This framework is a fragile diplomatic band-aid that fails to bridge the fundamental trust deficit between Tehran’s nuclear ambitions and Jerusalem’s security imperatives. It offers a temporary technical pause while leaving the structural roots of regional volatility entirely untouched.

Welcome to TV on the hour. I'm Sivan Rviv coming to you live from Israel with all of the latest headlines coming out of the region and beyond. Here are the latest developments. A senior US official says a deal between the United States and Iran could be signed in the coming days, though not immediately.
According to reports, Iran's Supreme Leader has given what is described as general agreement to a proposed framework following talks led by President Trump. The plan is set to include Iranian commitments on its nuclear program, including the disposal of enriched uranium stockpiles and a temporary suspension of enrichment.
However, key details, including how that uranium would be removed or handled, have not yet been finalized. President Trump has said negotiators should not rush even after indicating that a preliminary agreement is largely in place. The deal still requires final approval from both Washington and Thran, and officials caution that nothing is done until it's done. Iranian officials are describing a broader package, including relief from US pressure and a potential deescalation across the region. The reported framework does not currently address Iran's missile program or a long-term ban on uranium enrichment, issues expected to be discussed in future negotiations. Marco Rubio said the following.
We thought we might have some news last night, maybe today. I wouldn't read too much into it. Takes a little while to hear back. So, we have a what I think is a pretty solid thing on the table in terms of their ability to open up the straits, get the straits open, enter into a very real, significant, timelimited negotiation on the nuclear matters and hopefully we can pull it off. It has a lot of support in the Gulf, has a lot of support globally.
Every country that we've walked through, it understands it's very not just very reasonable, but it's the right thing for the world to get done. As the president said, he's not in a hurry. He's not going to make a bad deal. I mean, the president's not going to make a bad agreement. So, let's see what happens.
We We're going to give diplomacy every chance to succeed before we we explore the alternatives. Look, the president's not going to make a bad deal. He's just not. This this issue, no one has done more and no one has been more serious about the threat of a nuclear Iran than President Trump has been. And so, I'm very confident, we should all be very confident, that we're not going to have a we're either going to have a good agreement or we're going to have to deal with it another way. We'd prefer to have a good agreement.
In Israel, the emerging US Iran deal is being met with growing concern with officials warning that key pre-war objectives may not be fully met. Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyao issued his first public response, saying he spoke with President Trump and stressed that any agreement must require Iran to dismantle its nuclear sites and remove its uranium, enriched uranium. Netanyahu said Trump assured him those conditions are part of the discussions and also reaffirmed Israel's right to defend itself against threats across the region, including from Lebanon. The prime minister thanked Trump for what he called his unwavering commitment to Israel's security. Meanwhile, reports suggest the initial framework could include a 60-day ceasefire potentially extending to Iranbacked Hisbala in Lebanon. But with key details still unclear, Israeli officials are signaling they will continue to push for stronger terms in any final agreement. The IDF says a soldier was killed in battle in southern Lebanon. 19-year-old Sergeant Noi Lizer from Elat, combat engineer in the 601st Brigade. He was killed in an explosive drone attack with another soldier seriously wounded in that same incident. Over the past 24 hours, Hezbollah has launched dozens of drones toward IDF forces and border communities. The IDF says it responded with strikes targeting operatives and infrastructure, including a site where four Hezbollah members were identified and eliminated. Troops also destroyed observation systems used to track and direct attacks against Israeli forces.
Meanwhile, IDF chief of staff alamir has approved plans to expand operations, saying the military is determined to deepen the strikes against Hezbollah.
In Gaza, the IDF says it has eliminated a Hamas operative who took part in the October 7th attack and was recently planning new strikes against Israeli troops. According to the military, Lui Basal sniper in Hamas's Zetun Battalion was killed in an air strike in Gaza City. The IDF says Basal infiltrated the Zikim base during the October 7th massacre and had recently posed an immediate threat to forces on the ground. Meanwhile, over the past day, IDF forces struck multiple Hamas weapon sites in central Gaza. The military says the targets included storage facilities holding anti-tank missiles, RPGs, and other combat equipment. Another site contained explosives, grenades, and ammunition, which the IDF says were intended for use against Israeli troops and civilians near the front line.
That's a wrap for this edition of ILV on the Hour, broadcasting from Israel and the heart of the Middle East. I'm Sivan Raviv. Thank you very much for watching.
