How 1690 used Defense AGAIN to take down 254 | FRC Strategy AnalysisAdded:
Hello everybody and welcome back to another episode of Robbo Replay. So we're just going to be taking a look at more matches that happened at Worlds.
Some of the best teams in the world played and I'm just really interested in seeing all the different stuff that they did to try to take advantages and win matches and win blue banners at Worlds.
And so we're gonna be starting off with perhaps one of my favorite examples of defense in this game, apart from obviously the Einstein finals that we talked about. Um 3506 I think played a very very lovely game of defense. This one is specifically highlighting how important it is uh when you have a good defense robot and how much value they can get. So let's just get right into it. So this is the Hopper Division Finals 2. This one does end up going to three. Alliance 2 took the first one and then blue alliance 2056 6329 end up taking the next two. Lovely little five pass through the middle here. 1629 256 and then 3506 with a little follow auto so that you get as much fuel from the neutral zone as possible. And you can see that because of the fact that they have kind of just more scoring. Um they're able to more scoring from that follow auto and more value from uh the way that they pass. they're able to end up with an a lead in auto and then just coming into the transition period. Uh I think red does a red does a pretty good job here of kind of playing their game where they eat through a lot of what 6329 would want. 4143 does a great job getting over and stopping them and denying that transition zone fuel. Um, and I love that. This is what I love the most is that 1706 does I think one of the better strategies I've seen for uh losing auto is they go they collect in front of where the other alliance wants to collect. So, we're limiting them in transition by making them go collect less optimal fuel in the first place, right? And then they stay in the middle and they pass a lot of that fuel back to themselves for their own um own shift.
And you can see that they spent some of that time in the middle just collecting all the way because they have that net.
They're able to fill themselves up even further than their hopper would normally allow. And so they're able to fill up completely clear that neutral zone. And most of the fuel that's coming back into here at this point is only the stuff that 581 has scored. So now we see 581 again um deciding to go back to the middle of the field first because of the fact that they have basically nothing left in their corner in the first place.
And you'd rather have 1706 clean up like the the little piles here that are there with the shoot on the move turrets versus 581 trying to do that because it'll just end up being a mess for them because they'll have to go slam into it and then turn and collect and then shoot and it's just not really optimal for them to do it. So they decide to go clean up the middle of the field for whatever is going to get scored. And also you end up contesting 6329 who's passing 2056 who's passing. However, the issue with this is 3506 is now playing defense here. And 2056 is also does a great job here just getting in front of 581's way and kind of just being annoying and playing that half uh sort of half defense style where they're actively giving themselves value by kind of um like clearing out the middle of the field with passing in terms of offensive value, but they're getting defensive value by eating in front of where 581 would want to go. Block them off for a little bit while they're scoring. And you can see the 581 ends up bailing on the neutral zone um for their shift a little bit early and goes to go collect a steel because of the fact that um they ended up with too much fuel in their corner where now they just need to pass everything from the middle of the field. And on the other side here 4143 doing a pretty good job uh kind of emptying that zone. You can see it's forcing 2056 and 6329 to both go to the neutral zone every single time for these cycles. But the thing is that because 4143 is a little bit late here and kind of playing mainly passing versus mainly defense and also passing. Um it means that they're not able to punish this nearly as much and both 6329 and 2056 are kind of able to get around that defense and are able to put in everything that ends up being in their hopper in the first place. Now at this point this match doesn't look all that close um in terms of just raw fuel count. And this is uh after both have taken one shift. However, if we look at uh the way that matches normally play out, what normally ends up happening is Alliance 2 has a nice setup period. So, they're able to kind of um optimize this period and then going into endgame, they get to clean out the middle of the field as well and kind of starve the Alliance one. And so, there's a real big chance for a comeback here if Alliance 2 ends up being able to maximize this period.
