I Sampled A Viral Tiktok Into A Beat

[00:00:03]10 minutes ago I was still thinking of a video idea of what video I should record now. And I was just on TikTok and I came across this German guy who was singing going crazy on the guitar, man. I'm I'mma show y'all the clip.

[00:00:21]Um so yeah, I figured I'd just sample that and turn it into a beat since y'all really like the 9 Vicious sample tutorial that I did like a few weeks back. That video got demonetized as I tried uploading it, but doing it for the love of the game, man. So I'mma try sample, bro, and uh let's get it, man.

[00:00:41]Oh, before we get into today's video, real quick, for the past week I've been working on my website nonstop and I fully reworked and updated dirkey.shop, first link down in the description. For like a year and a half I probably had the worst producer website on Earth, but it had to change one day. So I fully reworked the website, so figured I'd just let y'all know real quick, man.

[00:01:04]I speak German for the ones who don't know. Like I understand my my my fellow Germans, but I can understand how this can sound funny as hell to to like the Americans and [ __ ] And this right here doesn't really line up and if I would just loop it right here it would have like a little pause.

[00:01:22]All right, so the trick that you can do just chop it right here, make this unique.

[00:01:26]Go to stretch.

[00:01:28]Move this down and just stretch it to fit to the to the end of the eighth bar.

[00:01:32]And you can even crossfade this a little bit to get rid of the click.

[00:01:38]Sounds a bit better, right? So we got two sections of four bars each. We're working at 93 BPM, so that means that if we would double time the BPM, right, we would have two sections of eight bars. I might change the pitch and the tempo eventually. So for now I'm just render this out. Next what I'mma do is try the uh the extract stems from sample. Let's select everything. See what it does.

[00:02:01]I'll just keep the vocal for now. Now let's try to repitch the sample just to kind of step away from the original, right? Let's find the scale first.

[00:02:11]Sounds like C sharp minor. And for the ones who don't know, every minor scale has a major scale equivalent which uses the same note as the minor scale. So just look up C sharp minor major relative.

[00:02:21]Should be E major. So I kind of wanted to get rid of the guitar as soon as possible to kind of forget the root notes that they were using in the song.

[00:02:27]That way it should be easier for me to come up with my own chords instead of kind of getting stuck with the original and it kind of sounding off to me, right? We're working in E flat major.

[00:02:35]We'll just try to find some new root notes, some new chords, just experiment with different voicings and all that stuff, man. I had this little idea right here to start on the on the root note in the minor scale, C minor.

[00:02:47]And maybe go up.

[00:02:54]Just need the the root notes for now. So let's go with C down to G sharp. Kind of want to get a foundation for the melody down first before we process the vocal since we kind of need some context to be able to process the vocal, right? Like there's a million ways on how you can process vocals, but that's why I like to have some context first. I might just rerecord the chords that we have right now right here, the C minor chord and the G sharp major chord.

[00:03:45]All right, so I wrapped up the guitar chords. That's what I ended up with.

[00:03:58]Hear me out, but hear me out. I think I'mma just lay down one more top line on top of this uh uh progression. Yeah.

[00:04:14]So I got a quantizer, but All right, let's quantize this a bit.

[00:04:34]All right, so I already like the tone of the guitar. I'm just add some delay and reverb to it and maybe some compression and EQs. I did a full breakdown, little masterclass of how I process my electric guitars and how I record them. I'mma pop it up in one of the corners if you're interested in that, man.

[00:05:09]Add a bit of crunch to the to the counter melody. So now that we have context, we can mix the vocal, man.

[00:05:30]Uh add some delay and reverb on the vocal.

[00:05:36]Let's actually export the delay like this. So put the mix to 100% into delay.

[00:05:41]So now we only have the delay right here. So if we turn off the delay on the vocal, it should match up.

[00:05:50]So now let's mix some chops in the in the delay that we exported. Should sound crazy. Hold on.

[00:06:23]Get the chord down in the piano. I'mma change the sound later.

[00:06:50]Add a lot of reverb on this. I think for now that's pretty much all we need to get started on the drums, man. So I might add some more sounds, but think I'm just keep it like this.
