[00:00:37]The Island of Sodor is surrounded by beautiful blue seas. It has fields of green and sandy yellow beaches. There are rivers, streams, and lots of trees where the birds sing.

[00:00:50]There are windmills, quarries, coal mines, and visitors to the island arrive to see the engines.

[00:01:06]The island is also connected to the railway [music] called the Northwestern Railway, and it has lots and lots of railway lines. And it's been a very popular railway ever since its early days.

[00:01:32]One day, Murdoch was pulling a very long goods train coming back from the mainland.

[00:01:38]Faster, faster, [laughter] hurry up, Murdoch.

[00:01:42]We haven't got all day.

[00:01:45]He had been away on loan on the other railway for some time and was looking forward to coming home to his own shed for a rest and some peace and quiet.

[00:01:59]Then, there was trouble. One of his fuel trucks was leaking.

[00:02:09]And suddenly, it caught fire. Murdoch's driver tried to apply the brakes, but they wouldn't work. Oh, no.

[00:02:18]>> [groaning] >> Oh, no.

[00:02:20]>> [screaming] >> Help! HELP! I'M ON FIRE!

[00:02:25]AH, WHAT A SPLENDID DAY. I'll be glad to get back to my branch line.

[00:02:30]I wonder how Percy and Toby are doing while I'm away. Help! HELP! I'M ON FIRE!

[00:02:39]FIRSTLY, FIREBOX says Murdoch looks like he's in trouble. I must help him.

[00:02:46]Murdoch, use your brakes. Use your brakes!

[00:02:51]I can't! My brakes have failed and my train is too long to stop!

[00:02:58]I'll try and couple up behind you, Murdoch. I'm going to try and slow you down.

[00:03:03]>> [screaming] >> HURRY, THOMAS!

[00:03:11]COUPLE me up. I need to slow Murdoch down. Uh, right.

[00:03:15]The guard coupled Thomas to the back of the train. With all his strength, Thomas pulled back as hard as he could, but Murdoch wouldn't slow down.

[00:03:26]There was worse to come. Up ahead, one of Gordon's express coaches had derailed at Maron Station on the same track, thanks to some faulty points. The passengers got out, but it's too late to clear the line.

[00:03:41]Okay, I've got this.

[00:03:43]>> [screaming] >> Oh.

[00:03:46]Almost too late.

[00:03:48]Luckily, the signalman diverted the engines to a siding in the goods yard.

[00:03:52]Everyone watched in fear as the engines with their phones and video cameras.

[00:04:01]>> [screaming] >> Luckily, no one was hurt. Or at least not physically.

[00:04:14]Are you all right, K Murdoch? Uh, [sighs] I think so.

[00:04:18]Thank you, Thomas. But all I did was try to slow you down. I didn't do that much.

[00:04:24]Yes, you have. Your bravery slowed me down enough to stop me from suffering more damage than I would have done it.

[00:04:31]So, I'm very grateful that you're here, Thomas.

[00:04:40]>> [cheering] >> But what the engines didn't know was that the footage filmed from the phones and cameras had been posted onto the internet. And Thomas's heroic actions had gone viral. It even caught the attention of a film director.

[00:05:06]He's not just really useful, he's fantastic.

[00:05:11]I think that engine is perfect for the lead role in my next movie.

[00:06:11]The morning after Murdoch's runaway, the director and a few of his film crew arrived at Knapford station. The Fat Controller was there to greet him.

[00:06:22]Welcome to Knapford station. A good filming location, don't you think, Mr. Director?

[00:06:28]This ain't bad, Thomas. In fact, it's perfect. I can see it now.

[00:06:33]Thomas can rush into Knapford and rescue an engine trapped in a huge inferno.

[00:06:38]It can be our grand finale.

[00:06:42]Grand finale? I wonder what they mean by that.

[00:06:49]Morning, everyone. You'll never guess what I saw at Knapford just now.

[00:06:54]What is it, Percy?

[00:06:56]I was coming into Knapford station and I saw the Fat Controller with the film crew.

[00:07:01]A film crew?

[00:07:04]I wonder what film they'll be filming.

[00:07:06]I bet they want to make a film about us.

[00:07:09]If they do, I think it's obvious that I'm the best engine to star in the film.

[00:07:16]No [snorts] way. I think it should be about me. I should be the film star. I am the brightest and the shiniest.