However, we're just going to watch 3506 in the back corner here play up against 581 also in the top right here. And they just do such a good job not letting 581 get in at all. Um backing up just enough, getting uh their bumpers flat against 581. You could see 581 rotating and trying to get themselves here um able to shoot, but just isn't able to happen. And they eventually just end up getting trying to run themselves through uh the bump and the only reason they even get through in the first place, which when they get through it's after the shift has ended. So you've now essentially denied 581. what's likely would have been three hoppers, zero hoppers of fuel in the shift that they needed to push their advantage. And you can see now alliance one is up 30 when alliance 2 should have been up at this point because this is the one shift they have that is an advantage other than the endgame. And 3506 completely denies this by playing some very very nice defense.
kind of just getting in front of where 581 wants to go, letting 581 rotate inside of that trench zone while keeping themselves uh flat against their bumper corners, just not giving them any leverage. It's really, really nice. And then 581 goes over here to hit steels um as much as they can, try to stop 2056 from scoring. But at this point, it's a too late because of the fact that 2056 and 6329 just got so much value from um the defense here, meaning that 581 didn't go hit a steal, meaning that both of them were able to basically score in their own zone for free. And they just ran away with this match at that point.
And even though 1706 and 581 did do a nice job in the start of the fifth shift uh fifth shift of being able to clean that neutral zone, there's just not enough scoring here for them to be able to make up um the amount that was lost from 3506's very nice defense. So very effective example, a very good example of effective defense. kind of just showing you that when you're able to get your uh the opponents in a position that is not advantageous for them and you're able to kind of react to whichever way they want to go and if you're able to catch them through that, there's nothing they can do to get around you. And even the only way they end up going through is because 1706 ends up getting pulled and kind of ruins their um optimization for 581 being able to play the game in the first place. So, really, really nice stuff from the uh Alliance One here. They do end up winning this division and go on Einstein's. So, congrats to them for being able to pull that off. All right, next we're going to jump over to the Archimedes division finals because I think another all uh set of finals that probably got overlooked in the Chaos of Worlds, but these two alliances were absolutely stacked going into this event and they were still stacked coming out of it. and Bred and U 9470 ending up coming with the uh the ba blue banner over there over Symbotics and Rush who everyone kind of expected to win the division in the first place. So let's just see how they did it. All right, here we are. Arimedes divisional uh division finals f this is the finals two match. Uh this ends up going to three matches and 9470, 5940, 747 do end up taking it. But right now they need a match to stay in this division uh divisional playoffs in the first place, divisional finals in the first place.
And they do end up losing auto pretty badly just because of 1114 on the other side having a crazy amount of fuel uh to be collecting from in their hopper. So when they lose auto, how do you win the match? because some stat that ended up being said a lot in um Einstein's broadcast ended up being that well the alliance that ends up winning auto wins the game most of the time and I I think that while that is true I think that's more due to the fact that the better robots win auto and therefore win the game not because the auto itself is very very important and I think this alliance one shows you exactly how um to maximize the losing auto side of this game So immediately out of this um period they're down in auto, right? 93 to about 175. It's a very large deficit in auto.
And I think one of the first things they do really well is just limiting the transition shift fuel. So 1114 what they've basically been doing this entire divisional playoffs is they're going to win auto because they have such a big dumper. Then because they win auto because they have such a big dumper and they have a hopper capacity that no one else can match and Rush is also on their other side, right? These are two incredible robots. They basically just go get a big collect through the middle, come back to their side, dump all of that out, and now you're looking at 160 170 point deficit that you have to make up in the entire match, which is almost undoable because then they also have the next shift to set up and starve you while you are scrambling to look for fuel in the first place. They this chokeold strategy from 114 that was getting played by them worked really well for them throughout playoffs.
However, in this match, basically they just say 747, you are not going to let 1114 get as much fuel out as they would like. And um in terms of actual fuel scored, you can see 2 seconds, 1 second, and now 114 starting fire, but they kind of miss all of it. And now one of the biggest advantages of winning auto, the transition period, 10 seconds where you're able to get an entire hopper off.
