The human mind does not always perceive reality objectively; instead, it often constructs versions of reality that are easier to process, leading to cognitive distortions where we may justify our actions, believe others see situations as we do, attribute others' behavior to character while blaming circumstances for our own, and accept beliefs that are easier to recall rather than proven facts. This doesn't mean we cannot trust ourselves, but confidence does not equal truth. The most dangerous phrase is not stupidity but the calm internal statement 'I understand exactly what's happening.' Mature thinking begins not with permanent certainty but with the ability to question oneself: 'What if I'm not seeing the whole picture?' This self-questioning can prevent conflicts, preserve relationships, avoid hasty decisions, and resist accepting the first version conveniently offered by the mind.