[00:09:03]But ever since his recent mistake on a Bollywood film set while he was in India during his anniversary world tour, he felt very unsure about being a film star, even though he made it in the film himself. But, sir, can't Edward and Henry do it? They ought to be four or even an experienced engine to take the role.

[00:09:31]It'll be a mass of publicity for the Northwestern Railway. Besides, both Edward and Henry are busy with their own work. After what I've been through with James and the Fat Controller's play last year, no, thank you.

[00:09:49]You're Thomas, you're not. You're Thomas the movie star now. Percy, Toby, and Nia will take turns looking after your branch line passenger trains, and you can come back when the film production's finished, and not before.

[00:11:17]We heard that the film crew are coming to Sodor to film their movie. That's right. We wanted a chance to see them arriving, so we thought we'd come along early to get a good spot. Plus, I hear you're going to be in it, and in a lead role too. Wow, Thomas. You're going to be a film star.

[00:11:37]You must be really excited, Thomas.

[00:11:39]Well, not really, Joseph. I just want to get this over with and get back to my branch line. I've been going everywhere lately, and and I long to be back at home on my branch line. Bust my buffers.

[00:11:58]Wow, Hollywood is here.

[00:12:01]Everyone, this is the film director for his next film.

[00:12:06]Hello, Sodor.

[00:12:10]>> [bell] >> Hi, I'm Michael McBay, and we here at Airship Productions are truly honored to be filming our movie on the Island of Sodor. Rest assured, we will represent your island and railway as lovingly and respectfully as we can.

[00:12:33]Yeah, I know. Now, let's see the stars of our movie. This here is Zack. He's going to be the co-star of our movie.

[00:12:44]And now someone who needs no introduction, your number one, our star of the movie, Thomas the Tank Engine.

[00:12:59]Ah, hello, Thomas. Nice to meet you.

[00:13:06]Relax, will you? You're a big Hollywood star now. Just imagine it. You'll be steaming on the red carpet at a movie premiere. Your name on the walk I know you're all very excited about the filming, but we still have a railway to run. We don't want any confusion or delay. What I don't understand is why you, Thomas, got the lead role and not me. I've got the talent and good looks, and I've starred in a few shows myself.

[00:15:14]The star engines had their photo taken, and then it was the other engines' turn behind the star engines, but the photographer was having trouble fitting all the other engines into the photograph. Uh move back a bit there, Henry.

[00:15:35]Yes, yes, that's perfect.

[00:15:39]This is going to be great.

[00:15:41]It'll be really great for Great Western engine to be on a billboard after missing out on one back in 2008.

[00:15:54]The camera flashed, but because he wasn't paying attention, Duck didn't know that Diesel had rolled right in front of him, and neither did Diesel.

[00:16:05]Right, that's the star photos done.

[00:16:18]Later that evening, Rebecca, the yellow tender engine, had just finished her express run and was taking on water before heading back home when she saw a crane she had never seen before.

[00:16:37]Oh, I'm so sorry. I didn't mean to drop everything. Oh no, oh no, oh no. I'm going to be in so much trouble. I'll just pick them up right now. Woah, woah, woah, woah, hey, no need to worry.

[00:18:21]The next morning at Sodor River Bridge, everyone was getting ready for the first scene. Rosie and Nia have come to watch, too.

[00:18:30]So, what's happening today, Mr. McBain?

[00:18:33]Well, today we're going to be filming the bridge rescue. Dudley over there is going to come on the bridge on the other side where he'll be halted by the group ninjas. Halted by what, exactly?

[00:18:45]Ninjas.

[00:18:47]Well, you see, they're thieves disguised as ninjas. They are to slow Dudley to a stop, steal his goods, and cause a fire on the train.

[00:18:56]That sounds dangerous. Not when you have the magic of the movies. Nothing you see here is real. Plus, we've got Carly and the special effects crew.

[00:19:07]Hello, Carly.

[00:19:09]Is this the first scene? Yes, indeed, Rebecca. And who's your friend? Oh, this is James. He wanted to see Dudley in action.

[00:19:18]Yes, but mainly I just wanted to make sure Dudley gets his lines right and portrays his character as accurately as possible.

[00:19:26]Uh could I get a sound level, please, Dudley?

[00:19:31]Well, it sounds good to me.

[00:19:35]>> [groaning and snorts] >> Hey, Keri. You did set those effects good and big, didn't you?

[00:19:49]Whatever. In Hollywood, things are supposed to be epic. So, everything needs to be big. So, keep it like that.

