Squash plants require manual pollination because male flowers open first thing in the morning and female flowers open later, so gardeners must transfer pollen from male to female flowers to ensure fruit development; without proper pollination, squash fruits will not grow properly.

Squash diaries part 3Added:
So, I have not been getting squash cuz I don't think I'm getting pollinated.
And then Harmony showed me how she pollinates hers with the guys and then none of the girls are open right now. Maybe on the other side. Um so, I did that with this one and he's actually growing.
And then I also did that with that guy and that guy.
And they actually are like bigger than normal. The rest are still really small and developed cuz they're not pollinated.
Look at how happy they are though.
So pretty.
And these are males too. So, all the males open I think first thing in the morning and then the females open later so you have to be quick to catch them.
These guys I just have not had any luck getting a male and a female.
So, this is usually what happens to the squash when it doesn't get pollinated.
And I have to spray this thing again.
Cleanse the buggies.
I was trying to see if there was any females. All the males are now closed cuz they open first thing in the morning. I was checking them. I think they'll grow backwards.
Even these I just I need to do more research cuz I need to figure this [ __ ] out. That's what I'm doing now. I'm not just planting and hoping for the best which that's kind of what I used to do.
Now if things don't work out I try to figure out why why or how to fix things like this. I have to treat it again but I need to cut it back but it's still looking pretty good so we're not giving up hope. I just don't know how to get these guys to grow.
Okay. Yeah, anyways we'll do research later.
Mhm.
