Weather forecasting involves analyzing precipitation patterns, moisture movement, and temperature trends to predict conditions. In this forecast, rain continues through Sunday morning but dries out by Tuesday, with temperatures warming from the 50s-60s to the 70s-80s. Forecasters use radar and computer models to track precipitation movement and predict temperature changes, helping communities prepare for weather-related activities.

FORECAST: Rain continues tomorrow morning, drying out and warming up TuesdayAdded:
6 43 right now on your Sunday evening as our first alert weather day coverage continues. Although the good news is the bulk of today's heavy rain has moved out of Connecticut. Now the state's only live radar still showing a few isolated to scattered showers especially along the shoreline right now. Perhaps some patchy drizzle as you head up toward north central Connecticut as well. But no real heavy rain on our radar at the moment. We'll remain that way overnight tonight. Then heading into the first part of your Memorial Day, some of that steady shower activity returns. Keep in mind, it is much needed rain. You know, most of the state is abnormally dry. We have parts of the state that are even in an uh moderate drought status. And the vast majority of Connecticut got today between half an inch and an inch of rainfall. Some parts of the shoreline even got more than that, up to an inch and a half of rain. And again, there is more on the way heading into tomorrow.
So, your Memorial Day forecast is wet at least for the first half of the day through about lunchtime. Temperatures will be in the 50s and low 60s. We'll see rounds of shower activity, but then in the afternoon, we dry things out. And heading toward the evening, we even see a few breaks of cloud cover, some peaks of sunshine. That will allow temperatures to climb into the low 70s for most of us. So, we'll be turning a bit milder. Regardless, tomorrow, we'll remain in First Alert Weather Day mode, at least for the first half of the day.
We know there's lots of Memorial Day activities going on outside and we want to give you the first alert that that rain will impact those activities at times. Also, some locally dense fog could impact uh some travel in the morning as well. So, First Alert futurecast is showing visibility down below a mile in plenty of locations across Connecticut. This is about 8:00 Monday morning. The time stamp there in the upper right hand corner of your screen. Gradually, this will improve as the rain moves out in the afternoon. But uh the first solar futurecast is showing the rain sticking around at least through about midday. Here's 5:00 a.m.
The steady rain begins to move in by about 8 a.m. first in western parts of Connecticut, then gradually overspreading the state by about 11, but then by 2:00 or so, we're drying out.
The bulk of the moisture has moved off to our east and we'll start to see some clearing gradually. Here's about 4:00.
There you go. seeing some peaks of blue sky in there and we'll be able to salvage the second half of your Memorial Day if you have any evening grilling plans. You should be good to go tomorrow. In fact, skies are mostly clear by about 900 p.m. Then Tuesday, some major changes on the way. Of course, it's by the time we all head back to work and school, but temperatures climbing into the 80s inland, 70s along the shoreline. We'll see plenty of sunshine around and just a few high thin clouds filtering the sunshine. We have the chance for an isolated shower or storm on Wednesday and then some shower chances creep back into the forecast the end of the work week heading into the weekend. Although there's still quite a bit of uncertainty here. You can see the American model has showers arriving by Friday evening. Look at the European model. The showers are still off to the north by that time.
They haven't moved in yet. So, we'll continue to keep an eye on it, but for now, we have showers possible for both Friday and Saturday. We'll be able to narrow that down as we get closer to then. Temperatures peaking in the 80s Tuesday and Wednesday. Then we're back closer to seasonable by Thursday and Friday.