And especially for this red alliance where they have a giant hopper and a pretty sizable hopper here as well. So, two hoppers that they'd love to have just in their hub easily getting them a bunch of value was completely denied because 747 played some really good defense and Rush wasn't able to get as much value because uh they were kind of stopped by 9470 and bred in the middle of the field where they ate fuel and position themselves to kind of deny that which is really nice from the blue alliance. And so at the end of transition, Alliance 2 only ends up getting 25 fuel out of this, whereas the other alliance ends up getting about 11ish. Um, so not a crazy number, but just the denial itself is so valuable because of what they're about to do at endgame here that'll win them this match. So 4096 plays a pretty good defense, and the defense of 4096 pushing 9470 up against the wall allows 27 to go and get a quick steal here, which is really nice. And then 1114 obviously because they are a bump only robot is going to be playing that neutral zone a lot more heavily because if they go for a steal they're not going to get out of that alliance zone. Uh 747 will just get pulled. Another thing here uh really nice stuff by uh 27 pushing 747 out of the way so they can't defend Symbotics as they come back. Um but because 9470 is just here they do end up slamming 1114 in the wall and they get a bunch of uh scoring anyways done. Now, the thing is that I really like from Alliance 2 is that they're kind of aware of the fact that 9470 is such a good stealer that they give up on this corn this pile of fuel in the corner. They kind of just say, "Okay, 747 sitting here. If let's say Rush, right, because they're probably the most agile of the two best robots on this red alliance. If Rush tries to get around 747 and go to this fuel pile, will they get there before 9470, who is in direct line over here and is just going to steal from the entire wall, will they get there first?
Probably not. So, what are we going to do instead? Well, we can't really get around 747 creating a blockade here in the first place because 947 is blocking this part of the tower. 747 could just move either which way to block us. So, let's just leave our uh neutral our alliance zone from the side and get full from the neutral zone instead so that we can actually get value. And you can see that 9470 is playing sort of this hybrid defense role because of the fact that they see that 27 is trying to get back a little bit earlier. So, they try to stop them and 747 on the other side is now blocking off 1114. And because 27 is so focused on getting fuel this time into the hub, they're not really defending 747 and they pull 4096 over to stop 747 from be able to play that defense. You can see in the bottom here, 747 now on top of that bump because they got pushed by 4096.
And then it allows Symbotics uh to end up getting the rest of that fuel or whatever was left from the neutral zone back over to their side uh into their hub. So nice work by Red Alliance kind of being aware of the limitations of 114 and working around them, creating strategies to allow them to be active.
But even through that, um, Blue Alliance is finding ways to optimize their pathing um, and their way of playing the game in the first place because they are keeping this alliance 2 to a relatively low score. Now, this is kind of where they make uh, this is kind of where alliance one ends up winning the match here. So, what'll end up happening here is Alliance 2 at this point is up 40 going into the endame. By all rights, they probably should be winning this match. However, Alliance One plays this match so incredibly well in terms of fuel control that they end up just not being able to do anything. So, Rush goes a little bit early here to deny fuel um by stealing from that corner. Really nice job by Rush um very effective there. and bread gets back over here to just dump whatever they have because what they're basically doing is they are going to clean the neutral zone and um on the other side 9470 is going to hit a steel. So Red's cleaning the neutral zone, 9470 is taking as much as they possibly can from that alliance 2 side and just going to go all the way back over so they can optimize their shift on the way back. And you can see that because of the fact that Brad spent that time in the neutral zone cleaning up now 1114 who we've already sol um talked about it right they can't go over and hit a steel because if they do 747 is going to get pulled 1114's never going to be able to get out of the other alliance zone in the first place because they'll just have 747 mark whichever way they want to go and it'll be a really big hassle probably lose them the match.
So 114 can't steal. The only people here who can steal are Rush. And because Rush is focused at this point on scoring the fuel that they just went and stole, it the timing works out perfectly for 9470 and bread to be able to just hit this incredible dump of fuel and then 9470 to just be in time to be able to block Rush off from getting another steel off.
And this I think wins them the match.
this like literally within a second, half a second of a timing of Rush um of the way the moment that Rush decided to go hit a steel which then led to Rush's scoring the fuel that they stole which led to now because Rush is on this side we can go get a little collect here and you can see 9470 getting against that wall blocking Rush from stealing allows 9470 to get another essentially full hopper of fuel and then they send 54 uh 5940 bread is back to the middle of the field to go do that cleanup so that you can kind of deny 1114 from doing as much as they'd like. And then again, because 747's playing defense on 1114, we're now forcing 4096 to play counter defense.
