Government accountability requires officials to take responsibility for institutional failures, even when they are no longer in power; the Epstein case files mishandling demonstrates how government agencies can fail to protect survivors' privacy and release sensitive information improperly, highlighting the need for independent oversight and third-party involvement in sensitive document releases.

Trump FAILS TO STOP Fmr. AG From TESTIFYING in Epstein ProbeAdded:
Pretty landmark moment coming Friday.
Pam Bondi, a former attorney general behind closed doors answering questions from the House Oversight Committee about the mishandling of the Epstein case files. It's been nearly half a year since that law passed, requiring the full release of the full Epstein case files. And yet, there are millions of pages we haven't seen. There are survivors who are outraged that they were outed by the administration by mistake, that the identities were released, people who didn't want their identities released. And there are other survivors who are outraged that for years, for years they've been seeking copies of their records from their cases and that they still haven't been released despite the passage of that law. Those will be just some of the issues Pam Bondi will have to address when she's sitting down for a transcribed interview. This is not a public hearing with TV cameras taking the oath and doing things theatrically.
This is going to be relatively secretive. relatively word will get out of the room as to what's being said in some of the tenor and tone of this interview. I spoke with Annie Farmer, an outspoken Epstein survivor who has championed the cause of transparency with the Epstein files. What she'd like to hear asked or what she'd like to have asked. Here's what Annie Farmer had to say.
>> So, we don't get to see Pam Bondi answer the questions, perhaps your questions Friday. What do you hope she says or answers?
Uh I think we are really interested in her answering to what went wrong with this process. So there's been a lot of attention given to the problems with the way that this um you know release of files happened and primarily I'd say that was in you know issues around redactions right both in the overred redactions of names of potential perpetrators and things like that and then in the release of private information names phone numbers um other sensitive information about victims. And so we know that it happened. We have never gotten any satisfying answers about this process, about why it happened, about what went wrong, or even any kind of apology or accountability for it. So now that her she's not at risk of losing her job, she's coming in there as a former attorney general. I would hope that she would just be really she would be honest with the American people about what happened and take take some responsibility.
Do you get the sense the administration is hoping you go away and that this story goes away?
>> Oh, definitely. I think that, you know, they've been uh said as much. I mean, you know, Trump has said as much. Why are we still talking about this, you know, multiple times? Um, I think there's been a big effort to pivot to focus on other things. But, you know, we have continued to ask these questions because we've deserved these answers.
And I think that when, you know, people are pulled about this, we see that Americans stand with us and wanting to get to the bottom of it and wanting to better understand why no one else has been prosecuted for these crimes. Now that these files have been released, you know, we can see that these investigative leads are there. So for them to say they don't exist, it just doesn't hold water.
>> Andy Farmer has some other concerns that there was a mishandling, a botching of this by the Trump administration. So there's got to be some caution taken or perhaps a different approach taken.
Perhaps a third party needs to get involved before more of these files are released. Farmer says more have to be released, but differently this time, more carefully this time. Again, here's Andy Farmer.
>> So how should this move forward? You obviously want more records released, including the records you all have been fighting to get released all this time, but you've seen the sloppiness with which this administration has released the first set. How would you recommend this thing proceed?
>> Yeah, it's a great question. I think it's hard right now to trust this particular DOJ to do the right thing. I mean, I think ultimately, you know, we're clear on Yeah. wanting wanting some of these bigger questions answered about why Epstein was given this preferential treatment, why his crimes were essentially ignored, um why my sister's 1996 report, you know, was ignored. So, you know, we've we've seen different people in government providing different possibilities of how we can get some of this right. Whether there's, you know, um Congressman Garcia recommended an OIG, an Office of Inspector General investigation into what went wrong with um you know, that initial report from Maria Farmer. Um we have heard that the House Oversight Committee, you know, potentially can can do more to get to the bottom of things.
Um and then you know yes there's more records. We all believe there are more records to come out. What we hope is if there's a ref a reflection on what went wrong with this process if there is more release that it can be handled in a better way. Right. Um and that ultimately we will get some of these answers that we need in order to move on.
>> Lastly, Annie, is there anything you've been working on or anything new on this front the last few weeks that I forgot to ask you about?
I mean, I think that, you know, recently one of the things that has come up, you know, and I I can't remember now. It's all it's all running together exactly when this happened, but, you know, Comr had made the announcement several weeks back about some Republicans um on the House Oversight Committee being open to a potential pardon for Dylan Maxwell.
Um, and so I think that really fired up a lot of us on wanting to make sure people understood why that would be so problematic and so harmful for survivors. You know, we did see um Todd Blanch come out in some, you know, media recently or I guess when he was being questioned actually um by members of Congress saying that he would not support that, would not push for that. I think we're just trying to hold them to that because um it would be extremely damaging for her to receive a pardon, for the only person that's been prosecuted for any of these crimes that to be released. And so um that's something I feel strongly about and I'm continuing to push for.
>> That means calling members of Congress, pushing that issue.
>> Yes. Uh yeah, exactly. communicating whenever there's an opportunity with members of Congress to help them understand. No information that she would pro provide would be good information, right? We we know she has been charged with perjury. This is not someone to um make any sort of deals with. Um we need her to serve her sentence. Hopefully be transferred back to an appropriate facility to serve the remainder of the sentence.
>> Well, when it's behind closed doors, there should be less theatric fewer theatrics to all of this. It's pretty much etched in people's memories what Pam Bondi did at the public hearing before Congress at which she appeared earlier this year when she wouldn't turn her back to face the Epstein survivors who stood in the audience. You've been seeking an audience with her. That image of her not turning around is almost iconic. And there was that counter punching she did, this new genre of attacking the questioners that Department of Justice uh leaders have undertaken in the public hearings before Congress.
>> You know, Senator, she if you work for me, you would have been fired because you were c censured by Congress for lying with your >> We can stipulate to you can stipulate to all your personal attacks on the Democratic members of the committee.
>> Personal attacks. You've been attacking my FBI director. You've been attacking my office.
But what we're interested in borders are >> what we're interested in is the answer to these oversight questions.
>> So you were asked by my colleague you were asked by attacking good people.
>> A regular order madam chair so I can ask a question.
>> Should be less of that. Sua Submayam the Virginia Democrat told me he expects something some type of counter punching but perhaps perhaps it's more muted when it's behind closed doors. I've been getting comments and questions about the forthcoming Pam Bondi interview and how she has conducted her business. as US Attorney General when it comes to the Epstein case files. Liberal grandma, interesting title, writes that she thinks Bondie will be just as arrogant behind closed doors as she allegedly was in front of the cameras when speaking about the Epstein case files. Yeah. But Andy Farmer said Pam Bonnie's job isn't on the line anymore and that she should be freed. She should be able to speak more liberated about what happened with the Epstein case files. This is clearly still a political issue menacing the Trump administration. It has been months and they have not gotten this behind them despite their efforts. Midterm elections are coming. They're racing toward us and this can be a front of mind issue for voters and it'll be a front of mind issue for us. We will stick with this story indefinitely.
