This doesn't mean we cannot trust ourselves, but confidence does not equal truth. The most dangerous phrase is not stupidity but the calm internal statement 'I understand exactly what's happening.' Mature thinking begins not with permanent certainty but with the ability to question oneself: 'What if I'm not seeing the whole picture?' This self-questioning can prevent conflicts, preserve relationships, avoid hasty decisions, and resist accepting the first version conveniently offered by the mind.
