Pierre Poilievre's Vancouver Disaster: What Was He Thinking?

[00:00:24]Hello everyone. Welcome back. I hope your day is starting off just fantastic.

[00:00:28]Well, he's done it again. He's humiliated himself again. Just as Alberta has launched its referendum on whether they should have a referendum to separate from Canada, Pierre Polyv has decided he will be captain Canada and fight for Canadian unity. But he immediately humiliated himself.

[00:00:46]>> I just want to recognize that it was only about 10 years ago under a conservative government where there was absolutely no separation movement whatsoever in Alberta.

[00:00:57]>> That's right. I want to thank Prime Minister Harper for uniting the country in that way because it is the job of a prime minister to unite and it's worth worth asking how the current prime minister is doing in that regard. As for me, I know where I stand. I stand for a united country and we're going to campaign every day and every way to unite this country around hope. Thank you.

[00:01:16]>> So, he's declared himself captain Canada. He's going to fight for Canadian unity, but on the side, he's going to bash the Liberals and the prime minister. Now, uh, this type of populist rhetoric, it works on some, and I guess this is all he knows how to do because he probably doesn't understand statistics or cause and effect. I don't think his education covered that. I don't believe he had any experience prior to becoming a politician. Maybe he probably didn't learn that on his paper route. But, um, let me explain here.

[00:01:49]There's something called cause and effect. And, and this is what these populist politicians do. They they blurt out two things and then hope that you connect them. Any two things regardless of whether there's any cause and effect between them and then they they pray on your mind to just connect them. Steven Harper was prime minister for 10 years and there was no separation movement at all in Alberta. Well, that's a lie to start off with because there's been a small minority of Albertans who identify as separatists for decades now. a small minority who's never gained traction because they've never been given the opportunity to gain traction. And this is where the cause and effect comes in.

[00:02:30]Why are we talking about Alberta separatists and the possibility of Alberta destroying our country now? Is it because Steven Harper isn't the prime minister? Is it because Mark Carney's the prime minister? Is that why we're talking about it? Well, I would propose that there's a different reason. During the time Steven Harper served as prime minister of Canada between February 6, 2006 and November 3rd, 2015, Alberta had six different premers and they were progressive conservative Ralph Klene, progressive conservative Ed Stelmck, progressive conservative Allison Redford, progressive conservative Dave Hancock, and New Democratic Party Rachel Notley. What did all of those premers have in common, Pierre? Well, I'll tell you. None of them were separatists. None of them engaged with the small minority of Albertans that identified as separatists. All of them governed as premers of the Canadian province of Alberta. Those were the premers while Steven Harper was prime minister. Who were the premers after that? Well, Rachel Notley from the New Democratic Party was still premier when Justin Trudeau was elected. Jason Kenny from the United Conservative Party. United Conservative Party. What's that? All the previous premers were from the progressive conservative party. They used to be progressive and now they're united. What does that mean? Well, Jason Kenny wasn't right-wing or extreme enough for the faction that united with the progressive conservative party. The united part of the conservative party is the separatists. and they forced Jason Kenny to resign and had a leadership review and chose Danielle Smith as their girl who is now the premier of Alberta representing the United Conservative Party. They opened up their party to the extreme right and the separatists. They called it the Unite the Right in an effort to uh defeat the New Democratic Party. was one of the first times in 40, 50 years that the NDP actually elected a premier in Alberta. And so the progressive conservatives invited the more right-wing, including separatists, into their party. They changed their name to the United Conservative Party.

[00:04:40]And now they have Daniel Smith as the premier. And Daniel Smith has single-handedly on her own put forward this agenda to talk non-stop about separation and referendums to lower the amount of signatures that are required on a petition that would force the government to trigger a referendum.

[00:04:58]She's done done everything to appease the separatists even when the courts declared that the petition was invalid.

[00:05:07]And the RCMP is investigating the separatist group's petitions to see if there's possibly forged signatures used on it because there's been a leak of the Alberta elections list. Everyone's personal information was leaked to that separatist group. They could have just forged all the signatures. Even though the courts and the RCMP have cast a cloud over this and made it a non-issue, no reason to have a separatist vote.

