The Obedient Movement, led by Peter Obi, has achieved significant acceptance in Northern Nigeria through grassroots mobilization, with 1.5 million members across all 37 states and 33 local governments. The movement's strategy for 2027 focuses on agricultural development as a key priority for Northern voters, addressing regional concerns about economic marginalization. The movement emphasizes five core values: character, competence, consistency, credibility, and compassion. To ensure electoral success, the movement is implementing rigorous candidate selection processes to identify individuals who genuinely support the movement's vision, while also addressing legal challenges that could affect electoral outcomes. The movement advocates for unity among opposition forces and emphasizes that Northern voters should not be discarded, as they represent a crucial demographic for achieving national transformation.

INTERVIEW: Dr. Yunusa Tanko speaks on 2027 - Obi & Northern VotersAdded:
All right, welcome back to Landslide News. Yeah, we have a special guest in the studio today. Uh, the head of obedient worldwide, Dr. Yunusa Tango.
Dr. Yusa, you're welcome.
>> Thank you very much for having me.
>> All right. And then I also have my wonderful friend Kingsley Okafo.
>> Thank you.
>> All right, Dr. You're welcome. First of all, I want to first of all start with the obedient movement. Let's talk about the ob because there's a little uh transitioning now some in some way of the UK movement. So there's still the obedient movement then there's still the UK movement. Tell us about the obedient movement.
>> Well, the obedient movement is a product of people's struggle for good governance.
The demands were clear. We want credible leadership. We want those who can steer the ship and be accountable to what they promise the people. We want people who believe that Nigeria can be better than the way it is. And so mostly it's being midwife by you know the Nigerian youth and it's organically generated and then when it moves it found in favor of his excellency Mr. who share these particular values. And so every Nigerian who is interested in having a better Nigeria and I keep on saying this that we have obedient everywhere including the presidential villa behind we kill behind his excellency instead of and that is actually the fum and base of the obedient movement and um if you move ahead you'll find out that every Nigerian the young and the agent technocrats intelligencia and everybody is interested said in having a good governor and that is one of the basics of the obedient movement.
>> So why why why do you think it's Peter that can bring about this good governance in this country?
>> Somebody was just sharing a thought with me just now. He said he just learned and this person called me from Cano state.
He said um he's just going through some profile of his excellency Mr. will be that he leaves millions of money. I say 75 million naira and he left it in the account of the government of Anra state.
There has not been any till today except from former governor of state who left 5 billion. Peter O is has distinct himself from people somebody who can leave such a humongous money in the account of government while leaving office. Most governors will have stolen that particular money and redouble the idea of even creating a way of so that clearly distinct him from a governor who wants good governance for his people and to confirm that the governor of Taraba state asked the former governor William and all that where did he get money to build the airport in an he said it's part of the money that Peter so clearly it shows and to ensure thought that that money was actually confirmed for those doubting Thomas when Peter was leaving that particular money he called all the bankers with all due respect I think the president governor of an amra state Alexi was one of the banker and he asked them one by one >> did I leave this amount in your bank they confirmed in affirmative yes did I leave this amount in your bank they confirm in affirmative till today no person have been able to contradict this fact those are the things that completely differentiate from there are other things some of them that are amazing you cannot believe it so that is why people have the including my humble self I've been chairman of political party >> I've been presidential candidate >> cautious party >> yes I've been the chairman of all political party in Nigeria some people will be amazed when they say this little me that is the truth my record and then I have never I've not seen one one till today a person of his character and what he can do and that makes him so different. He think differently, he act differently. He is depth of knowledge, depth of intelligence and somebody who can energize the base, somebody who can generate funds, somebody who can secure fund, somebody who can account for fund.
That's what Nigeria need at the moment.
>> Okay. All right. Let let me go into the proper discussion talking about I mean everything is is important but acceptance of Peter will be in the northern region of Nigeria. I mean we have a lot of skeptics telling us that is not accepted in the north. when I was appointed on September 5th, 2024 as a coordinator of the obedient movement. Uh some people thought that okay, it's because I'm from the north. Some believe that I am from the north that is the reason why I'm um but Peter also said that not only that I have the capacity and the credibility to do so today.
You can fact check as we are sitting here the obedient movement has structure in all the federal republic of Nigeria including local government.
