India’s Viral “Cockroach Janta Party” Explodes Globally After X Account Gets Blocked | ExplainedAdded:
[music] >> Uh as I said, nothing of this was intentional, but the it's the people it's the younger people who were actually very frustrated from, I would say, past few years. They didn't have any outlet.
They were really angry at the government of way the government has been ignoring the concerns of the younger population, be it the unemployment rate, I somewhere felt very disheartened and very upset that how could someone who is sworn to protect the constitution, which grants us the freedom of expression.
So, basically his duty is to protect freedom of expression, but here he is calling out people for expressing their voices.
So, I was really upset with that.
>> [music] >> And for that, I just wrote on my Twitter, "What if all cockroaches unite?" And I got some tremendous response on it from the young people who said, "Yes, we should all get together.
Maybe we should start something together."
5 years ago, nobody was ready to speak up against Modi or the [music] government.
The times are changing.
Earlier, people were scared.
But the thing is that for how long they will be scared?
So, the frustration was there among them, and now they no longer want to be silent.
Now, they are getting vocal. So, from [music] being afraid of speaking up to getting to a point where they are actually making fun of the government, mocking the government. We have come a long way, and this is the first step.
This is the movement that has arrived in India >> [music] >> and it will continue for long and it will change the political discourse of India. It will uh continue online and if required, it will also come on the ground.
If you had noticed the trend in last 4 days, this movement is getting bigger and bigger every single day.
On first day we had some odd hundred K followers on Instagram.
Second day, it goes to 500 K. Third day, it goes to 1 million. [music] And today we are at 13 million within 4-5 days. So, you can see the trend it's getting only bigger and bigger. So, it's not going to fizzle out.
