This video examines the controversy surrounding Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass, where the Korean community has accused her of racism and hate crimes despite her role in sponsoring the Asian Hate Crime Bill. The video presents conflicting perspectives: one side criticizes her 1992 statement about Korean store burnings during the LA riots, while the other highlights her support for Asian communities through grants and legislation. This case illustrates the complexity of political accountability, where politicians may face criticism from communities they have historically supported, and how past statements can be revisited in political campaigns.

L.A. Asians Accuse Karen Bass Of A Hate Against ThemAdded:
Karen Bass, the mayor of Los Angeles, is running to be the mayor again, but she's got a very uphill battle. She looks like she may be going up against that of Spencer Pratt, who is a Republican, and some people say a reality star, but a lot of people are liking what he's talking about and things like that.
Well, not too long ago, he met with the Korean community, and they had this to say about Karen Bass. Check it out.
>> Yes.
Back in 1992, during LA riot, Korean owned stores and business were all burned down to the ground.
Right after LA riot, Karen Bass was interviewed by the Times and also federal commission on LA riot, and she said this, "Burning down Korean owned stores was a miracle that this accomplished what she and her group were trying to achieve." You know what? That's a racism, civil rights violation, and also same time, it's a hate crime.
Anybody who endorses Karen Bass, you are actually endorsing hate crime and racism.
She needs to go.
Spencer, we need you.
We need you to change the LA where we do.
>> So, as you saw there, he basically said that Karen Bass is a racist, and that she made a statement 1992 via her organization called Community Coalition, Coco for short, that she helped found in 1990. Now, the group was about addressing the disparities that go on in black communities, and it says black and brown, cuz y'all know Karen Bass is with the stuff with the Latino community.
But, one of the things that they were fighting against was the rebuilding of liquor stores in 1992. Now, of course, you guys know in 1992 was the LA riots and the Koreans, they were a target because it really started in 1991 with the unaliving of Latasha Harlins who was a 15-year-old back in the day who was at Empire liquor store owned by a Korean and she had her life taken from her by the liquor store owner. Okay, so again, Karen Bass's group was not wanting the liquor stores to be rebuilt. So somewhere that particular Korean man in the video was been said that said, "Hey, she's a racist." I don't know, maybe Karen can be racist, right? Cuz she has power to do that, but is she racist against y'all? I DON'T KNOW BECAUSE NOT too long ago she issued a million-dollar grant to homeless Asians there in Los Angeles. It's like, well, she's looking out for y'all even though y'all are the least homeless population there. Now he also accused her of VIOLATING THEIR CIVIL RIGHTS WHEN SHE SAID THAT. Now y'all also remember when the civil rights fight was taking place, it was about Black Americans, but you see that?
Asians will use the civil rights for their own benefit, but they don't want us to have it. Case in point, y'all remember when the Asians went to the Supreme Court with that of Edward Blum and they basically said, "Well, it's, you know, unconstitutional to let black people have certain privileges in regards of affirmative action with the educational component." So they got rid of that with the help of the Supreme Court. But there they are talking about, "OH, SHE VIOLATED OUR CIVIL RIGHTS." Now this right here is the zinger, okay? Now he also said, "It's a hate crime." Now that really wasn't a thing in 1992 as far as it being a technical legal thing, but we know that in 2021 the Biden administration did what? They signed the Asian hate crime bill, also known as a COVID-19 bill, right? Well, guess who one of his co-sponsors was?
Karen Bass cuz she was still in Congress. She was a House of Representative representing Los Angeles.
And she was one of the co-sponsors. Yes, she was one of the co-sponsors to get the Asian community a hate crime bill just for them, right? Because they made us the boogeyman. That was after the Asians and they also cited that of Trump when he was calling the COVID-19 Kung Flu and all that other stuff. So, yeah, they all signed on to it and she was a co-sponsor. Isn't it that ironic that she was a sponsor of a the hate crime bill for Asians and now they're trying to accuse her of committing a hate crime against them? After all she does for them. This is how they repay her. And my thing is, well, I mean, if you want to vote for Spencer Pratt, just say that.
Now, do I think that Karen Bass is a great mayor? No, I think she's terrible.
Especially when it comes to Black Americans. She practices benign neglect of the Black American community there in Los Angeles all day, every day. So, it doesn't matter to me if Spencer Pratt uh becomes the mayor. I think that maybe he'd probably do a better job uh than her. It remains to be seen, right? But the Koreans, they showing y'all how to get next to whiteness, right? Even though the black people have helped them, whether it's fight for civil rights or like Karen Bass, who was a black woman, uh helped them get a hate crime bill and there they are throwing her under a bus.
>> [laughter] >> I just thought that was so funny cuz when I heard him say that, I said, "Wait a minute now. Didn't Karen Bass help them get a hate crime bill?"
Yeah. Guess he forgot about that, but there he is wanting to use it against her.
So, anyway, y'all let me know what you think of that. And for more insightful commentary, please like the video and subscribe to the channel. Peace.
