I found the most beautiful church in Wales

[00:00:08]It's in the Black Mountains and it's so beautiful. You have to drive through loads of country lanes to get here, but it's got a really, really cool story.

[00:00:17]And it's so beautiful. I'm going to get the drone up. I'm going to show you guys now.

[00:00:21]But Oh my gosh, it's beautiful. But I'm going on a little bit of a church road trip right now. So we got two Welsh history church road trip. And so come to this one and then there's actually the most crooked church in Britain not far from here. So I'm going to show you that as well. So enjoy enjoy the vlog, guys. [00:00:45]>> Legend tells us that this peaceful little church is the final resting place of Saint Issu, a 6th century Welsh saint believed to have lived as a hermit in these hills. He devoted his life to prayer and is thought to have founded a small religious community here centuries before the church you see today was built. Now when he died, local tradition says he was buried beneath this fairy church. Over the centuries, people traveled here to honor his memory, seek his blessing, and pray at his tomb. Now step inside and you'll discover another remarkable treasure. The church still preserves rare medieval wall paintings hidden beneath layers of whitewash for centuries before being uncovered again.

[00:01:23]Among them are striking reminder of medieval beliefs about life and death including a painted skeleton, a powerful memento mori, a symbol of mortality created to remind worshipers that life is fleeting and that everyone, regardless of wealth or status, must one day face death. These remarkable paintings offer a rare glimpse into the faith and fears of people who worshipped here hundreds of years ago.

[00:02:58]>> Just down the hill I sent Issus' holy well. It's waters were long believed to possess healing powers, drawing pilgrims from across the region who came in hope of curing illness or simply to drink from its sacred spring.

Yet, as you wander between the ancient church, its remarkable medieval paintings, and the holy well, it's easy to understand why the story of Saint Issus has endured for so many years.

[00:05:11]Honestly, people, if somebody came in and saw me just sitting here on my own playing piano, they'd they probably be really scared thinking I was a ghost.

[00:05:58]Look at this. It's actually just It I actually think it's going to fall.

[00:06:03]These are here to obviously keep it from leaning any more, but that thing leans.

[00:06:08]And it's just here in Wales in the beautiful Welsh countryside. Quite difficult to get to, don't get me wrong, but definitely worth a visit.

[00:06:17]Basically, guys, this church wasn't always leaning like this. It wasn't always crooked. Basically, what happened here was there was a prehistoric landslide, and then the tower the church just went crooked. And inside it's just crazy. Like it is crooked, and you feel a bit seasick when you're walking inside there, but I can't lie. I think I preferred the first church.
