New mural at the Atlantic Park in VBAdded:
There is a new splash of color at Atlantic Park in Virginia Beach. Today they unveiled a new mural. Tidelands Your Side's Patrick Driscoll shows us the new artwork.
2,500 miles. That's the distance it took to get Atlantic Park's newest addition on display.
Whether you're catching waves or just enjoying the views out at Atlantic Park, you might notice a new backdrop for the surf lagoon. It's a collaboration and um art and um community.
>> The mural called Disperson was unveiled today as a partnership between Town Bank and Atlantic Park.
>> Since the inception of this project, wanted Atlantic Park to feel like an extension of the ViBe Creative District and just feel like you're you're still within that ViBe. Bringing that ViBe over meant a few phone calls and just a bit of traveling. The one who designed it on the other side of the country in San Francisco.
>> When I heard this project was, you know, under under way, I sort of started to manifest my involvement somehow. I I just wanted to be connected to this place.
>> A connection that runs deep for Beecroft.
>> My family's from here and I'm from here, so it was kind of a natural fit.
>> Those ties allowing the Virginia Beach native to push through literal storms.
Despite having to work alone and even losing progress due to weather, he still finished the entire mural in just 6 days. My family's from here and I'm from here, so it was kind of a natural fit.
It was a grind, but it was it was a lot of fun. His efforts hoping to add to Virginia Beach's identity.
>> Artwork, local locally crafted details, we wanted that all to kind of culminate here.
>> And leave an impact for tourists and locals alike. As a kid, it was pretty crazy to think that something like this would even ever be in Virginia Beach, so having my own little uh part of it is was is kind of a dream come true.
Now, Beecroft and Atlantic Park plan on collaborating even more in the future.
In Virginia Beach, Patrick Driscoll, 10 On Your Side.