>> Yeah >> maybe we can test run it. I could have just check my database and find out what local government do you belong to and we'll call people. We have 37 states of the federation. All of them present.
They are there. We have 33 per local government. They are there as a database. We check we have about 1.5 million still counting. Somebody was challenging me. One of our comrade like that was saying that Dr. T when you are flaunting this database I get amazed.
But that is the truth is what I have. So I can't give you lies or what I don't have but they are existing. Now to challenge this particular fact in 2023 there's no way you will hear the voice of Mr. Peter will be discussed in the north even if you have it you have it with the derogatory remarks >> but today he's being discussed at the highest level but it matters yes where it matters is being discussed to the fact that malams are debunking the lies against him to the fact that young musicians are singing northern musician co are singing for Peter all day female and male defending the internet. I just watched one video of a young boy contradicting a simple situation that was alleged to have happened in Anra meaning what refer to the issue of be you know um numbering people from the northern and the guy came out and said let's even assume >> that even is true which is not really >> can you compare a Peter Obi who was protecting life and to those who are killing people >> certainly >> in terms of the OPC So that is to tell you the quantum and the level of which the level of which Mr. Peter has gone in the north.
>> It is amazing for me and I thank God because when I took over the leadership my target was actually to find out how we can create the young minds which is generated in the southern part >> to really differentiate and understand the need for them to support a candidature of Mr. OB rather than being fed with lies today I can alternatively at 20 to 20% be modest >> I have been able to achieve that is glad news for me >> from every state you go Mr. Epito has been discussed in the north.
>> All right. Will some of us look at uh how obedient movement resonated with young Nigerians seeing obedient movement to epitomize uh good governance value for money spending. I mean someone know told me the other time that even though PTOB didn't do anything even though there was nothing he would have done differently from the current government that he would have saved us from this wastage of resources and that would have been tremendous performance knowing that we have quantum of wastages you know wrong prioritization of projects and here and there. Now you imagine uh obedient movement with Quangquasia's movement. You think Quanquasia also symbolizes value for money spending, good governance? Do you think the margin of this movement is going to whittle down that epidome of good governance, obedience, the natural obedience have obedience?
>> Thank you very much. Let me go a little bit further in terms of these two peers.
>> Yeah, >> we worked on it for I particularly I was so interested in it. So I I personally to I worked with you for about 4 years.
>> Yeah.
>> And the reason why is this. I'm from Cano State.
>> Oh, interesting.
>> Yeah. So his excellency engineer he worked diligently in area of education.
>> Yeah.
>> Which pairs him up with his excellency Mr. Peter. You remember Peter will be donating money for nursing schools and all. In fact, I met somebody who told me that Peter pays his school scholarship and today he's a pilot and that symbolizes what excellency was able to achieve. Many people, children of nobody have become pilots, doctors, nurses and that of course is spending money where it's worth.
That is his excellency.
Apart from that he learned this particular idea that okay Lagos has been far ahead of us. They have bridges and all of that. What tell you that you cannot do something like that in Cano.
Then we had the octopus bridge in Cano.
The octopus bridge is right in the middle of Cano. When you enter Cano it lead you straight to the to our monarch the the emir of Cano. It takes you straight to government house. It take you straight to our market which is our heritage and then it links you to the Asaw world. This was done under that particular leadership of his excellency engineer bringing glador bringing connectivity bringing modernization into cano. Apart from that he went further to ensure that the area of technology was something that he faced squarely.
Education of course is is fantastic for him. So he has synergized with that. So you see prudency in spending and accountability has shown clearly without you asking for it. It was done done everywhere. So that today Cano can be proud to tell you that we have quite a number of highly intellectual person.
You find that in in the convers of them are doctors, professionals, professors today.
>> Pilots.
>> Yes. And pilots. In fact, one of them flew his excellency in say you are you are the person that trained me. And these are children of nobody.
>> I saw that video.
>> These are children of nobody. What I mean is that when they were going into the plane he now of your your father is a commissioner or even a counselor I don't want >> I want to see people those who are selling organizers all that is real genuine >> transformation there was a story a small drama that happened in middle drama >> it was believed that only anybody would j we don't want to come Yeah.
