Putin Says Visit to Beijing Seeks to Strengthen Ties With CCPAdded:
Russian President Vladimir Putin is in China. He's set to meet with regime leader Xi Jinping. That's as the Ukraine war again intensifies as a drone is shot down in NATO airspace. NTD's International Correspondent Arion Pastar has the latest.
Russian President Vladimir Putin arriving in China on Tuesday, set to meet with Chinese leader Xi Jinping.
Putin says his visit aims to strengthen ties with the Chinese regime.
Today Russia-China relations have reached a truly unprecedented level.
This special nature is reflected in the atmosphere of mutual understanding and trust.
The visit comes less than a week after President Trump wrapped up his own trip to Beijing. Economist Ed Price tells CNBC that the timing of Putin's visit is no coincidence. According to Price, Putin is trying to signal that Russia is closer to China than the US is. This because Moscow seeks Beijing's support in combating the West, including Ukraine. According to Price, as long as President Putin has territorial ambitions in his West, which is Ukraine, he must have diplomatic success in his East, which is China.
Putin often relies on communist regimes, for example, by using North Korean soldiers in the Ukraine war. The conflict continues affecting NATO member countries with a NATO fighter jet shooting down an incoming drone in Estonia on Tuesday. That's exactly how our defense design is supposed to work.
The authorities are delegated down to the lowest tactical level so that we can defend every inch of alliance territory when there's an incursion like that. The commander also commenting on a US decision to withdraw some troops from Europe. I'd like to emphasize this decision does not impact the executability of our regional plans. He added that Western allies will continue to support Ukraine by selling weapons and more.
