Mwindo, a hero from Nyanga mythology in Congo, was born walking, laughing, and speaking while holding a royal scepter, but his father, Chief Shemwindo, ordered him killed based on a prophecy that his son would strip him of everything; despite being buried alive, sealed in a drum, and thrown into a river, Mwindo survived and eventually became one of Congo's greatest heroes, demonstrating that survival and heroism can emerge from the most traumatic beginnings.

Mwindo the forbidden Son from Nyanga.
Added:Did you know that one of the greatest heroes in all of African mythology was rejected by his own father before he even took his first breath? Not abandoned, not ignored, but his father just wanted to kill him. And the reason [music] why his father wanted to kill him would absolutely blow your mind. His name was Mwindo, born to the Nyanga people of the Congo. His father's name was Chief Shemwindo, >> [music] >> one of the most powerful men in the land and he had one rule, a rule he made all his wives swear to, that no sons because any male child born in this house would be killed immediately. Because a prophecy warned him that his own son would one day strip him of everything he owned. Then his six wives gave birth to six daughters, but the seventh, which was his favorite, was still pregnant.
And whatever was inside her was taking its time, but something crazy happened.
Mwindo didn't crawl into the world, he walked in, born laughing and born speaking.
>> [music] >> Holding a royal scepter in his tiny fist like he already knew who he was, but his father became furious because he didn't want a male child. And then he ordered him buried alive. But Mwindo walked out of the ground. He then had him sealed inside a drum and thrown into the deepest part of the river, but still Mwindo broke free and came back. Over and over, his father tried to get rid of him, but the boy refused to be erased.
Not because he was angry, not because he wanted revenge, just because he was alive and he wasn't going to apologize for it. And these are the part people skip over. They talk about his powers, his battles and his destiny, but nobody talks about the child that grew up with a father who was supposed to protect him spend every day wishing he didn't exist.
And that kind of wound doesn't heal with superpowers. Many years later he became one of the greatest heroes that Congo ever produced, wise, [music] unstoppable and loved by everyone around him, but it all started in the dark as a baby nobody wanted, surviving a father who couldn't see past his own fear.
