🐢 What goes on under that shell?

[00:00:00]Eastern box turtle. Both of these are Eastern box turtle shells. Did I mention they're both Eastern box turtles? Yeah.

[00:00:05]And the one of course still has the laminae on the shell. The other one that outer laminae that covering has actually fallen off. And so this one is probably just a bit older. But this one I also preserved. And then turn it around so we can see the inside of those beautiful shells.

[00:00:21]>> when you look at the inside of the shell you can actually see the turtle's vertebrae in there. They're fused to the shell. It's all it's all kind of one one thing. And so it's bone material you're looking at on the underside of that.