And you're losing essentially a robot of value to neutralize 7407 um from being able to do what they want.
And even still, um they're able to do their job at this point, which I think I don't think they're playing defense anymore. Like I think the defense is nice and all. Um, but at this point I think that they realize that with 13 seconds left, you can't play defense.
Just come back over and do as much as you can in terms of scoring. That's exactly what they do. And the collects here are so nice from Bred and 9470.
Like the pathing to get around here, not bumping into Symbotics, um, but kind of collecting where they'd want to go so Symbotics can't take a wider path around and get more fuel. and 9470 kind of staggering it instead and coming back the other way. Just being able to have all three ro blue robots firing at the very end here. And Symbotics because of the fact that they were getting starved out in that neutral zone and because 9470 was doing those steals the entire match and because 747 was sitting on their side passing back that fuel are unable to have any fuel in the last moments of this game. um or like have enough fuel to where they'll be shooting through the last moments of the match.
And Alliance One ends up coming back at the very end here with uh a a very large dump of fuel into the hub and kind of showing you that if you're able to maximize that endame period, which Alliance One did, they ended up scoring 297 of this 533 fuel ended up being scored in the endgame period alone. If you're able to do that and you're able to have the right timings on denying steals and playing around that sort of stuff in the endame period, then you can absolutely win matches after being down a ridiculous amount of fuel in auto. I mean, you were down like 84 fuel in auto and with the transition uh buffer as well, you ended up being down 90 or I think it was 90 something fuel. So, even with a 90 fuel deficit, because they play the endgame period so well and they're able to recognize how to play that shift, um they're able to make it back in this match. I love the little um thing at the very end of pulling 7407 to do scoring because they realize that there's no reason playing defense anymore at the last like 10 seconds of the match because there's no way that they're going to end be being able to end up going back to the middle, collecting, and scoring all within that 10-second period. So, really nice stuff from this alliance one. They do end up winning this division. Um, and this match was to tie it one to one, but they end up winning their division. So, congrats to them on winning a very, very hard division. I think like these these top four robots, it could have gone any which way in terms of who would end up winning this division. And the fact that it's 9470 and 5940 to do it, very impressive to me.
Now, let's take a look at I think an alliance that maybe got overlooked um just because of the kind of architecture of the crew. At least they got overlooked by me because I thought that uh the dumper archetype was so much better than the just double shooter archetype. But Orbit and the crew proved me wrong completely. Could have very easily gotten to the finals. And we're going to be taking a look at two matches and seeing what happened with them and how they ended up making it to third on Einstein's in the first place. Let's take a look. All right, guys. Here we are. Lower bracket round four, match 12.
Galileo division versus Cury division.
This is the Einstein field. Basically playing for fourth place versus who ends up being able to move on and contest for third or finalist or obviously win the entire thing. Um, on one side we have basically triple dumper archetype. On the other side we have a shoot on the move turret, a double stream shooter, not a dumper, and then 5181 playing some very nice defense. So, two completely different ideologies. One, the Cury Alliance being a very um offenseheavy, very much uh subscribing to the belief that we win through scoring more than you versus Galileo playing the if we deny enough then you're not be able to score anything and we'll just end up winning the match that way. So, two very different ideologies, but end up seeing how they clash together. Um, interesting thing here is Barker's kind of positioning here, 8613, is that they collect fuel and they don't actually score it, but they pass it in front of themselves so that 254 gets a nice pathing into them and they can be the ones to score it. So even though they're not actively scoring, they are giving value to their alliance by one blocking off people from the middle of the field um when they come back to this neutral zone in the end of this transition period like right here. Right? So you can see orbit stops a little bit early.