>> So he spoke in he said don't I heard that some of you may not come back if you don't come and take care of your parent >> and all of them came back. Majority of them came back. Today we are proud to have some of them doing the best thing for Niger. So imagine if the whole 19 state in the north has adopted this particular same strategy had will have enormous transformation of the matter.
I am glad and many Nigerians are glad that we have and his excellency Mr. Peter Obi, his excellency working together to help salvage what is left of Nigeria.
>> Interesting. Okay. They were able to do this because they won their elections.
>> Yeah.
>> Uh let us not underate what uh the incumbent can do. We saw 2023 the voting was really really very very fantabulous >> for Labor party then. So we are not having much issue about voting. People know B2B and so they going to vote them massively. But the accounting there was an error. Issues of polling unit agent, issues of not being monitored, issues of uh votes growing fatter and bigger before through the collision system you know before it arrests at the end. If for any reason we hope it doesn't happen because the electoral loss we have now is not even really better than the one had then it's zero in sadly. So if for any reason uh the vote decides to grow bigger and fatter while on the way why that grows thinner or even remain the same >> are we still going to go through the court process or you have alternative >> um I will speak very little of the strategy >> okay >> because for obvious reason >> but I'll also amplify on the present situation we just all watch what the presidential primary look at the ABC that tells you what to look like in the general election. I can't imagine the deputy speaker right in front of him.
Counting was done starting 1 2 3 50 >> 10 to 50 50 to 1,00 700,000 and all right in front of him. This still within the APC this is just within the APC that is enough in any developed country to impeach that person in any developed country. In fact it will ignite fire but they were doing it openly without they don't care they do it with a lot of distance so don't be surprised that tomorrow when the election is being counted his excellency Mr. president walk into IMA and say I have won the election and me win election no other person and this is the figure you are to announce so we should expect the worst while we prepare it >> for the worst we don't we pray against it happening >> but the international community should be on alert about the happening we are not creating stories it's not me that said it it's what I saw >> on the screen so the worst is to happen I don't want to must appeal to Nigerians that we have a country to save.
I'm not the only one feeling the pinch.
>> Every one of us are feeling it.
>> Don't pretend about it. Don't indulge.
Don't support it because what you are thinking you are benefiting from now would haunt you so tremendously in the future.
>> That's my appeal today.
>> We need to service this country. All right, let's look between the northern region. Yes.
>> Now is a region that is comprised of three zones. Uh north central then we have northeast then we have northwest.
Now within the north central uh the last election saw a lot of support for Peter OP.
>> Correct.
>> And he won states. Nasarawa play two and some other state. Exactly. But from the northwest and the northeast, we didn't see that kind of influence. That's one.
Then secondly, we've also not seen notable Nigerian from the northern extract coming out to support Peter or or this movement.
>> Okay. The only one we've seen is from his last vice that contested women in Labor Party that year which was a form of criticism who has now also moved to PRP. Are you looking at reaching out to these groups so that there will be some support coming on the way? You're very sure. In fact, um I had a private discussion uh with his excellency who was telling me that u we need to get more people involved from the core northern part especially the northwest and this is because a lot of lies is being told >> not that the the the key actors don't want to come in and with all due respect I'm saying this on my honor not to the market any political party we were all part of the ADC and the idea was to work together as a team and his excellency is still interested in having everybody to work together as a team. But the truth about is that the ABC ADC has been put up as a booby trap.
>> Yeah. for any candidate that wants to run and they need to look at the the the legal implication because most of the people that were with us in the ADC who are majorly the people that you are actually referring to still remain in the ADC for obvious leading but they should look I'll just advise they should look critically at the legal issues that the ADC was put to not as if it it wanted it by itself but they should look at it anybody that wins elections in the ADC stands to be rejected.
>> Yes, >> this is fact because the last pronouncement of the court clearly stipulate that all the congresses and all the electoral processes that was done.
So if you go into an election with such a legal issue on top of you that means that anybody that wants to win election you should just make sure that you stay close to you like chupa gum and me when you win you just take you to confirm you've lost.
>> Yeah.
>> So why waste your effort when we can work together in this? This is a sit this is a life situation. It's like a life location of where you can destination is.
