[00:00:15]God, what a load of [ __ ] Well, I guess I've been cut.

[00:00:23]I'm one of the scenes that didn't make it.

[00:00:26]The stuff that gets thrown away.

[00:00:28]The outtakes.

[00:00:30]The mistakes.

[00:00:32]I guess someone just decided we weren't good enough.

[00:00:36]Maybe we were too boring.

[00:00:38]And nobody wants to watch boring movies.

[00:00:41]Well, maybe in France.

[00:00:44]Most of us scenes never figure [music] out why we didn't make it.

[00:00:48]How do they decide what parts to keep and what to throw away?

[00:00:55]The average movie shoots 25 times more footage than they ever use.

[00:01:00]That's a lot of work just gone to waste.

[00:01:03]There's so many ways that things can go wrong.

[00:01:06]Like, maybe the footage got destroyed by sea water.

[00:01:09][ __ ] [ __ ] [ __ ] [ __ ] Some scenes have too much exposition.

[00:01:18]Or not enough.

[00:01:21]Or it was just a bad take.

[00:01:24]With the worst actor ever.

[00:01:26]Unfortunately, you have one week to live.

[00:01:31][ __ ] Cut. Sure, sometimes you're a bad take.

[00:01:35][music] And you get left out.

[00:01:38]Sometimes you're a good take.

[00:01:40]That someone worked really hard to get.

[00:01:44]There can be nothing wrong with you.

[00:01:46]And you still don't make it.

[00:01:50]No.

[00:01:51]Guess that's the way it is.

[00:01:53]But I think it's a little sad how much gets thrown away.

[00:01:56]>> [music] >> I mean, just think how much of your own life gets cut out. [music] You remember the big moments.

[00:02:05]What about the rest?

[00:02:08]The little things, the mistakes, >> [music] >> the parts that nobody gives a flying [ __ ] about.

[00:02:15]How does anyone decide what to keep and what to throw away?

[00:02:19]>> [music] >> Most of life ends up as a deleted scene.

[00:02:24]Aren't those moments worth something, [music] too?

[00:02:28]Maybe it's wishful thinking.

[00:02:30]But as I sit here, facing the end, I find myself dreaming of a place where all unwanted scenes can go.

[00:02:40][music] A place for all the moments that have ever been forgotten.

[00:02:47]Every shot that lingered [music] a bit too long, every scene that wasn't quite right, and every day where nothing much happened. [music] >> [singing] >> It's a peaceful place where nothing is boring, and moments take as long as they need to.