And Orbit's pathing if 8613 wasn't here would probably be we're going to do a little loop here. 76 7769's pathing if 8613 wasn't here would probably be we'll do a loop here. And now because we already win auto if we just look at the auto scores they uh Galo ends up winning auto and maximizing transition period is very important after winning auto. It will just allow them to get away for free. However, because of the fact that 6800 uh sorry, 8613 is sitting in the middle there, they're able to kind of contest this a giant pile of fuel, and you could see that even though orbit makes off like a bandit with all of this fuel on that side. 7769 doesn't get nearly as much as they'd probably like to and they end up with about three seconds left of the transition period where they're not actively scoring even though they do end up getting like a a singular fuel extra from their side, right? But Barker being in that middle position ended up denying the crew from being able to get where they wanted to go and push their advantage as much as they'd probably like to in that transition period. So, just going into the next part of this match with triple dumper, the interesting thing to look at is kind of seeing, well, how are you going to play triple offense? Because obviously, if you're not playing anyone in the middle of the field, then 1690, one of the best cleanup robots in the world, I'd probably say on par with 2056 as the best uh cleanup robot for the middle of the field in terms of driving skill alone.
um well, if you just let them clean up that neutral zone, then you'll have no fuel to score in the first place. So, how are you going to play this? And what they end up doing is they play this kind sort of staggered um triple offense where when one robot is inside, there's at least another robot that is actively going to go collect and pick up from the fuel that will get recycled from there.
And so in this case, Barker ends up getting caught up. But Barker should probably be um if they're not getting defended by Orbit, who's also passing at the same time, inside of their zone scoring. And 254 is the one that'll end up collecting, coming over to their side, and then Valor will end up jumping over, collecting the field they scored, and kind of doing this cycle, which is really nice from the Cury Alliance.
However, because Galileo was so good with that defense, 5181 doing a really nice job kind of limiting this Cury Alliance, it ends up uh you could see here, right? Or playing defense in the corner here. 5181 playing defense in the corner here. They 10 seconds left in the shift, they completely mess up everything that this cur alliance wants to do in terms of rotations and going through that sort of cycling nature by just being in the way. And it kind of makes this entire shift at the at the end of this fall apart because now Valer's looking at this like, well, because Orbit cleaned out the entire middle of the field, there's now nothing left for us to score and we have nothing in our hopper. So instead of scoring for the last 7 seconds, we'll just go steal.
Barker kind of being like, well, we can at least try to get something out of this. and 254 who has a full hopper and with 5 seconds left very much wants to get back to their side to score um ends up trying to get around 5181 but the defense is too strong end up buying too much time and they end up passing all the back and Barker on the bottom here thinks that they can make it back in the uh in the time but because they uh end up rotating themselves the wrong way try to score no time left on the clock they end up essentially denying three robots from scoring for almost half of an entire shift um by playing that orbit sort of passer defense. Sorry, passing while also playing defense on the neutral zone side and 5181 playing actual hard defense on 254 and Valor which everyone is was coming back over.
So really nice stuff from them overall.
And then Valer steel is pretty effective. 254 as well stealing pretty effective. But I love this from the crew. The aware their awareness to go back to the middle of the field is very very good. Um whenever you I mean whenever you watch this Galileo alliance in general um if they see a steel happen they are always ready to um go back to the neutral zone and collect fuel from there instead of having to deal with the well we're starved. Let's we're going to have to just push through that issue sunk cost fallacy of we've already pass it to ourselves so let's use it at least. Um they end up deciding to go back to the neutral zone a lot which I really love. And then also the fact that they play shoot from here a lot of the time ends up meaning that they block steals a bunch of the time because when most robots go to steel it'll be through the other alliance's trench because they don't like going the bump because it's a little bit risky, right? You might land on fuel or something. Um so they're both blocking off steels and they're also making it so they have easy access to whichever decision they'd like to go to next depending on playing reactively which is really nice from that um the crew alliance. And obviously Orbit is doing a very nice job just shooting on the move. And again, um, something I like to note and that I love when alliances do is go leave a little bit early when you realize that your zone is empty and you have nothing in your hopper and orbit goes all the way to the other side in this corner here and just goes to hit a steel because they realize that the scoring that they do on their side of like maybe 10 fuel is not worth the collection and denial from Valor of about what ends up being like 30ish.
Yeah, 30ish 40-ish fuel on that side here. Maybe I'm overestimating it a little bit, but you are denying those like about 20 to 30 points directly from Valor by hitting a steel there instead of just pushing the whatever 10 fuel that would you would been scattered and you would have scored because obviously when I'm obviously there's a lot of fuel in this corner here that crew could have scored but orbit on the bottom side here would not have be able to get to that as fast and be able to score it in the uh required time for the points to actually count. So, really nice decision-making from Orbit going to hit a steel there.
