Typhoon Sinlaku pulls away from the Mariana island and stays east of the Philippines, what is next?Added:
Typhoon Sinaku is now pulling away from the Marana Islands, starting to pick up its pace just slightly as it's weakening. But still at this time uh here on our Thursday morning, we're still seeing some of the outer rain bands impact a lot of the northern Mariana Islands here. You're still looking at tropical storm strength conditions on already devastated areas from this storm system. These are some of the official reports and I use quotations and that word lightly with this because 116 mph winds were reported in Saipan in Guam 82 mph. Mind you, one that was before the station failed right when the eye wall was passing overhead there in Saipan. And two, that really doesn't take in account some of these areas right along the coast funneling between mountains and things like that.
I think and just based on the video evidence we are seeing like this right here, those winds were very much likely much higher than that out here up to 140 to 150 mph. Some of the strongest winds possible here on planet Earth and uh some of you out here in Cypan and Tinian went right through the middle of that.
And of course now it is going to be a long road to recovery. And my only hope is that as we continue to report on this word gets out, people around the world and we can get in some help here. And I know that uh Coast Guard, FEMA, Red Cross, all of that coming out to try to start to pick up the pieces and help out as well as just your neighbors here out here uh along these islands. That's a big thing about in the Western Pacific.
A lot of times neighbors just come out, help each other out. Covering this for two decades, it's something see quite often. But taking a look at the broader picture, you know, this storm system is heading off towards the north. Still a lot of questions. I've got a message today from somebody nervous in the Philippines saying, "Is it coming towards the Philippines?" And it's not.
It's going to pull off towards north and eventually goes towards the east. For our friends in the Mariana Islands, still here as we go ahead through your day on Friday. Chances of rain possible in the backside of this. It's really not until Saturday into the Sunday that the sunshine sets up and vastly vastly improving conditions through Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday. You see all sorts of sunshine. Temperatures staying into the mid to high 80s. That heat's going to be setting in. No air conditioning, mind you, cuz power is still out for a lot of people out here. Nearly 200,000 people without power across all of these islands. So, that's going to continue to weaken. Head off towards north here.
Still breezy but improving conditions heading into the weekend here across Guam and Saipan. Now let's take a look you know some of the main points. Well conditions are improving through Thursday. Worst typhoon in Saipan since you that is hands down storms heading out to sea not going to have any impact on the Philippines directly at least.
Japan maybe long range influence of some of the weather further off towards the United States but that'll be indirect.
So there's look at a storm dry air wrapping it around behind it. Actually, what's eating away at it is the same ridge that's bringing all that high pressure across the Philippines. High pressure ridge back towards the west.
You have that little trough back towards the north. Part of the rainy season front kind of hooking it, but still it's combating that ridge. That ridge keeping things dry in the Philippines, too.
Maybe by the end of the weekend, it'll weaken a just enough with our trough kind of digging down part of the rainy season front. increased cloud cover across parts of uh northern New Zon Monday and the Tuesday, but generally speaking, it's going to stay hot and dry. Here you can see where the rainfall accumulation is going to set up as opposed towards the north. And then you have the rainy season front, the Mayu bayou front stretching back towards the west. And you can see right here, as I mentioned, Monday and the Tuesday, see the tiniest bit of rainfall possible across uh Luzon. And that is to be honest a indirect impact from this storm. You're not getting you know direct but it is going up and it's pulling the energy uh down. Remember everything's connected those little teleconnections here uh that uh help influence weather. Why we look at more than just the models we uh kind of analyze the atmosphere. That's what a meteorologist is, right? All right. So our storm system pulling off towards the north there. Big old wave still kicking off of this. I've been talking about this for a solid week now. how the coast of Japan, uh, Sheibba, Nijima, classic surfing spots, massive waves. But also over here towards the Philippines, including places like Chargo, um, you're going to have some 10 to 15t swells still here as we go ahead through Thursday and the Friday. Does back off though by the weekend as that energy starts to dissipate and our storm moves further off towards the north. Let's take a look at our flyover. If you're new to this channel, thanks for subscribing, following along, but also if you want to become one of our Patreon members and maybe a sponsor. I'm looking for somebody who wants to sponsor this graphic and I use it in every single one of the updates. Know you guys out here in the Philippines like it. Easterly still bringing the chance of some rainfall across parts of Mindanao. Uh really over towards Charow pretty dry there for you. Techon 32° could see some preip in the higher elevations out there in Lee, but nothing too bad. Sibu 32. Uh take a look over towards Bakalot off towards the west you're going to be at 33. Out towards Pelawan. Um yeah, temperatures into the 30s. Let's fly back towards the east though. And yeah, you can see as we go ahead closer to Manila. You don't want to forget about beall out there. Temperatures into the 30s. You still got some sunny skies too.
And then we take a look at northern Luzon on the hot side here for Friday.
But remember, as mentioned, could have a little increase in the cloud cover by Monday into the Tuesday and the ever so slightest chance of precipitation as we go ahead into the end of the weekend.
All right, for your outlook for surfing though, yeah, going to be seeing those long period swells, not much wind in the Shargo. And our friends out there, you're going to be looking forward to that. So, I hope you have a good time getting out there on the waves. All right, taking a look at our Patreon members. Thank you guys so much. Uh, a lot of work goes into these updates and uh I've been busy staying with you not only during the storm but after the storm. I don't just show up for the big click moments. Stick around with you and we're going to continue to keep you posted at for the foreseeable future as we go ahead through the summer season in the Philippines. Rainy season front across Japan and then we start to get picked up more so with the upcoming typhoon season. But I think my next big video I'm going to be putting out is about the El Nino, super Elnino that's setting up and actually how this storm could actually kind of kick it off and help start it um going a little bit stronger. I'll get in the details with it. But I do a lot of work here, guys.
And that's all thanks to our Patreon members. I'm able to afford to do a lot of work with you here. And uh I just want to say a big shout out to all of them. If you want to check that out, link is down below. I'll never but these behind a pay wall, but if you do, eternally grateful.
Lastly, but not least, know your information through those official sources. They never claim to be or never want to be an official source. That's too much stress on me, but I try my best to relay their information out to here.
And hopefully in this last storm, we did that enough to um help out and inform at least a few of you. Stay safe out there.
And number one thing, of course, thanks for watching. Actually, no. Thanks for watching. And number one thing, of course, stay safe out there. That's what I wanted to say. Have a good day.