[00:20:07]Okay, people. This is what's going to happen. Zach, you stay put at the entrance at this end with your water tanks. Uh water tank fountain. I thought my character might have a water tank fountain. It shoots water out through its filler cap.

[00:20:26]Yeah, yeah, whatever, Zach. So, Thomas, you're going onto the bridge and rescue Dudley. And remember, the vans are wired to burn, so you'll have to pull him clear and carefully. Right. Okay, everyone. We're ready for our take.

[00:21:53]Oh dear, that explosion worked perfectly. The bridge is going to go, and I'm not sure that so-called number one is going to finish the rest of this movie as [music] he'll be going to the scrapyard.

[00:23:22]He seems to let the success go to his head. I have a feeling. Say, Thomas, when we finish filming today, I need you to go to the agency yards for the night.

[00:23:31]Me and Finn are planning to add some modifications on you for the rest of the film. It's where you've been rewarded for rescuing Dudley from the bridge.

[00:23:47]Later that day, Duck puffed into the yard to collect the film billboard and delivered it to be put up at Knapford.

[00:23:57]He was very excited. Huh? Duck was disappointed. He couldn't find himself in the picture, and soon he found out why. Of course, Diesel had rolled right in front of me.

[00:24:10]Now, no one can see me at all. What a Great Western disappointment.

[00:24:16]Oh, wow. Look at me. Do I look splendid on camera?

[00:24:22]I'll probably be the next movie star if this keeps up.

[00:24:32]Duck puffed off towards Knapford.

[00:24:37]I can't believe it. My one chance to be on the billboard, and Diesel ruined it.

[00:24:43]I bet he did that on purpose. I should have known. I bet he hadn't changed after all. He'll get what's coming for messing with this very engine twice with pride of the Great Western Railway. Duck was now very cross. So cross in fact that he didn't watch where he was going.

[00:25:01]Then there was trouble.

[00:25:03]There were sheep on the line.

[00:25:10]Oh no, sheep on the line.

[00:25:23]Bust my buffers. What have I done?

[00:25:29]Meanwhile, the Fat Controller and the photographer were at the Steamworks taking photos of the area and Murdoch who was waiting to be repaired.

[00:25:39]This is going to be a long few days stuck in this noisy place.

[00:25:46]The sooner I'm repaired, the sooner I'll get my peace and quiet.

[00:25:51]Hiro, dear. How long do you expect him to be out of action?

[00:25:56]Oh, hello Duck.

[00:27:13]As he approached the points, he saw Diesel.

[00:27:18]Duck knew he should [music] tell Diesel about the website photos and Thomas's grand reveal, but Duck was worried. I suppose I should tell Diesel about tomorrow's reveal.

[00:27:31]No, but what if he gets in the way of this one, too?

[00:27:35]He might ruin the photos for the website, as well.

[00:27:39]I must keep him from finding out everything.

[00:27:45]So, Duck didn't tell Diesel.

[00:27:51]The next day, all the engines, except Diesel, arrived at the agency yards to see Thomas in his new film kit.

[00:28:01]Phew. Well, at least Diesel won't get in the way of this shot.

[00:28:05]Uh Mr. McQueen, are these modifications really necessary? It'll be fine, Thomas.

[00:28:11]Don't worry about you. You're the movie star now. Are we rolling?

[00:28:17]>> [clears throat and cough] >> Ladies and gentlemen, engines and Sir Topham Hatt, it gives me great pleasure to introduce to you all the new and improved Thomas the Tank Engine.

[00:28:35]What was that? Bust my buffers, you look like a real superhero now, Thomas. I know. I look more like something from a theme park ride. I can only imagine what Bradford would say if he saw me looking like this.

[00:28:52]Out of curiosity, Joseph, when you worked in TV, did you have to dress up a bit like that? Not really, Rosie. The producer said I was fine the way I was.

[00:29:02]Though I really don't know why people would go overboard and dress an engine up to make them look more or like a race car on rails.

[00:29:48]Over the next few days, Thomas and Zach have been hard at work on filming for the new movie.

[00:29:55]Even though Zach tried to get the spotlight on duo scenes, Percy, Toby, and Nia all took turns on running Thomas's passenger trains.

[00:40:35]That evening at the shunting yard at Knapford, Carrie was tidying the props while Zach was angrily thinking up a plan to get Thomas out of the picture. I have had it with that so-called number one and his stupid popularity.