And of course, talk about Orbit's uh driving around. Valor tries to do a little hairpin turret here to get back into their zone. Orbit cuts right under them, steals all that fuel. And you can see Valor's hopper is not nearly as full as they'd like to be when they're coming back. And the fuel denial, I think, from this turreted alliance, a turret and dumper alliance is just so well played.
And it's kind of one of the reasons why they match up so well against this Cury Alliance is you win auto, so you deny the Cury Alliance's triple dumper. Um, three robots firing all at once in 10 seconds where they're undefended essentially. Um, and they're able to push their advantage there. You deny that by just winning auto in the first place, and you deny them from being able to play their shifts at all because you just clean out that neutral zone so well. Um, it's a very nice matchup for this Galo Alliance, but even still, Cury does a really nice job staying in this game in the first place. I think 254 hitting a steal here is the only thing that keeps him in this match. Really nice work. Valor as well going back to the middle of uh the other side to hit a steel again. But you can see Orbit and the crew are ready for this and they have protocols in place to what they're going to do after. And you can see that they both just go to the middle of the field when they realize steals are happening because they're like, "Okay, well, you'll steal from outside, but you're not going to be able to get any more fuel when you go back to the middle of the field after you score it because we'll just empty the neutral zone anyways." Really nice decision-m from this Galileo alliance um on just being able to understand how to play um when people are actively stealing from you.
Now, this is a really nice decision from Balor playing some defense here. And you can see they end up pulling Barker a little bit to block Orbit here, but they basically just deny Orbit by playing sort of on this line here where they're just angled enough to where Orbit can't just shove past them because obviously they're trench robot, right? Um, if Orbit's able to get if if Valor was playing this in like even a little bit more angled upwards where their bumpers were like here and Orbit was here, Orbit could just gone past them and they'd be gone. But because Valer is playing this line in sort of in this angle, they're able to use this back wall to be a blocker for um Orbit on this side. So Orbit can't rotate out this way and force Orbit to either decide to back up the entire way, try to push through them or back up and then try to rotate around them at which point Valor can go catch them the other way. Really nice defense from Valor here, realizing that denying Orbit is probably more important than just getting back to your side at this point because there's seven sec seconds left in their off shift. If you're able to stop Orbit at all in place of defense, it's really nice. And Orbit able to get around, but because they get caught on that hub, they get slowed down even more. And Valor able to get uh back to their side. However, this is really big here, right? We talked about the Cury Alliance not wanting three robots in their zone at once. And this is I think perhaps maybe it loses them the match. Maybe something else loses them the match as well. But I think that Valer choosing to be here instead of going back to their zone, which obviously you could make the argument that if they went back to their zone, then there would have been issues there of three robots on one side, 5181 gets really easy defense on everybody, right?
Obviously there's an argument for that.
However, Valor being here and 254 being here because uh 254 doesn't want to get defended kind of leaves two giant lanes open for orbit and the crew. And you can see the crew already took this timing.
Um so we'll go back actually just a sec and see exactly how this timing happened on the top side here for the crew to go hit a steel. Um, but you can see this, right? 5181 is just playing defense. And because 51 to81 kind of zoned 254 off of their side, 254 ends up being like, "Okay, we want to actually shoot our fuel into the hub. Let's go get up against the tower on the side so that 5181 can't play defense on us, right?"
Which is obviously normal. Um, very normal reaction to have. However, the crew takes this timing um and sees this opportunity of 5181 is actively blocking 254 from contesting anything over here.
If 254 wants to get over here, they would have to either get around 5181, which throughout this entire match has not really been happening, especially in as much of a cramped zone as this is, which and you'd have to hit a rotate, which is incredibly hard to do. Um, so 7769 just goes through, sees this opportunity, takes a timing of there's nothing in the neutral zone anyways. I'm just going to go hit a giant steel here.
