High pressure systems create warm, stable weather conditions by suppressing cloud formation and precipitation, leading to clear skies and elevated temperatures. In this forecast, a strengthening high pressure ridge over the western United States will maintain warm temperatures through the weekend, with highs in the 60s-90s across different regions, and temperatures expected to peak on Monday and Tuesday with record-tying highs in northern Utah and triple-digit temperatures in southern Utah.

Evening weather forecast, May 8, 2026Hinzugefügt:
All right, Kevin. I would I would classify this weekend as mom weather.
>> Oh, it is so mom weather. Perfect weather temperatures are climbing across the state with lots of sunshine. Let's go and show you how this evening finished off. We had lots of sunshine during the day, but a little band of clouds came rolling in just as the sun was dropping making for a really pretty evening. Comfortable temperatures and what a way to kick off a great weekend.
Let's take a look at some of the conditions around the state. On Saturday we'll be in the 60s in both the northern and southern mountains with 80s in Moab as well as Lake Powell, 90s at Zion and St. George. I've got partly cloudy skies around Moab and over towards Lake Powell, there's a weak little disturbance that's coming in and it's going to increase some of the cloud cover there. Less clouds on Sunday although very similar temperatures across the region and it really gets hot the day after as we head through Monday and Tuesday, but what a great weekend coming up. High temperature today, Salt Lake hit 79, but look at Las Vegas, 100, 101 in Phoenix. 60 still for Cody, Cheyenne, and Denver, but those 70s went all the way north up to Great Falls. A big ridge of high pressure will be building and strengthening over the western states and that's going to keep things extra extra warm. 68 in Salt Lake right now with Provo at 62, Fillmore and Cedar City both holding at 64° with low 80s in St. George and still 90 in Las Vegas. Across the west, well, pretty quiet. Again, that monster high pressure, we've got one that's sitting right off the coast, another little bubble up that's kind of bubbling just over parts of southern Arizona. What will happen is this little guy, there's a low to the north, there's a little weak disturbance. That's going to brush through northern Utah tonight and end in central southern Utah tomorrow. We'll notice a couple of degrees drop in temperature, but there will be some more cloud cover as I mentioned over southeastern Utah tomorrow, even a chance for a little stray mountain pop-up over the four corners, pretty benign, but there. And then we warm.
Sunday we get warmer. Monday we get warmer. It'll be a sunny to mostly sunny couple of days and temperatures start to peak on Monday and Tuesday with record tying temperatures here in northern Utah and triple digits for the first time this year in southern Utah. Tomorrow, not of the real hot stuff, but oh, pretty comfortable. 79 in Delta, 77 in Price, 80 in Richfield, St. George, 96, Mesquite, 100, Moab, 87. Mostly sunny for the southwest, partly cloudy for the southeast and the 7-day forecast red numbers mean more than 10 above and oh, there's a stretch of those. Mid to upper 90s through Mother's Day and then 100° Tuesday. First of the season for St. George, but likely the first of many to come this summer. Here's northern Utah, lots of sunshine with 74 in Logan, 75 West Valley. Today we were at 79, tomorrow 76. That's compliments of that little weak front coming by, so we'll drop a couple of degrees, but oh, don't worry. It'll be warming up. 80s turn to 90s. Record tying on Monday, Tuesday, then low 80s as we head through the week, so Mom, I guess if you like that Deanie, that's a pretty good recipe.
>> That is a good recipe. We'll take it.
All right, Kevin, thank you.
