The Fowler's Toad (Anaxyrus fowleri) is a small amphibian native to the Eastern United States, typically measuring 2-3.5 inches in length, with brownish-gray coloration that can appear green or red. These nocturnal toads inhabit wooded areas, river valleys, and wetlands, feeding on insects, small vertebrates, and algae. They employ defensive strategies including camouflage, playing dead, and secreting toxic chemicals from their warts. Despite their small size, Fowler's Toads play crucial ecological roles as food sources for predators and natural pest control for farms. However, they face significant habitat destruction and are listed as endangered in New Jersey and a species of special concern.

We Love the Fowler's ToadAdded:
nature is really beautiful if you just take a step back to appreciate it you know get off the phone sometimes and go for a walk they have everything Humanity has ever needed but they are missing something at least in the state of New Jersey this funny little toad is endangered in the state but you're probably asking what is it and why don't we see it this is a Faller toad or the anaxus ferie is a very small toad so small that you could probably fit one in your pocket to kind of show you how small this toad is this is my bus pass bus pass is about 3.375 in the fish tow average between 2 and 3 and 1/2 in so it would look about this big in my hand here's another picture of the fer Toad on a man with very big fingers the fer toad is typically a brownish gray color but sometimes can appear green or red they also have a very weird call that kind of sounds like a scream you'll find these toads throughout most of the Eastern United States and in some parts that reach Westward these tiny toads are typically seen in wooded areas river valleys and near streams and ponds the father toad also appears in the wetlands to breed the toads are commonly found in human summer evenings and are nocturnal meaning they come out at night the fower Toad's diet includes insects smaller in vertebraes and Coraline algae a diet that I'm sure the toad loves as funny looking and small as these toads are it of course has its predators and animals that Feast on them the fer toad typically gets eaten by birds some snakes and small mammals the F toad is not helpless however they have a couple of tricks that they use to survive in the wild one of their defensive techniques is their skin their brown colors help them to camouflage with trees and dirt another trick that the ferto does is it tends to play dead to trick their predators ferto also secretes chemicals out of their warts that is both toxic and disgusting but now you're probably wondering why should we even care I think that the creatures of nature are all necessary in their own way so all things on earth deserve a fair chance to exist the father's toad should also get this right to live on earth they do so much good for the planet and for humankind the fowers toad act as an important food source for many animals and they also help to control the population of the animals that they eat they play a necessary role in many ecosystems they also act as pest control for many farms so they also benefit humans but even then we still destroy many of their habitats across the Eastern United States they are real endangered animals in New Jersey and they are listed as a species of special concern so [Music] [Music]