>> So it's my advice. I I'm not saying it in any way, but I'm just pleading for them to understand. We need to work together. Nobody is against it. But this particular government, we need to find a way to work together and bring the right candidate on board. It is an urgent appeal. Uent very urgent appeal. That's what I can say.
>> Okay. There's this there they are also widespread um uh the first allegation you addressed it already that Peter said people from the not extraction in an amra should take a card you know but have you reached out to of course Eupaire is a figure that we cannot overlook of course he's being he's been incarcerated I don't have information that he's out already h people like that of notable influence in the northern region and also appeal to almost everybody in the south elitist in that level. Have you reached out to him?
Because it was surprising we saw his son going to the ADC. You know, one of the most highly intelligent individual are those who does things that you don't expect them to do. M >> remember in 2023 his excellency um when his excellency Mr. Peter visited the northern group when they were having interviews for all candidates. There was a mini drama that happened.
His excellency said that Peter Obi is now in his states that he can also arrest him the way he arrested him in an >> okay and that was not true.
>> I was the IPAC chairman as at that time.
Okay. and I came out and I challenged that particular statement. It was me that his excellency um came to complain to I have the pictures.
It happened at the pro hotel right there in an he was assistant secretary to the political body I think ACN.
>> Yeah. So he came to work for his party but he was denied and Peter Obi was in Abda right and then the PDP was in government. It was the PDP who acted not Mr. Peter Obi because his excellency Mr. Peter B was also struggling for his own life >> at that particular time. So it was not true and we cleared it very clearly. But today the highest the most important person that man erup could hold in highest esteem is >> so I'm going beyond reaching out is close to him and close to the family trying to make sure that whatever he's suffering as a political persecution >> he has people who can stand for him in defense. I was there too. So politics sometimes played you negatively at a point that later on when you behave in such a way you could get the best of support from the person that you never think you can get >> and I and I can attest to some of the story there are so many that excellency Mr. Peter OB does you remember when he was a governor >> somebody removed his car his his aid went and parked his car in front of somebody's house they did this thing what they call his car and when he came somebody would have been expecting that the man will just say arrest the man say sorry sir it's my boy that make supposed to the time in which you left they became the best offense to Mr. capital because he knows what is right and what is wrong and he does it with a lot of free mind and that's today why he's such a pleasant person to work with all right pleasant person to work with you know um there is a saying generally that out of every 12 there is a Judas but in Nigeria you have more Judas than any other person in the 12 when you see somebody like P2B at the front now his followers Is there any mechanism of knowing that those P2B are running with campaigning for walking around P2B you know also epitomizes those kind of traits that himself is known for because if he becomes the president at the end of the day no matter how energetic he is no matter how strong he is you can't be everywhere at the same time so what mechanism does it or is it just or somebody say always available to go and protest or somebody is just available.
Is there any mechanism of ensuring that people who have just about same quality even why we are unique? Well, um we did a program just on Saturday, last Saturday, uh the um aspirants summit.
Okay. And one of the things we're doing, we took the bull by the horn to just mobilize everybody to come in. We actually elucidated and amplify the five Cs. It had to do with character, competence, consistency, uh credibility, and compassion. Compassion >> which is one of the five pillars that Mr. Peter will be exemplifying. In that regard, we were expecting everybody because we made it clear that we knew that some of the people who ran with him in 2023 went with the flag.
>> That was where I was going and then we were not happy with some because they didn't even know the constitution of the Labor Party. He didn't even know the direction which M Peter P is going. He don't even know the contigerian people. This time around, it won't be so. And because he won't be so because he's trying as much as possible to actually you know distill those who have the capacity to run who will follow the trend of delivering a new Nigeria.
>> Fortunately for me I happen to be part of the selection committee of some of the candidate that may run with him. We we intend to do that justice to just to give you a particular example of the people that we think may run with them.
>> Okay. Let me say integration um certainly uh a lot of obedience are we already in NDC even where before you we arrived there you know uh to come together now uh during this integration you can't just get into NDC and say chase everybody away we are the righteous people I mean we all live on earth here so how successful are you going to be able to you know integrate you know is it that everybody's going to be subject to the same evaluation or you simply say no no No, no. You people, what do you have in your house are dirty people? I came with a list from obedience and you flood them. Is that what you're going to?
>> No, no, no, no.