[00:05:31]Daniel Smith has jumped into action and declared that Alberta will have a vote anyway. And that's why we're talking about separation right now. It has nothing to do with Stephen Harper or Mark Carney and this ridiculous talking points that these populist politicians have. This this strategy of just uh as I explained, you you just present two things and hope that the listener or the viewer will just connect them in their own brain. It's so ridiculous. While Steven Harper was the prime minister, we never talked about separation. And so in your mind as an uneducated or easily influenced person, you'll say, "Yeah, that's true. I I don't remember hearing about separatists back then, I I guess it's because Steven Harper was the prime minister. That's why." Well, let me give you another ridiculous example, Pierre, if if that's the logic that you're using. Uh while Steven Harper was the prime minister, there were no measles cases in Alberta.

[00:06:28]But now there are.

[00:06:31]There's measles cases now. And Mark Carney's the prime minister. Therefore, Mark Carney causes the measles.

[00:06:40]I mean, cause and effect. If you break it down, the reason that there's measles cases now, measles being eradicated uh 10 years ago, is because people, mainly conservatives, rightwingle leaning conservatives, the same people that view themselves as separatists, aren't having their kids vaccinated for measles anymore. So now there's measles cases in Alberta, but you can present two facts and just throw them out there. I just want to throw this out there that when Steven Harper was the prime minister, there were no measles cases, but now that the liberals are in power, there's measles cases everywhere. So there it it doesn't follow. There's no cause and effect. It's just a a ridiculous statement that and he presents it with authority and with uh this bravado like he knows what he's talking about with total confidence and it'll um it will fool some people.

[00:07:38]This is the typical strategy that the the MAGA strategy that the Maple MAGA uses. Daniel Smith uses the same sort of rhetoric that she'll present two things at once. uh immigration. There's a lot of immigrants coming to Alberta and we have a deficit now. So those are two facts and then she'll leave it up to you to link them since we've had all these immigrants arrive. Well, now we have a deficit and there's no link that immigrants have not caused the deficit in Alberta. There's no deficit anymore because oil prices have spiked over $100 a barrel. And that's exactly why there was a deficit or she projected a deficit about four months ago because four months ago oil prices were about $55 and Alberta government revenue was way down because oil prices were down. So there's a deficit coming and just so you all know there's a lot of immigrants around this place.

[00:08:33]I'm not going to link them myself, but I'll let you decide. This is the vile, disgusting um rhetoric that these populist mega maple mega politicians use. And I'm sorry, Pierre, but you just humiliated yourself. Again, you're just putting on display how completely uneducated and humiliating that you are.

[00:08:53]Or it might be worse than that. He may actually understand what he's doing. He may actually understand that this is just a a lying, deceiving strategy. and he is now going to use this issue of the Al Alberta government having a vote on separation, the referendum on whether they have a referendum. He's going to jump into action and deem himself captain in Canada now and he's going to campaign for Canada and at the same time use it as a platform to just bash the government over and over again. that the only reason we have these problems is because of the Liberals and Mark Carney and everything they do is wrong and Canada's broken and everything's horrible and that's why the people in Alberta are upset. Now that's why we have separatists. Now let me suggest something that illustrates a little bit more cause and effect. Pierre, since your party selected you as the leader, you have lost an election of which you were supposedly guaranteed to win, dropping 27 points, leading your party to the worst defeat in Canadian history.

[00:09:54]You lost your own seat and after regaining your own seat, you lost four of your MPs so that the Liberals could form a majority.

[00:10:02]How's that for cause and effect? Is that a better example?

[00:10:06]The reason that we have uh that separation is in the news now is because Daniel Smith put it in the news because Daniel Smith is not a conservative.

[00:10:14]Daniel Smith is a the premier of Alberta of the United Conservative Party. a party that used to be the progressive conservative party that united with the extreme right and the separatists and she used that base to help her gain power. They ousted Jason Kenny. They declared her the uh their leader in a leadership review. She became the premier of Alberta before there was an election and then she won legitimately an election versus Rachel Notley. the NDP lost and now Alberta is stuck with her and they're stuck with her agenda and her agenda is to promote at all costs this topic of separation partly either to blackmail Canada to get what she wants to fight fight against the Liberals to uh get things for Alberta under the threat if we don't get what we want we're going to vote to separate that's the number one reason and it'll keep her base happy her separatist base happy because they anticipate having a vote that they're going to campaign on to try try and win that vote. Or number two, she is secretly uh or almost not secretly anymore, almost openly a separatist herself. That's why we're talking about separation right now.
