil might be a little soft here in the metro after Friday, but you got to take advantage of it, right? Yeah. Uh it's going to be a little bit cooler, wetter later in the week. This morning, widely varying temperatures. 32 degrees at freezing in Grant, 73 right now in Carlsbad, 30° in places like Alamosa, 50 Albuquerque, 42 Santa Fe. While we're at 54 in Clovis, we're much cooler and a bit more humid in Clayton. 35 66 humid in Hobs, 63 and dry in Roswell, 55 Sakora, 49 Silver City. So yeah, although no precipitation this morning for almost all areas, differences in temperatures and humidity. These are the temperatures we need for us to receive due. Look at that due point at right around negative5 in Grants with the air temperature of freezing but the air temperatures closer to the due points in Hobs. So we're more humid and with the due point of 33 in Clayton and the air temperature 35 where much more humid those northeasterly winds moving through east New Mexico.

[00:01:06]But we will remain very mild and dry this afternoon from the Rio Grande Valley to the west. Looking at Red River right now, looking calm, 47% humidity and air temperature 33. A winter storm watch is in effect for parts of northern New Mexico. More on that just a bit.

[00:01:21]Yeah, these green returns, not likely rain activity, but we're dealing with clouds funneling on through southern New Mexico as well as northern areas as well. Still courtesy of the upper level winds screaming on through from the west. Warming up in the upper 70s today in Albuquerque. Lower 70s Santa Fe, 80s Toako, low 90s Carlsbad, 70s in Tukum Carry, 60s in Clayton. So more seasonal to the northeast, very warm in far southeastern areas and from the Rio Grandi Valley to the west, temperatures seasonably warm out there. And as the Taes take on the El Paso Chihuahua this evening for our 605 start, temperatures in the upper 70s, then clouds, mild and dry, so a good evening of baseball.

[00:02:05]First pitch temperatures in the 70s toward the end of the game, dropping in the upper 60s with high thin clouds, no rain activity. Maybe a couple sprinkles in far southern areas as well as in the northeastern highlands around Raton. Now later tomorrow, it'll get more interesting. Heavier showers of rain, lightning strikes, and maybe some wet snow activity in the Simmeron range in the Sangre de Christrista Mountains to the ski Santa Fe basin. Look at those showers moving through from southwest New Mexico. So we have moisture moving on through. Winter storm watches for around Raton, Red River, including in Mula, closer to the I25 corridor near to the south of Wagamount and around the ski Fe basin, even a parts of Union County near De Moine. Tomorrow morning through Friday evening, snow activity will ramp upwards of several inches to more than a foot of snow possible in the northern mountain peaks including the Tus range, the San Juan Mountains. some snow to the Hemis mountains and look at that the Sandas to the western mountains. Even a dusting at least as that cool front pushes through to the west. Upper level moisture coming in from the opposite direction. The atmosphere will squeeze out moisture and heavier rain showers. At least a half an inch of rain possible on parts of east New Mexico late tomorrow night and Friday morning. Snow activity in the northern mountains and leftover precipitation will form out west as that front moves to the west. Albuquerque, light amounts of precipitation. Santa Fe, mostly a chilly rain activity event.

[00:03:34]And Durango, you may nearby in the foothills mixing with snow. High temperatures you may not get out of the 50s on Friday with some lightning strikes. But meanwhile today, 60s partly to mostly sunny. Pagosa Springs, low 60s today. Farmington, Cuba, and Gallup.

[00:03:48]Highs in the high 60s, low 70s. Lows ranging from the upper 20s, low 40s before our next system moves through.

[00:03:54]Glenwood, Las Cus deming dry today, cooler tomorrow and even cooler on Friday. Rudoso cloud crop to the eastern highlands and Clovis that backd dooror front will really push on through later tomorrow. Some east gap winds will be gusty, even cooler. Roswell Friday knocking out of the 50s. Tukum carry, Morta, Raton, Clayton, mild today, much cooler with some wintry weather potentially in Las Vegas come Friday.

[00:04:19]And from the enchanted circle, Espanola springing up in the upper 50s, 60s and 70s today, but 30s, 40s, and 50s come Friday. East gap winds booming in from Isiah a little bit tomorrow morning, but more so Friday morning from the north to south valley of Albuquerque. Enjoy the mild air today. Friday, look at that.
