[00:00:00]See, I came across something recently and honestly, it made me stop for a second and it is a report says that there was an attack around attack around school in Orile-Iganmu local government area of Oyo State and children, teachers, and families were affected.

[00:00:18]As of recent, I was hearing that one of the teachers has been beheaded.

[00:00:22]The reason this caught my attention is because for many people, school is supposed to be the safest place for a child. But over the years, Nigeria has experienced repeated attacks affecting schools.

[00:00:34]From cases like Chibok, Dapchi, Kankara, and others since 2014. Report estimates that more than 1,500 school children have been caught up in mass school abduction incident across different parts of this country. And this is bigger than numbers because every time a school is affected, there are parents worried, children dealing with fear in the hands of their captivities, and community asking the same questions, are schools still safe?

[00:01:03]What makes it more concerning is that insecurity does not just affect today.

[00:01:07]It affects education emotionally, our well-being, and the future of young children in Nigeria. This is no longer a north, south, east, or west conversation. This is a Nigerian conversation because every child deserves to learn in safety. That should not even be negotiable at all. But we need to understand that security needs to be taken with high measure in Nigeria.