And by the time 254 realizes what's happening, they end up where they uh just lose all this fuel because they've they're already scoring all that fuel. If they were in this corner, maybe they're able to jump off and they're able to block 7769 a little bit and go through. But because 5181 plays that defense like this, it gives 7769 a lane to sort of uh play defense on. And you can see the exact same thing happens on the bottom side here as well where Barker is now over here and 5181 is now sitting like this. So it gives Orbit now a lane to play off of where they play enough defense on Valor and actually we'll go back and watch that one interaction again. Look at um Valor as they come in and they see that Orbit's coming to go steal um right because they they completely gun to go catch them in that corner, but because 5181 is here, they're able to play a defensive role on Valor, able to jump off of Barker just in time to clip uh Valor with their intake and part of their bumper so that they slow them down enough to where Orbit's now able to actually get just past Valor. Like that is a within a.3 second timing they are able to just get past Valor, get all the way through there and able to get away with a complete steal on that side. um able to just completely run through there and especially when Valor did a really nice job and this Cury Alliance as a whole really did a really nice job cleaning the neutral zone in that fifth shift being able to get these two steals and keep themselves active as the recycled fuel goes back and every the neutral zone kind of ends up being full again in the endame period. It's really important because now orbit isn't spending time in the neutral zone collecting all this fuel while 254 is able to contest them for free. Orbit's now able to collect in the neutral zone as they're going back and everything extra is just a gift. And it's just really really well done um from this Galo alliance at 5181 specifically creating these lanes for 6090 and 7769 to hit steels on. It's just very very well done. And even still, you kind of see the power of the triple dumper at the end here.
um kind of just dumping everything into the hub, showing you what that throughput is is really capable of. And honestly, I think that this match probably should have been even closer in terms of final score. It it should have been within like maybe like six points just because I think they missed a tech um a tower penalty call here on uh 5181.
You can see they kind of um like just watch 5181 here. They hit Valor as Valor is actively contacting the tower and I I it never actually ends up getting called. But at the end of the match, even if they had 20 penalty points here, the only difference would be that this ends up being a a 714 versus 720, it still does end up being a Galileo win, but it is still it might have been really a lot closer with that tower call at the end there. But kind of showing you, I think, what the value of defense is because if 5181 doesn't create those two lanes for Orbit or 7769, or if 5181 doesn't play defense on 254 in those first two shifts and completely deny um 254 from be able to score two separate hoppers worth at least of fuel, I think this match is completely lost. But because they're able to do that, they're able to take down this triple dumper off its alliance on Cury doing a really really nice job. Um, and go ended up going to play Jack in the Bot in the lower finals where they do end up losing, but end up getting third place. So really, very, very impressive stuff from the Galileo Alliance, 5181 in particular. But I mean, even through the defense, Cur's throughput is so impressive that they're able to not only win in terms of teley fuel, but they were able to um get it this close within what I think is probably six fuel worth of difference. Um, which is just very impressive to me. And I think that this kind of shows you where if if auto was maybe a little bit closer. Um, and I think that this kind of goes uh for the all Einstein alliances where if Otto was a little bit closer, maybe it was a winnable match. Um, and maybe you might have ended up winning because a lot of the time the losers of auto did end up winning in telly, but the gap in auto was just so large. And I say so large, right? This is 17 points, but when it's this close, the gap in auto was too large to come uh overcome in Teleop itself. So really, really impressive stuff um by both alliances here.
honestly every alliance at Einstein's and yeah, it's very very well played.
So, that is all for this video. I will be taking a look at more matches. Um, if you guys had worlds matches that you'd like me to cover, please put them in the comments below. I do want World's matches to cover. Um, because I do have some in mind that I will be taking a look at. Um, there are a lot of Einstein alliances that we didn't get to cover, right? I'm sure that there are interesting matches that happened on why they got to win their division in the first place. Um, so just let me know any matches that you thought you saw exceptional strategy or anything like that. Um, and just yeah, thank you guys so much for watching. Uh, I know the season's over. Um, but this has been such a fun worlds to cover just in terms of how much fun this game has been in terms of strategy. Um, obviously a bummer that breakages ended up happening a lot of the times and we didn't get to see every robot perform at their fullest, but very very fun match. uh event overall uh at worlds. So yeah, thank you guys for watching and have a lovely day.
