When a storm system moves out, weather conditions typically improve, with rainfall decreasing and severe weather risks diminishing; however, isolated showers or thunderstorms may still develop due to heat and moisture, requiring continued monitoring and preparedness.

Storms moving out (Local Weather Update 6/19/26)
Added:[music] >> 6:38 checking in with Ainsley. Ainsley, we have had a bunch of rainfall fall over the last 12 to 15 hours. We might see some ponding and flooding on the roadways and unless people's car is like the Noah's Ark trim, they do not need to try and be driving through that.
>> No, I mean when you encounter these puddles, you just can't tell how deep they are and that's where we really run into complications. So there definitely will be a lot of water on the roadways in low-lying areas and things like that as we go throughout the rest of today because we got a lot of rainfall yesterday and not only rainfall, we also had a lot of strong to severe weather as well. So this morning, it's a bit of a quieter scene for most of the area.
Perry right now just dealing with some cloud cover, but otherwise it is dry.
And when we look big picture, you can see that this system that has been impacting us for so long, several rounds of rainfall and several rounds of severe weather, is officially on its way out the door. This is the last kind of band, if you will. This is the remnants of what was Tropical Storm Arthur. So we kind of got rounds of this in bands and this is the last one that we have to deal with through the rest of the morning before we are quieter for the rest of today. So let's look at where things stand on our specific satellite and radar. You can see our northern counties nice and dry. So the rainfall has passed these areas and they're going to stay mostly dry aside from maybe just a little stray shower or two here and there for the rest of the morning. Down in our southern counties is where the bulk of the activity is still going on.
If you're south of I-16, you're likely still hearing thunder, seeing lightning, and experiencing some heavy rainfall in certain pockets. You can see a pretty heavy shower with some strong lightning all the way from Dodge County into Bleckley County and the most notable area of rainfall and really a strong thunderstorm, it's here all the way from Montgomery down into kind of the edge of Wilcox County. It actually spurred a severe thunderstorm warning outside of our area. So this is definitely still an impactful thunderstorm. The last one we have to deal with though, after this moves out, the rest of the day is looking a whole lot better. We talked about rainfall, we had a lot of heavy rainfall over the last couple of days.
We're still on the lookout for isolated flash flooding while this last little band sits with us, but as we head into tomorrow morning, we should be able to drop the flood watch and stay quieter in terms of weather alerts for the weekend.
Here's a look at the last 24 hours in terms of rainfall totals. A heavy concentration on higher totals, kind of once you get closer to I-16 and south of I-16. Our northern counties got anywhere from half an inch all the way up to 3 inches. Our southern county saw somewhere between 4 to 5 inches in most places. So, a lot of heavy rain. By the mid-morning this morning, or I should say the late morning, we'll start to see this system move out and it should be drier for the day aside from a very small rain chance and a high temperature today will sit somewhere in the upper 80s with a heat index that makes things feel more like the upper 90s. Now, with this small rain chance in the afternoon, we do have a level one of five risk. I want to show you it because it's there.
I don't think that we're going to see severe weather for the rest of today. We really don't have the possibility of seeing many showers, but this is there, so I wanted to show you if a storm fires up today, it could tap into some fuel and become strong to severe, but it's looking pretty unlikely for our area.
Like I said, this system will move out by the time we get to the late morning, but what pops up in the afternoon, you'll notice maybe one or two isolated cells. For the most part though, we should stay pretty uninterrupted for the rest of the day and then we climb into the weekend where we return to the summertime pattern. On Saturday, you'll wake up to some clouds, but mostly dry weather and then by the afternoon, you just got to be on the lookout for maybe a pop-up shower or thunderstorm that tries to fire up with the heat of the day. Then of course, Sunday is Father's Day. Same situation, a dry morning as we head into the afternoon, you got to be prepared for the possibility of a pop-up shower or a thunderstorm. It's all dodgeable. It's not going to be a washout either day. You just kind of have to be prepared for the possibility of maybe catching a stray shower or two through both Saturday and Sunday and that possibility continues as we head into the upcoming work week. Rain chances Monday through Thursday with high temperatures in the upper 80s and the low 90s.
