During regional conflicts, armed groups may attempt to disrupt transportation and communication infrastructure to prevent elections or political activities, but the actual implementation of such disruptions often depends on the scale of the conflict and the resources available to both parties. In this case, while the Fano Amhara National Movement announced a 5-day vehicle movement ban in the Amhara region to disrupt national elections, reports indicated that most major roads remained open, though some mobile phone services experienced intermittent disruptions.

Roads in Amhara Region Blocked or Not? | Mobile Phone Services Partially DisruptedAdded:
Are roads closed in the Mahara region?
Any disruption regarding traffic along the roads?
Because uh Faro had announced to implement a ban on the movement of vehicles, complete travel ban starting from today. What is the situation on the ground? Secondly, any mobile phone service disruption happening in Ethiopia.
Any signs of mobile phone service disruption happening in any part of Ethiopia.
I have received some pieces of information for you which I want to share with you. Welcome to the channel.
Thank you for watching. Good to be with you. Always good to be with you. By the way, you know, let me just give a little background. You know that uh Faro Amhara Faro National Movement announced 5day ban on the movement of vehicles in entire Amhara region. The ban was announced to disrupt the election, national election which is due to be held on Monday in Ethiopia.
The armed group in Amhara Faro has been saying for weeks that it won't allow holding of election in the Mahara region.
government government uh forces prosperity party they have been saying that uh election will be held in only eight districts of the Mahar region election has been postponed in the rest of the districts of the Mahar region election is scheduled to be held on Monday so this is the background now what has happened so far the ban ban on travel announced by Afano was due to come into force at 12:00 a.m. last night, the night between Thursday and Friday.
Uh well firstly government media Amhara regional state media is claiming that uh citizens are ready to vote.
There is no disruption of any sort to traffic.
Traffic uh flowing as usual along the roads in the Amhara region. Amhara state media has shared pictures from Bahar, from Deborra, from Wolo, from Gujam, from Shawa. State media claims that uh there is no change everything happening the way it happens in the region there is no disruption of any sort any type.
Uh pictures which have been released uh show open roads but obviously it's not difficult to capture a picture an image from a road. It's not difficult.
What is Faro's position?
Well, I am seeing uh so far no one joint statement by AFNM about the overall situation in the Amahar region regarding closure of roads.
I told you about closure of Adama to Matihara Vanchetti road in a video a few hours ago. That is what I confirmed.
Was that road closed by Faru or Ola? I don't know. But that road was closed today. But apart from the closure of that road, I could not confirm. So far I could not confirm closure of major roads in the Mahara region. So far so far I'm recording this video at around uh 4 p.m. Ethiopian local time.
Uh so at 4:00 p.m. Ethiopian local time.
I could not confirm large scale large scale I'm repeating large scale closure of main roads in the Mahara region. So can we say far groups have failed? Can we say far group don't want to implement the ban or they failed to implement the ban? Well, I don't want to give the final verdict. It's a 5-day ban. It's starting today but uh hopefully in tonight's live chat after a few hours I'll share detailed report from the Amhara region about the situation of roads.
Closure of roads means closure of main arteries not roads in villages which can be closed by a few farop fighters. If main roads remain open, if uh uh ma to uh baharos to bahar, bahar to grea to dassi, dassi to debrahan to addis. If all these main roles remain open, it means that fo faro either failed or they did not implement the ban. But let's wait. I think we should give more time before we uh give final analysis about closure.
I'm sharing the situation with you, situation report with you. At uh uh 4:00 p.m. 400 p.m. local time in Ethiopia, most of the roads in the Amhara region are open now. But I am seeing reports of uh disruption in mobile phone service.
Uh that is what I have confirmed by the way. Uh disruption is not total communication blackout. It seems disruption is starting. Suspension of mobile phone service is starting in some areas.
Limited suspension. What type of suspension is internet being cut off? Is call service being suspended?
Can we call it communication blackout?
By the way, if things escalate, if it is managed to block main roads, if Ola joins in, mobile phone service will definitely be suspended. That will happen. So far, this type of disruption uh could not be implemented by Faro and Ola.
They blocked one main road by either Faro or I told you about that. But they have not been able to block all main roads in Amhara Romia so far. But what I have learned is that uh voice calls uh get cut off in the middle of a call.
So people have to redial. That's what is being confirmed to me. Several people confirm that. They say saji we have to redial again and again. It show there is some type of disruption which seems to be true by the way.
Secondly, no service report.
Uh some customers are seeing when they want to gain access to mobile internet and they say for a few minutes or for an hour there's no service uh appears and after a few minutes after an hour the service is accept accessible internet is accessible in some parts of Ethiopia. IA in some parts of Aroia in some parts of Amhara in some parts of southern Ethiopia this is what is happening. So mobile phone service disruption slight disruption I would say slight little uh minor suspension of mobile phone service is being confirmed.
Maybe government people are testing their equipment and uh they could implement full suspension of networks, mobile phone networks in case of escalation of tensions, in case of closure of main roads, in in case of attacks by far or ola if attacks intensify. So this is the overall situation in Ethiopia. I am monitoring everything through people through sources. If you want to share anything with me, I am accessible. My email is s aj67200gmail.com.
Let's ensure that we keep the people updated about these uh 48 hours leading up to the election on Monday. Thank you for watching.
