International diplomatic negotiations often face significant challenges when parties have fundamentally different priorities, as demonstrated by the stalled Iran negotiations where the US insisted on nuclear disarmament while Iran focused on ending the war and securing shipping lanes, illustrating how divergent strategic objectives can impede peace agreements.

Iran talks stall as Trump prepares meeting with Xi JinpingAjouté :
President Donald Trump says no deal to Iran's much anticipated response to a US proposal to end the war. Right now, negotiators are looking for solutions as the president turns his sights to a critical trip to China. NBC's Ali Arouzi breaks it down for us this morning.
President Trump preparing for this week's high-stakes trip to China to meet with leader Xi Jinping as the war with Iran and its global economic fallout hangover the talks. The president rejected Iran's latest peace proposal calling it totally unacceptable without offering details. Iranian state media reporting it focused on ending the war and on security and shipping traffic in the Gulf and Strait of Hormuz without mentioning nuclear weapons, something President Trump has called a must reasserting the US will get a hold of Iran's enriched uranium at some point.
We have that very well surveilled. If anybody get near the place, we will know about it and we'll blow them up. Siding that very issue, Israel's prime minister underscoring the war is not over.
There's still nuclear material enriched uranium that has to be taken out of Iran.
Uh >> [snorts] >> there's still uh enrichment sites that have to be dismantled. The US energy secretary on NBC's Meet the Press suggesting an interim deal might not fully address Iran's nuclear program. It certainly that's got to be possible. While acknowledging gas prices will remain high until the conflict is over and defending the administration for not securing the Strait of Hormuz from the start. We needed to degrade their infrastructure to project terror around the Middle East to threaten oil supplies in the long run.
Uh and uh we'll deal with this Democrats pushing back.
>> I will not support arms to the United States or any of our allies including Israel in the context of a war that is endangering our national security and Israel's. With no deal to end the war in sight. In Washington, Alice Barr, NBC News.