In this particular process of moving to NDC, >> yes, >> I happen to meet the leader of the party >> which I know him quite some times but not as close as what I've been able to discover. His excellency >> is an exemplary somebody. It's amazing that we have such people. Unfortunately, we not even know to the cont of the kind of persons that they are very straightforward, direct and take action immediately. And then he said to me, do you know that I was a I was a policeman?
>> Yes.
>> I was a security man. I guard people.
>> Yes.
>> I was guarding people. But because I did my work diligently, >> a lot of people now recommended me and then I ended up becoming today I became a governor and now I'm leading the charge and possibly I'm going to form governor.
>> Yes. you know and then he said we need credible people he didn't even give he said look we don't want to disqualify anybody we don't want to disqualify everybody cuz the screening take place want to disqualify anybody because they must have loved us to have come in they see something that they want but then it's not all of us that will be in position of power but all of us can work together and still get the benefit yes >> do you get the gist that means to you that he wants everybody that are interested in changing the fortune of the country and so therefore the selection committee with him and all of that should look at those particular persons for now while others two also play the supportive role but all of us are together in one piece and one one mission so that way nobody should feel disenfranchised and nobody should feel that if it's not me then everybody's go to hell but they should all remember that we are nobody's going anywhere now it's not like before nobody's going anywhere I Nobody work together.
Let's work together. There's nothing you are not going to come 2027 we going to see an election. The time table says I think sometime in January there about the northern voters 19. I'm very particular about this because you see we cannot always throw away the northern voters.
Are you sure they going to keep behind Mr. Pet?
>> I am I am having serious hope because Mr. Peter Obi his excellency has made it clear that major priority for him is agriculture and the economic well-being of the north is agriculture. His excellenc is a wealth creator. He energizes ways. Let me even play a funny one. He's an e man. Woman know how to do it. So when you look at when you look at the narrative of the north when we fly sometime you look at the corner and look at the landm alone is not up to Netherland and what they are chunking out is four times what we are making in oil so one state out of the United States can you imagine >> can you imagine so if he major on that alone the has enormous benefit for itself in youth and developing it land and what will happen the south too will enjoy from it every part of this country will benefit from it directly remember now the northern uh the northern pyramid of the thing that was building block of Nigeria so imagine if we have it four times that now the youth who are parading the street and being moved in trailers from north south completely because they will be they will be employed automatically >> I we enjoy farming it's our natural way of survival And when we can do that and if you have a president that take look this is where target and making Nigeria great >> what are we looking you don't need to shop for another you are a bus stop so that we too can be enjoying ACU >> from the caliphate to the emirates we have a a working system to make sure that not stand but lastly >> yes >> the issue of tenor >> you know I Amazingly now I'm adjusting my seat. Something incredible happened in the issue of the tenure. Look Mr. Peter is one of a kind today. Today if I leave the obedient movement I'll be extremely grateful to Mr. Mr. Peter extremely >> because he have been able to make me see something different from him >> and for me I've able to get to my destination. I've already sold out that particular personality that I believed in.
On the day of the convention of the party, >> him and his colleague, his excellency engine, he said, "Look, the issue of tenure which is doubtful in our from our people in the north." He gave it a clean slate.
He said I'm going to run for 4 years and the party announces and I'm also going to hand over in that four years to another person and the party announce it in a convention. So it is written.
>> It has never happened. It has never happened. He himself was the one who said it that look if you're that way this must be on the convention of the party. So it is documented. It's like you going to a court and say this is what I do with you.
You said it's like going to a court.
>> Yeah. But what do you mean by politicians? What can he ever be taken?
>> Have you ever seen a politician who tell you this kind of thing before? Told he was going to give us light in four years. He said if don't vote me but we don't have light but still our vote start with TB start WITH different I'm talking about people who have been able to exemplify it. and shown it clearly. You can see their record. OBI is the person that we're talking about now. Not >> well. I wanted to box him into a corner, but it looks good. Well, that that that was the last question. The issue of tenno whether it's going to be two, whether it's going to be one. Obi has told us it's going to be one, whether we can hold him to his voice. I'm sure Tanko will still be back here when Obi wins. Let me know if wins. I'll put him on this seat. When the tenor is he's trying to elongate, I say cool.
All right. Thank you for Thank you for being here. All right.
We'll be right back.
